2019 Jeanneau 410 Sailing was never so enjoyable aboard a 41-foot sailboat. With her powerful hull, the Sun Odyssey 410 perfects the art of sailing and comfort on board. The model is particularly secure, featuring sidedecks without obstacles and comfortable coaming. All is as with her predecessors from the 8th generation, the Sun Odyssey 410 benefits from a lower boom, which facilitates access to the sail and increases the sail area. Centralised winches, which can be controlled directly from the cockpit, also contribute to safety on board. For more information please contact Ian Van Tuyl. Please feel free to contact me at any time day or night and I look forward to hearing from you and hopefully earning your business.

SNEAK PREVIEW: SUMMER 2018!!! ***We did not approach the seals - they approached us. We just snorkelled around on the surface and watched from a distance (unless they came up to us!) We made sure we were calm and moved carefully so we didn't disturb them - we also made sure that we didn't get too close to the ones digesting their food on the rocks. Before we went swimming we did a lot of research on what to do and what not to do and took lead from the boat that runs snorkelling trips on a daily basis out to these islands.*** ____________________________________________________________________ Dave and I were lucky enough to get calm enough weather to anchor in a little bay off Great Ganilly in the Eastern Isles of Scilly and be surrounded by grey seals! We thought it would be rude not to jump in and go for a snorkel to see what we could see. Our minds were blown! They were so graceful and inquisitive under water. A couple got incredibly close and one even came right up for a good sniff and a nudge! At the time, I barely caught a glimpse of the seal as it kept swimming behind and underneath me but I felt it there and couldn't believe my eyes when I watched the footage back! It was truly a once in a lifetime experience and I literally couldn't hold in my excitement after it swam away (listen closely towards the end! This week, we answer an e-mail we received from Ása and Einar, an Iceland couple who wondered what we have found works against seasickness. Before we start answering, we really want to make a point that we don’t pretend to be experts, nor to have all the answers. If you think that we get something wrong, or that we missed something, let us know in the comment section, and help the community in the process! Being seasick makes me badly nauseous and drowsy. But in the worst cases, it also affects how I think. I start being very irritated, self-loathing, and sometimes I want to jump overboard to make it stop. Seasickness is a problem we take very seriously onboard. Being badly seasick means that Ryan may have to single-hand the boat. In some situations, we’ve found that it is better to turn back to port, rather than having the both of us suffering conditions that we cannot handle (or to be accurate, that my stomach cannot handle). Before I set sail, I make sure I have my 4Fs in check. The 4Fs are a French thing that goes: Faim, Froid, Frousse, Fatigue. Translated it means: Hunger, Cold, Fear and Tiredness. To that, I had “Hydration”. It is said than having two of those parameters off balance puts you in the risk zone for seasickness, and I’ve found that in my case, it is true. My problem with that is my lack of experience. My anxiety is very easily triggered by waves a little higher than usual, big ships or darkness. So, unfortunately, seasickness happens. When I start to feels the first signs, I try to not make it worse. Things that can make seasickness worse are: - Bad smells (toilet smells for example…) - Reading, looking a the chart plotter, logging, looking at my phone or laptop will make me considerably worse, it goes without saying. - Nagging crew members or being perpetually asked if I am going to vomit makes seasickness worse. When seasickness kicks in, I go straight to the helm, I make myself a little snack (and stay away from sugar), I drink some water or some tea, and I stare at the horizon while trying to no get myself psyched up about seasickness. Ginger works well for me, and I try to stock it in various shapes and forms on the boat: Ginger tea, ginger juice, ginger pills (Antimetil, that I found in France), fresh ginger, ginger cookies or ginger bread. Ever since I started talking about my seasickness on this channel, I got tons of tups and recommendations what to do when I’m bad (thank you!!!!). Those include: - Laying by the center of gravity of the boat - Sitting on a gumtree, or a picture of a gumtree (I am so confused by that one! Someone please explain! Hahaha :)) - Using essential oils of Lavender, Eucalyptus or mint. - Putting a earplug on your non-dominant side While in France, I found “boarding rings”, that are some sort of glasses that somehow…. I can’t even describe it! I should really have bought those and tried them :) I have previously tried the Sea bands, those bracelets that activate an acupressure point on your wrist, but they haven’t worked too well for me. They seem very widespread, so maybe they help a few seasick fellows out there! What works best for me these days are the transdermal patches of scopoderm. It destroys my nausea and doesn’t make me drowsy, but the side effects can be unpredictable I am not a doctor, and this medication can only be obtained upon prescription (at least in the US and Sweden), so talk to your physician! Those patches almost always consistently dilate my pupils and blur my vision. They leave me with a very dry mouth and a terrible taste on my tongue. Ultimately, I hope I won’t have to always rely on those patches. I hope that learning more about my seasickness and what works for me will help in the long run. I wondered if seasickness could be cured. I found that opinions about the subjects are divided. Ryan insists I get a run on the spinning chair that the American army uses to desensitize its pilots. I REFUSE :) But there is apparently a seasickness rehab facility in Brest, France, not to far away from where I am from, where they successfully treated quite a number of patients with their 3 months program. So there should be hope for all of us! Let me know if you like this type of video, and I’ll try to do one of those every month, on top of our weekly updates! —— Resources mentioned in this video: www.morganscloud.com www.theboatgalley.com Do you have good resources about the subject? We heard a lot of different opinions about propane vs alcohol stoves. It was time to put them to the test. So we put our old propane stove up against our new Origo 3000 from Dometic to see which one is truly better. Kiting in winds of 25 plus! Dancing with party-people all 25 and under!  Eddie the nipping cat at Nippers.  Bucketlusters, kite-surfers, Vladimir Platypus (my winter, wet-suit alter-kite ego) and “Bahamas Boys” looking for some cheebah?  Or bitcoin crypto ... I believe they’re the same.  If anyone knows what those are, feel free to chime in below.  We’ve got it all for you guys in this very fun video from the stunning island of Great Guana Cay, along with my favorite photos at https://havewindwilltravel.com/2018/05/03/bv13-great-kiting-at-great-guana-cay/.  It was so hard to choose any, though, they were all so beautiful. Guana Cay offered us great kiting on the Atlantic shore, never-ending entertainment at Nippers, a chance to star-gaze at the many stars who allegedly own houses on Baker’s Bay (think Cher, Beyonce, Sting, etc.), a beautiful sunset anchorage, and fantastic fine-dining dinners at Sunsetters at Orchid Bay Marina.  We loved it!  Hope you all enjoy the video!

Only in Papua New Guinea! What a show of cultural dancing, singing and they even eat fire! Like chomp and chew it! https://www.sailingnandji.com In this episode of Sailing Nandji, we finish our sail north to the town of Kavieng. After dropping anchor and heading to shore, we discover that the APEC summit meeting for tourism is being held in the town we just arrived to! We knew this would mean some sort of show so went to investigate. We arrived early and somehow made our way into the VIP area. The delegates arrived and yet we still remained in the VIP area! After we were invited up stairs for a cold coconut, we realised we were not getting booted out and made the most of our time as VIP's! Mingling with the delegates and getting front row of every performance. We watched a bird dance, never before performed in the public eye. We witnessed the ancient duk duk dance from the secret society of Tolai men, who also eat and dance in fire... Only in Papua New Guinea!! We are a young couple with a dog, who with no sailing experience, bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off sailing around the Pacific! On this episode I show you guys how I went about installing my Digital Yacht GPS / AIS / VHF combo antenna for my Digital Yacht iAis receiver. I wanted to install it on the stern rail and to run the cables down the tube of the stern pulpit and into the aft lazarette. Hoping to avoid removing the entire stern pulpit I decided to try and drill through the backing plate and into the tube itself. My plan worked and I was able to complete the job easily with the help of my friend Christian of Sailing Vessel Antares. Thanks for watching this project throwback video I hope it helps you in some way. We have arrived in the Pacific Islands! Our first couple of weeks in the Marquesas is like an early homecoming. The friendliness and generosity of the people, the sweet, succulent fruit juices dripping down our chins and of course, natures landscaped marvel that is this enchanting island chain. We hang with fellow cruisers, try local delicacies, relish in the plethora of fish and colourful reefs, and gorge ourselves on the fresh produce. We begin our crusiing at Ua Huka and move westwards to Nuku Hiva where we find one of our favourite anchorages of the trip so far – Anaho Bay. Whether you’re sailing solo or double-handed, it is perfect for your adventures at sea or on a lake! Boat of the Year Award | Best Innovation | by Sailing World U.S.A. "The thing was a blast. I couldn't believe how well it sailed. You could have some serious fun with this, especially in big breeze." -------------------------- ** The Tiwal story ** * The Birth of Tiwal * As a girl, the first time our founder Marion Excoffon was told, “No!” by her father when she asked to use the family boat, her life as an inventor began. It was then she started dreaming of building her own craft, an ambitious feat that would come true years later. On the road to creating an innovative high-speed vessel for everyone from kids and first timers to expert sailors who want to test limits, there were a number of prototypes, failures, challenges and headaches. But, if there’s one thing Marion’s known for, it’s her sailor’s grit! * Combining Fun & Technology * The award winning Tiwal concept is easy assembly and storage - maximum fun and performance for watersports and activities. A Tiwal isn’t your average dinghy! Our design is the result of tons of coordination, talent, and technological savvy. * A Growing Global Community * For our community of Tiwal skippers (more than 2,500 worldwide!) all this innovative design means their focus is fixed on the pleasures of watersports and having tons of fun on a responsive sailing craft. With excellent upwind and downwind abilities combined with high-speeds, Tiwals are a part of both fun and professional performance. The Tiwal 3 received the Boat of the Year (Best innovation) Award 2014 from Sailing World in the USA and the Red Dot Award, with recognitions, accolades, and smiling faces continuing to join together on the waves worldwide. Bem vindos a bordo !!! Lighting and a tornado hits us under full sail as we head up the coast to pick up our friends and explore the coolest spots on the Turkish coastline. We are the Robbins family sailing on our boat named Nikau. We are a family of 5. Our 3 kids are doing NZ correspondence school on board. They are growing to love it! What's not to love about 3 hours of school a day and then a different playground for the afternoon every day! We've traveled from New Zealand to Sardinia in Italy to pick up our boat and we plan over a few seasons to sail her back to New Zealand. We hope you enjoy following us on our adventures! We would love to hear from you. Especially if you are interested in doing something crazy like we are! Maybe we can help answer some questions you have? Thanks and enjoy.

The Meiers family experienced a week on a Nautitech Open 40 sailing catamaran called 'A Little Bit Nauti' with Whitsunday Escape in June. See how the parents and kids loved it! Check out all the places they visited, the activities they did, and have a good look around the Nautitech catamaran too. What a fantastic holiday with kids in the Whitsundays!

$100,000,000 YACHTS AND 100 YEAR OLD SAILING BOATS. AT ICON YACHTS! I was recently invited to ICON yachts' shipyard in Holland along with some of my peers to take a look at their facilities and see what work they have under way. It was a wonderful experience, we raced 100 year old sailing boats and also got to see some pretty impressive yachts under construction. ICON were keen to ensure that we took as much away as possible from the trip, and I hope that this video will give you an opportunity to share in some of that information too.

In this week's episode, we leave the catamaran (Lagoon 421) we'd been sailing through the Whitsunday islands and get off at Hamilton Island in preparation for a family wedding. After exploring Hamilton Island and checking out some great view points of the island, the big day finally arrived as we put on our fancy frocks and headed down to the chapel.
