The town of St. Pierre in Martinique was once the capital of the island but 1902 a volcanic eruption killed everybody except one guy! We went hiking on the volcano Montagne Pelée and then visited the destroyed city. Beside from some land exploration we also stayed in a couple of very nice anchorages along the west coast of Martinique. And we got our own anchor guard on the ocean floor :) We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved aboard our sailboat RAN, a custom built aluminium Beason 40, and untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter and started to sail south along the coast of Europe. Do you ever feel like you're just living life in a loop, replaying the same 5 days over and over again (ahem... Westworld anyone?) just clinging onto the idea of Friday coming around? We did and we knew life had so so much more for us. So, in May 2016, we sold everythig we owned and decided to embark on an adventure of a lifetime; sailing around the world! In this episode we continue after removing the Deck core that was wet and rotted. This is putting in new mahogany deck core boards and epoxy coating them on both sides to laminate them. Next up will be new glass mat and deck. Join us on our journey as we continue to rebuild, refit and prepare our Formosa 51 Sailboat for our continued cruising journey.
