Juni 2014 in Hamburg gestartet.

Infelizmente a Refeno estava acabando!
Building a cruising sailboat This week, I first-fit the galley water pumps after giving them an initial clean up. This allows the final galley cupboard shelf to be fitted. The boat is constructed of exterior quality plywood, sealed with epooxy and sheathed in glass fibre and epoxy. One of the great beauties of these boats is that the ballast keel is fitted towards the end of the build, enabling the boat to be kept lower in the shed for most of the construction time. The keel and rudder are fitted shortly before launch. Thank you! Tony

Ep 176 | Replacing the Seal in our Lofrans Tigres Windlass, Moreton Bay, Sailing Nutshell, Australia
Magnus spots oil trickling out of our Lofrans Tigres Windlass and after further investigation he finds out that we probably need a new seal and perhaps bearings too. So, we head back into shore early after an unsuccessful fishing trip in the middle of Morton Bay. We take buses into town to get parts and Magnus makes a start on fixing the windlass. He hits a few hurdles along the way… As usual, little boat jobs turn into big boat jobs! That’s boating! Oh, and Magnus does a slightly unusual beer review. A few weeks before we sailed to Stromboli, it exploded. Mind you, Stromboli is always exploding a little bit –– it's the only still active volcano in the Aeolian archipelago just north of Sicily. Usually, guided hiking tours take tourists to the top to watch the lava flow out of the crater. This summer was different. Stromboli exploded in a far bigger way than usual, leading to the death of one man, and several altered flight routes around its cloud of ash. When we visited, just a few weeks after the explosion, we got to see Stromboli in a far more active state than it was before. The larger explosion seemed to trigger increased volcanic activity for weeks after, and all hiking tours were cancelled this summer. But to watch the spectacle from the safety of our boat was truly magical. I hope you enjoy this video of Stromboli after the explosion! These videos are made possible by you. Welcome to Ep 8 of Carpe Diem Sailing. In this episode I do some emergency repairs to my inflatable dinghy while out cruising this past summer. My rubbing strake was coming off and I didn't notice it till just before we left. I bought some very expensive glue for hypalon and PVC but then found out that it was very complicated to use so I turned to some sealant that I had bought somewhere in a marine supply store and it worked really well, at least for a temporary repair, but now months later it's holding firm. Not bad for a $5 tube of contact cement! OK! It's more than just contact cement. It's waterproof and oil and solvent resistant. Check it out! After 9 years of cruising we can say that there's a few dilemma's that every sailor deals with and no one has a solution for; making money and staying connected to land life while you're cruising. We start our long stay on the hard outfitting the boat with tons of upgrades. We re-embed our chain plates, switch to a compost head and install a new bow roller and anchor. Nathalie starts getting settled into the new life on the boat, and through all the hard work, we make sure to have some fun and unwind in the evenings. Made possible by you! Here you can find our boat gadgets & gift guide with links to all products: hhttps://seethelittlethings.com/christmas-gift-ideas-for-sailors/ Holiday season is coming and some of you might want to get your sailor friend a nice gift for Christmas or you are a sailor yourself and you want your friends to buy you a good gift. We all know that space on a boat is valuable and limited, so it’s important to gift something that is small and practical, preferably not too expensive. It’s a bit ridiculous to buy your friends new anchor chain, so we had a look into our lockers and found a couple of things we have been using a lot this season. We figured it would be selfish to keep these to ourselves. So here is a selection of our favorite gadgets for if you are looking for some Budget Christmas Gift Ideas for sailors. Most of them are inexpensive, easy to transport and just freaking awesome. Check out the link to our website where we have links to all the items from our Holiday Gift Guide 2019 with 8 must have boat gadgets for next season! Maybe a good Christmas gift for a sailor? We would like to mention that the products are not sponsored, we bought them ourselves and have been using them all season! We only shared those items we love the most and wouldn't want to miss! *MERCH* well, just nice shirts. Six months ago we started our journey in Greece with little sailing experience, figuring things out as we go, not really knowing what we're doing. Our goal is to circumnavigate the world via the wind, always being surrounded by the ocean. Sailboat life is super different from land life and can be pretty rough at times. see the little things is the documentary of our endeavour of simplifying life, decelerating pace, and practicing mindfulness. Follow our adventures when you are curious to see how we mess up and fix it up again! We are currently still sailing Greece, but will head over to Italy and beyond soon. Safe sailing. Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc- V770 with a Rode External mic. My old camera is now my number 2 is a Panasonic Hc-v700. Most shots are done with an external mic (Shenggu sg 108) with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action stuff and small blogging is done with a Sony Hdr-as30v. Underwater video Gopro3plus. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘bland and mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have completely no communications with the outside World.
