This episode sets the theme for our first Canadian Cruising Experience: A little thing we like to call Adult Summer Camp! First, we set sail and head into Lake Bras’dor by navigating the famous St. Peter's Lock. Once anchored, we do some provisioning in the nearby town. And then its finally time to begin exploring a new anchorage a little further off the beaten path. Once there, we make our first bonfire and have dinner by it's light along with our friend Brian, our buddy boat for the season. We have to cut the heels, drill and chisel the notches in the centreline, and bed them with Red Lead paint and bedding compound (Dolfinite & pine tar). Rowan also works on fairing the bottom of the frames in preparation for the cast bronze floor templates. We’re back in our home marina Dockan in Malmö and in this episode we’ll tell you a little about the marinas interesting past, with one of the worlds largest gantry cranes once towering over it. We also take you with us aboard the 81 meter Swedish coastguard ship Amfitrite which we were lucky to get invited for a tour on. We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved aboard our sailboat Ran, a custom built Beason 40 in aluminium and untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter in January 2016.
