Take a look at a junior suite balcony on Royal Caribbean's Jewel of the Seas. Part of the Radiance class of ships, the Jewel of the Seas carries approximately 2500 guests + crew. It is an excellent size for port-intensive itineraries due to its comfortable size and ability to fit in smaller port areas. A junior suite can be a great splurge if you want extra space or to celebrate a special occasion. What a week!! We decided to take a week off the boat yard and fly to the United States to visit the Miami Boat Show. We didn't know exact what to expect from the trip. What we knew was that somehow we needed to come back with 13 rope clutches so we could properly install our new mast. Well, in the end the trip was a lot more than just buying clutches. What an experience!! If you are new here... we are a Brazilian couple that have just bought a 44ft hot galvanized steel sailboat (Dinieper Tropic 1200) and is on the mission of bringing her back to life after 22 years abandoned on the hard. Once we are done, the plan is to sail her to our home town Florianópolis so we can finish building our land base, a Tiny Shipping Container House that we are building ourselves without any prior experience. Are you curious? Don't forget to subscribe and join us every Monday for a new episode!! Yacht Delivery Chronicles: Episode #115 : The Black Lotus Hello Friends, This is a "one off episode" of Yacht Delivery Chronicles documenting a single day passage we did recently delivering a small yacht from Marina del Rey to Los Angeles Harbor. In December I was contacted by my former boss who said he wanted to give me his 1965 26' Cheoy Lee "Frisco Flyer" named The Black Lotus. The boat needs to have the teak decks removed as they are beyond saving at this point and the foredeck's core is a complete loss so that all needs to be replaced. It also needs a bottom job and all of the seacocks replaced and is past due time for new standing rigging. All of these factors considered my old boss said they couldn't justify keeping it to only use it a few times a year and asked if I wanted it. On the plus side she is a full keeled solid fiberglass hulled boat, has a solid working Perkins diesel engine and would make an amazing daysailer or long weekend boat for the local islands. The projects could be tackled slowly as she motors and sails perfectly has she is and as long as someone doesn't mind brightwork she is an absolute beauty. I love this boat very much and I a near religious believer in "Classic Plastics" and beautiful old boats so I agreed and set out to figure out how I could find this boat a new home and steward. I was working for my friend Dyer when it came time for me to get the boat moved from Marina del Rey and he told me he was interested in getting a boat and really wanted a project he could get into. I explained to him what needed to take place with this boat and said I would give it to him if he promised to save her. Dyer talked to his girlfriend Kristen and they decided they wanted to take on the project. #73t Part 1-Boat Life Checks - 100 Point Annual and One MONTH Before Passage|Sailing Sisu Leopard 45
This week we share our 100 Point Check Annually and One Month Before Passage. This is part of boat life, but one can also use this list when buying a second hand or old boat. You will still need a surveyor off course, but it will for sure give you a good estimate and overview of what the condition of the boat is for blue water cruising. There are really more than 100 points to check, and because we try to show you the practical side of it, it takes time. We were force to make it into two parts of roughly 50 points each and roughly 30 minutes each episode. We cover in detail each of the following categories in this episode: General Hull Deck and Fittings Below Decks Electrical System and Components Next episode: Required and Recommended Equipment Head & Holding Tank System Engines (in brief will full coverage in one separate episode) Fresh Water System Galley Steering Dock Lines and Fenders English version SAS Planet: https://gisenglish.geojamal.com/2018/06/download-sas-planet-nightly-all.html Thank you for all our subscribers! #safety #dangerous We finally managed to checking in to Cuba in Cayo Largo, on the south coast of Cuba. A different check in for sure but the officers were quite pleasant and we had no problems. We then move on to a little island for the night but as the wind turns just around sunset we didn’t feel safe and decided to move on a night sail. Arriving and exploring Cienfuegos the next port was quite fun. Hey guys Patreon has a new STRUCTURE, come along and have a look! We are giving you an extra video every week, yes that’s right!!!! We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it. Much love Carla and Simon

The the Over Hand Knot is one of if not the simples of knots to tie, chances are you already know how to tie it you just don't know what it is called. It is a stopper knot that can be used to stop sheet and halyards from running through cleats and pulleys. The Over Hand Knot creates a relatively small stopper and can become loose prior to load tightening the knot. If you are using small line you may need to upgrade to stopper knot which create a larger stopper. The Overhand Knot is also be called the Simple Knot or Half Knot. The Overhand Knot is one if not the first knots that everyone learns to tie, weather you know it or not. So leaning how to tie may not actually be required, this video may just be telling you something you already know.
Wrap up film of the 2020 RORC Caribbean 600 – ‘A race to get addicted to’ 12th Edition 11 Caribbean Islands 73 Entries 700 Sailors 37 Nations 600 Nautical Miles 1 Amazing race The 12th edition of the RORC Caribbean 600 attracted 73 boats from 22 nations and competitors from 37 different countries The fleet was made up of professional sailors and boats, as well as corinthian amateurs who love their offshore racing. The RORC Caribbean 600 is the only offshore race in the Caribbean. The race course which starts and finishes in Antigua is very different to any other - weaving its way around 11 islands, going as far north as St. Martin and as far south as Guadeloupe. Tilmar Hansen's TP52 Outsider (GER), skippered by Bo Teichmann was the overall winner - the first German boat to lift the RORC Caribbean Trophy and breaking a seven-year winning streak of winners from the USA. Runner-up was the defending champion, David & Peter Askew's Volvo 70 Wizard (USA), which also took Monohull Line Honours. One of the smallest boats in the race was third, Peter McWhinnie's JPK 10.80 In Theory (USA). The 22 minute film includes interviews with competitors and winners from all classes across the fleet. "This is a great race, one of the greatest experiences in my 38 years with this team," commented overall IRC winner, Tilmar Hansen: "We kept going and that is down to excellent teamwork and a well-prepared boat. Outsider is not just a German boat, the team is also from Australia, Denmark, USA, Poland, Netherlands and Austria. Congratulations to the RORC for their meticulous organisation and also to Antigua for the fantastic welcome. The RORC Caribbean 600 is a race to get addicted to!" “The 2020 RORC Caribbean 600 was a completely different event from what we’ve seen over the past two years,” explains Eddie Warden Owen, RORC CEO. “2018 and ’19 were very windy and this year, the normal, regular trade winds didn’t arrive. You might say that the race was slower by 24 hours from what we’ve seen in the past. We had 73 boats with 700 competitors from 37 countries ,so the fleet is made up of professional sail boats as well as Corinthian amateurs who love their offshore racing. We also had last year’s winner, Wizard - owned by the Askew brothers - who were back to defend their title. In the Multihull class we had an array of talent all the way through the fleet: people like Franck Cammas, Loick Peyron, Giovanni Soldini, Brian Thompson, and the fastest man in the world, Paul Larsen. “With the weather pattern bringing up unusual conditions and the lulls in the lee of the islands were significantly different from what we’ve seen in the past, the key to success was to keep the boat moving at all times. It was all about concentration and sailing the boat as fast as you can. “This year’s RORC Caribbean 600 served up some very different conditions and it showed in the way that people raced their boats - the persistence, the patience required and the speed to keep the boat going in these light conditions, and nowhere was that better shown than in the final boat that finished. The Ohlsen 35 Cabbyl Vane from the Netherlands finished third overall in IRC Three and the smiles on their faces when they finished on day six, the day after the prizegiving, tells everything there is to know about this year’s RORC Caribbean 600,” concludes Warden Owen. “The stunning scenery around the course is spectacular – the beauty of the Caribbean islands, the volcanos , the sunshine, the water. It’s just fantastic. It’s a race to get addicted to – Tilmar Hansen, Outsider, TP52 (GER) - 2020 RORC Caribbean Race overall IRC winner. Nicolai Sehested, skippering the totally new Danish team placed sixth in the event having had very little on-boat experience. They are looking forward to reviewing their performance and getting to grips with more consistency in their manoeuvres. Having focused all their efforts on the specific conditions of the Sydney event, they will now need to refocus on the more demanding San Francisco conditions.
Rome Kirby’s Team USA put in a solid performance for the first round in season two of Sail GP placing fifth in the event. They are looking forward to the next round of the series in their home country.
Phil Robertson’s Team Spain were happy with placing second three times in the five fleet races setting them up for fourth place overall in the regatta. With an all new team except for Phil, it was an remarkable performance which could have been even better had it not been for their penalty count of 9 points over the event.
Leo Takahashi, the new flight controller for Team Japan talks about his rapid rise to the senior ranks of the crew which resulted in a pleasing third place for the team. He is looking forward to taking on the heavier winds of San Francisco in the next event.
Nathan Outteridge’s Team Japan just missed out on the chance to compete in the match race by a narrow margin but they are pleased with the performance of their new team giving them a solid third place in tough competition. He talks about the impacts of wing and foil wash on close quarters racing.
Tom Slingsby’s Team Australia made a strong comeback on Day 2 of the regatta to take second place in the fleet race series, putting them up against Ben Anslie’s Team Great Britain in the match race. Tom talks about how the team improved on the second race day and describes the technical issues that resulted in a penalty at the start of the Match race.
Congratulations to Ben Ainslie, skipper of the Sail GP Great Britain Team on winning the first round of season 2 of SailGP, taking out 4 of the 5 fleet races and beating Australia in the match race. He talks about the differences in intensity between SailGP and America’s Cup racing and describes SailGP as some of the most enjoyable competition he has been involved with.
