This is a 1994 Amel Super Maramu called "Intention" The engine ran, but would not get over 2000rpms at full throttle. So, I decided to pull the turbo and have it serviced or replaced.

I parked the boat while I went to Clark's graduation. So much to do before the crew arrives on June 4th. I got right at it. This is the day I arrived, just got to the boat from the airport.

Follow along and learn how to repair common types of damage to the gel coat layer on the hull of your dinghy. Gel coat is a thin protective layer that is applied on top of the fiberglass core of the hull. You can think of it this way: if the hull is the chocolate inside of an M&M, gel coat is the candy-colored shell. Keeping the gel coat layer intact is very important to the long-term health of any sailboat. If water is allowed to creep into the fiberglass core, it can soften the material and rapidly reduce the structural integrity of the boat. We, of course, understand that all sorts of things can happen to a dinghy throughout a typical day of sailing. Dropping the transom onto the pavement is pretty much guaranteed to happen. It’s OK! It just means that learning how to repair gel coat can prove to be an essential skill and key to maximizing the lifespan of your boat. NOTE: Always make sure you are accompanied by someone experienced in working with marine chemicals and power tools before attempting any of these projects. ‣‣‣ ABOUT HARKEN BLOCKHEADS What exactly is a Blockhead? An absolutely fascinating chat with Sonny Natanielu, about the revival of traditional Polynesian voyaging methods using waka (canoes) that go back several hundred years. It was a tremendous insight into the importance of the ocean the significance of waka (canoes). Māori has its roots in times past, when voyaging waka forged the links between the ancestral homeland of Hawaiki and New Zealand and waka also linked together all of the peoples of Polynesia. The skills these pacific ancestors required to build and navigate these vessels across the Pacific using only natural materials were beyond imagination. I sail from the Shetland Islands, bound for the Faroe Islands (200 NM NW) when I lose my autopilot. What follows is without doubt my worst sailing experience, but favorable winds see me to my destination, exhausted. I explain the cause of the loss of autopilot, and show a few brief scenes of the stunning Faroe Islands.

Yes this is the one you have been waiting for!! We set sail aboard Dream to a local natural anchorage and on route we give DREAM a bit of a shake down to see what she will do. A couple of days later we set off on our first proper sail, just over 80 miles and 17 hours of sailing. We planned it so we set off in the afternoon so we would arrive at our destination of Astopalea when the sun was up. Planned to perfection.
