The crew prepare to set sail and cross the Tasman and with windy conditions, dressed in wet weathers, we have some epic sailing. We have a few mishaps on this trip, we manage to flood our starboard hull with fresh water on Liss's birthday but we still manage to celebrate in style. After provisioning in Sydney and getting a surf at Summer Bay, we pick up our friend Iain and change our plans setting sail for New Caledonia not NZ and stop off at Middleton Reef which is 300nm into the ocean. We drop anchor here to make some water and Iain kitesurfs around this remote untouched reef. The four of us end up jumping in the sea to swim with the sharks and head off to check out the many shipwrecks littering the reef. Team Roam sail upwind for five days on a difficult passage across the Pacific from New Caledonia to Fiji. We barely ate on route and all felt seasick at different points, this trip was not ideal. However, on arrival we are greeted to an amazing welcome at Vuda Marina and quickly set about washing clothes, getting drunk and building ladders! Our friends Baggy and Anna arrive and we camp out at Cloudbreak and Restaurants for a few weeks, tucked behind Namotu and Tavarua scoring epic waves with plenty of barrels to be had. We meet tons of new friends including the lovely Pato Tiexeira (Psycho Pato), the Brazilian Pro big wave surfer.
