Outside Colombia are two archipelagos called Islas Rosario and Islas San Bernardo. We go diving, look at frigate birds and check out the most crowded island in the world! We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved aboard our sailboat RAN, a custom built aluminium Beason 40, untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter and started to sail south along the coast of Europe. There is no set route and we will go where the wind and our minds take us. WANT MORE? I'd like to thank all my viewers for all your support over the last year. 2017 has been huge for this channel. Changing its name from Barryperrins to Adventures of an old Seadog to match the series and Facebook page helped to make a difference. From a few thousand views, one of the videos 'Miserable old man saves yacht' suddenly took off with 70,000 views in one week! From then on the channel grew quickly to be successful and has just been voted in the top 100 adventure channels on Youtube. This success is down to YOU. Without your views none of this would be possible. I thank you and am so grateful for your continuing support. I must also thank my Patreons for their generosity. I want to wish you all all the best for the new year and may your dreams come true. In this episode, I go aboard a wrecked yacht, Go shopping by boat, help some locals, make an anchor light out of a jam jar! Thanks to Ran sailing for the drone footage, Alsino for his help and free taxi service! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoZ8PKqxauuySlIN_8u_4dg Thank you for watching this episode, please give us a thumbs up and subscribe. On Facebook our page is ‘Adventures of an old Seadog’ and there you can find ‘realtime’ up-dates and news. Facebook https://www.facebook.com/adventuresofanoldseadog/ If you’d like to help the Old Seadog Please checkout our Patreon page on the link below. https://www.patreon.com/Adventuresofanoldseadog Contributions to the project can be made at paypal.me/seadogadventures Twitter https://twitter.com/barryperrins Thanks so much for your support, The adventure continues. Safe sailing. Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc-v700. Most shots are done with an external mic (Shenggu sg 108) with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action stuff and small blogging is done with a Sony Hdr-as30v. Underwater video Gopro3plus. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘blar bar mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have completely no communications with the outside World. The ICW bridge that WOULD NOT LET US PASS!! Sailboat living with SailAway #10. After making some modifications and upgrading the boat for sailing the Bahamas we head south to Florida via the Atlantic and ICW with a Bahamas adventure as our goal. But it seems that we're denied every step of the way! But not to worry, Layla doesn't give up and neither do we. Join us as we encounter an unforgiving Atlantic ocean with 20+ knots of wind and rough seas right on the nose, an overheating motor, a slightly illegal marina stay, a grounding, and a bridge on the ICW that simply does not want to let us pass. Sailboat living always has its challenges, but we don't let it get our sailing family down! As always, thanks for watching and keep exploring our sailing world! Be sure to SUBSCRIBE for WEEKLY CONTENT! Cheers!! Thanks for watching SailAway, the travel documentary of an adventurous sailing couple, plus toddler and dog, sailing the world! We arrived in the beautiful bay of Morro Jable in Fuerteventura to find clear water, stingrays, sand-dunes and cute wee town. This has been our highlight of the Canary Islands. We left Morro Jable to head to Pasito Blanco in Gran Canaria, we stayed in the Marina becuase it was Jo's last night on Inspire, it was a very sad day as we said our goodbyes... it wasn't going to be the same without him. After Jo left we prepared Inspire for the crossing to Cape Verde and set sail the following morning. Enjoy! We left Agadir and had a fantastic sail to the Canary Islands, first stop Lanzarote. We loved exploring Lanzarote, not everyday to get to see a Volcanic lava everywhere! We left Lanzarote and anchored out the front of Collalejo and then headed to the beautiful Lobos Island, the water was stunning! Thanks to everyone for the support and watching our vids. In this video, we take a 17 day trip checking out as many waterfalls, while on our way back home to Colorado to work, and save as much money as possible during the hurricane season. We checked out as many national forests as possible trying to find a new camping spot each evening. It was such an amazing trip. Besides the both of us catching Giardia by the time we got back to CO from the water of one of these places.

After months of hard work, we finally manage to get our dog to the boat. It's a wonderful time for both Wendy and myself, and of course for Doc, who probably thought we'd abandoned him. Starting in Baiona, Spain, we head for Vigo, pick up Doc, then cruise down to Viana do Castelo, Portugal, then on to Leixoes, also in Portugal. It's quite a ride.
After spending 2 and 1/2 months in Curacao it was time to get ready and leave. But before we set sail to our next destination, we thoroughly clean the bottom of the boat , and decided to spend some extra time with our friends on a tiny island off the coast of Curacao. The 350nm sail was slow at first, then we had some amazing sailing for a couple of days before we needed to have a chat to King Neptune to see what he was thinking. On passage, Yosh hooks a monster and endures an epic battle for the ages.
