We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. Sabato 15 febbraio, si è disputata la seconda prova dei trimarani oceanici nella Caribbean Multihull Challenge, da Simpson Bay a Gran Case. Alle 9.45 ora locale (13.45 UTC, 14.45 ora italiana) Maserati Multi 70 e i suoi due concorrenti, Argo e Shockwave, hanno tagliato la starting line al largo di Simpson Bay, Sint Maarten, con vento tra i 20-25 nodi da Est-Nord-Est e raffiche fino a 30 nodi. Poco dopo la partenza, il 63 piedi Shockwave ha avuto un problema al boma che ha costretto l’equipaggio a ritirarsi, lasciando i due 70 piedi a contendersi il primo posto. Il percorso della prova, di circa 38 miglia, prevedeva il giro antiorario dell’isola fino al largo di Basse-Terre, da cui i trimarani hanno fatto rotta verso Nord attraversando il canale di Anguilla fino a Blowing Rock, per poi dirigersi verso il traguardo al largo di Gran Case, nella parte francese dell’isola. Il trimarano americano Argo ha concluso la prova in 2 ore, 25 minuti e 07 secondi, seguito da Maserati Multi 70, con un tempo reale di 2 ore, 27 minuti e 36 secondi. It’s time to make some miles and when you choose to travel as far and as often as we do, the consequence is that we must keep moving. It’s already past mid September and as sailors we are bound to the cycle of the seasons. Given this, we decide to sail past Provincetown RI and transit the Cape Cod Canal before taking a night of rest and moving on. Desde que saímos do Brasil o Reveillon no Basil's Bar era um marco. Eu não sabia muito o que esperar, mas sabia que era imperdível. Minha expectativas não eram lá muito altas porque eu achei que o lugar era bem turístico e que poderia ser meio "mico". Chegamos na ilha à noite e vimos iluminação que pareciam de pequenas usinas, ou plataformas, ou transatlânticos. Mas não, era mega yatchs de ricaços ou de charter para pessoas dispostas (leia-se ricas) a pagar 35, 40 mil dólares a semana para estarem ali. O mais engraçado era que partilhávamos todos a mesma ancoragem, o mesmo lugar e o mesmo bar. A festa foi uma delícia, o Reveillon uma farra! Fizemos uma festinha no Sara Kali antes, com ceia e tudo, depois caímos na balada. A música estava ótima, a alegria das pessoas maravilhosa e o nosso tor alcoólico então... fazia tudo ficar absolutamente mais divertido! Depois de morrermos na manhã seguinte, arrastamos nossos corpos moribundos para ver um pouco da ilha. E gostamos tanto do Basil's Bar que acabamos ficando mais um pouco. Foi uma parada deliciosa e um acerto na escolha do nosso Reveillon.

We have had the chance to meet all sorts of travellers and their camper - today's video is a tour of the tiny home belonging to Hugo and Emeline. They are the couple from France who have been living in their #LandRoverDefender 4x4 #PopTopCamper for over 2 years now. Their overland journey video that we made is also on our channel - if you haven't seen it. Their priorities when building their camper was a hot water system, simple kitchen, storage, small desk to work at, bed, able to stand up inside their rig and also run a fridge. Everything else, they basically do outside of their vehicle. We learned quite a lot from Hugo and Emeline, not just about the interior build but also from their experience of crossing borders and overland travel. They drove from France to Japan, crossed China to Laos, Indonesia and Malaysia and are now on their way back to France via India. Hopefully you too get some good tips from them. Guest host Paul Trammell interviews Andrew Bishop of the World Cruising Club (WCC ) just prior to the 2019 Caribbean 600. Andrew completed his first Fastnet Race at age 15 and was later knocked unconscious in the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC) in 1989, without a lifejacket on. Fortunately he survived and went on to meet Jimmy Cornell shortly after, offering to get involved in newly created World Rally for Cruisers (WRC). He joined the WCC in 1991 and helped launch and run the inaugural 16-month WRC for 35 yachts. If you are interested in joining a cruising rally, Andrew discusses the benefits that WCC cruising couples have found most valuable. Andrew has spent a life on the water both in the Navy and as a sailor and he shares valuable advice on safety equipment for offshore cruisers, the rising safety standards that are required and he philosophy on being self sufficient and not expecting to be rescued.
