Finally we are back. We have just finished putting all pieces together on JAEKA. It was a really hectic week. We needed two days to take off sails, solar panels, bimini, dodger and tie up all lines. After that we needed the entire day trying to stay calm and relaxed, watching through the window how all boats in a port were swinging left and right, back and forth. Once the night was over, the intense time was right around the corner walking toward the boat thinking of the best.....and.....everything was alright. The only thing....... are ...... cleats. On one side two cleats out of three were gone, still hanging attached on our triple lines in a water. But everything was fine, and JAEKA was not damaged. We were extremely happy with everything and we organized hurricane Matthew survivors party :-) After all of that we needed two more days to put everything back. So, as a result this week was full of exercises, working on all possible muscles of our bodies. Winded Voyage Season 2 is off on new adventures. With my sailing license in hand I go back to Galopin in Port Leucate France to set off on an key challenge to my sailing apprenticeship. Solo sailing for two weeks. I’m supported by co-star “Bix”, a colourful character with a French southern twang and pure sailing spirit. He accompanies me on a journey down the Spanish coast and a series of solo sailing challenges. Sailing through the Cyclades, things constantly remind us that sailing is a never ending learning curve. Mooring stern too in a 30 knot wind, even for experienced sailors can be a trial, and go completely wrong. We were not filming at the time, and aren't able to share the panic with you, we will try harder next time! Over 300 boats have to clear out of the harbor by the next morning because the same space is used for the powerboat show the following week. At 5:00 sharp a cannon shot starts the choreographed process of disassembling a tangled assortment of boats and docks that took most of a week to put together.

As the Volvo Ocean Race announced a major rule change to give world-class female sailors a clearer pathway into offshore sailing, veteran Richard Mason gave his thoughts.

Mediterraneo 116’, the new model in the Class Displacement range, is proof that when experience and intuition meet, the result is always excellence. Thomas Ruyant, 34 ans, originaire de Dunkerque, est l’un des jeunes coureurs au large les plus talentueux de sa génération. A 58 ans, il est le doyen du Vendée Globe 2008/2009. A bord d’un monocoque ancien, mis à l’eau dix ans plus tôt, il se bat comme un lion pour surmonter coups de chiens et avaries multiples. Il rallie les Sables d’Olonne après 121 jours de mer, non sans avoir une nouvelle fois partagé sa course avec le plus grand nombre. S’il souhaite revenir en 2016, c’est pour être plus rapide mais surtout pour développer ses programmes pédagogiques. Convaincu que la voile est un outil intéressant pour véhiculer des valeurs positives auprès des jeunes, Rich Wilson portera ses messages aux Etats-Unis et ailleurs dans le monde. In this episode we chat with Martin Vaughan about his epic adventure and lessons learned from competing in the 5,500nm 2-handed 2013 Melbourne to Osaka Race. As a long distance South to North Ocean Race, it’s a unique Pacific Ocean journey and it crosses multiple weather systems and seasons. The course starts in Portsea, Melbourne, heads into Bass Strait, up the east coast of Australia, into the southeasterly trade winds then through the Solomon Islands and the doldrums of the equator. It then heads into the southeasterly trade winds and the equatorial current before fighting the Kuroshio (Japan current), which flows up the Pacific Coast of Japan to finish in the port of Osaka on Japan’s Honshu Island.
