We travel to the other end of the island to discover the Mola lighthouse, located at the highest point of Formentera. Then we will travel to the most remote and uninhabited area, on the west end of the island, Cabo Barbaria. It is an overwhelming landscape that has served as the setting for several films, it is pure poetry, only the sea, the sky, an inhospitable land and its impressive lighthouse. We will return to a time when the lighthouses ruled the oceans, and the men felt small in their remote islands in front of infinite seas. We will discover villages, landscapes, restaurants and beaches. A complete tour to our dear Formentera. Descubriremos pueblos, paisajes, restaurantes y playas. Descobrirem pobles, paisatges, restaurants i plates. How do you take down your own sailboat mast? Hire a crane, grab some experienced friend in the boatyard, and be very careful! The main mast has been leaking badly, the wires are corroded, and the rigging needs to be replaced. Seems like taking the masts down is the right decision to deal with all of these problems on our sailboat. After helping several other boats with their masts Todd decides that it's our turn to remove our masts. We hire a crane and round up some friends and tackle this project by ourselves. We're so grateful for all the help we received from other sailors we've met in the boatyard. We'll be sailing around the world with our family soon enough! @AdventureAdriftSailing - Video on using wax ring to stop mast leaks. https://youtu.be/UAk1YVIa5xg We are a family preparing to sail around the world in our electric sailboat. #coronavirus #livingonboard #kidsonboats How is the Coronavirus pandemic affecting us as a sailing family? Well, we're currently in Spain - one of the most severely affected countries in Europe. When you live on a sailboat plans constantly change, it's just part of the lifestyle, but the recently declared 'state of emergency' here in Spain means for the next few months (when we would normally be starting the new sailing season) we may possibly be trapped. The day has finally come: we are about to depart from Cape Verde and cross the Atlantic on our own sailboat!!! Ryan is more anxious than I’ve ever seen him, and I simply can’t wait to leave the dock. Finally, around noon, we can’t push the moment any further and we untie the lines at Mindelo Marina and give ourselves to the ocean. We aren’t up to a great start, with some crazy chop and maneuvers gone wrong. But we eventually settle, and at the end of the day, we are officially on our way towards Martinique! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** JOIN THE CREW! ** Join our virtual crew of Patrons at: https://www.patreon.com/ryanandsophiesailing ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ** MUSIC ** 🎶 In this video: Young Lords - Under the Sun (Artlist) Sahara Skylight - Senegal Song (Epidemic Sound) Music by Ashton Edminster - Break the Distance - https://thmatc.co/?l=9149A5AE Fvmeless - Really Go (Artlist) Stonekeepers - Sad and Lonely road (Epidemic Sound) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ** GEAR ** ⛵️Our boat: Polar Seal, 2007 Beneteau Oceanis 40, owners version (2 cabins layout). Another 100 miles to go before arriving in a new country to start a new project. But first we need to navigate for the next 22 hours through oil and gas rigs. And we need to time our entrance into Miri Marina perfectly because the sand bar along the coast is treacherous to sail across in rough weather. That means sailing nice and gently to arrive at the precise time we have in mind... With the unpredictable wind of the transitional period, it's essential that one of us stays on watch at all times to deal with any sudden changes in direction. We finished the 500-mile passage with a slow day sail and motor-sail overnight. At a mile and a half out, the depth drops to 8m, shelving to 3m. The marina entrance is notorious for silting up and the depth keeps changing. So we planned to arrive on a rising tide, and as it's a spring we should have enough depth... We settle into our new home for the next month and start to prepare the boat for the hike to Japan and PNW next year. Of course, one of the main jobs is going to be installing a heating system. But of immediate importance is to seal the overhead hatch in our saloon which has been leaking on and off for ages. Leaving our home for the first time in 2.5 years!! https://www.sailingnandji.com/ In this episode of Sailing Nandji, it is time to recap what has went down. We have not been able to upload any videos recently due to our recent incident and being forced to work hard on the boat, around the clock. Lets take it back and tell the story that has lead up this point. We have just dropped Marley off at his doggy resort where he will spend time over christmas and we have docked Nandji in Port Takola marina in Krabi province, Thailand. Here we plan to leave Nandji tied up to the dock whilst we ourselves fly back to Australia for Christmas. This is the first time Yosh has been home in over 2.5 years! Leaving Nandji all alone is a weird feeling and the preparation that needs to be put into making this all happen has been exhausting. With Nandji safe, we head off to the airport and fly back to our home land Australia! With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off from Australia sailing to the Pacific! We have since cruised through New Caledonia, Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and then onto the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the years to come. With a new engine, we continued onto Thailand, then back down into Indonesia and specifically West Sumatra to live the island life and chase the surf. With our Sailing plans changing, we have returned to Thailand to wait for the weather and begin our journey to the northern route of the Indian Ocean to Sri Lanka before heading south to Chagos and across the Indian Ocean once cyclone season has finished and the trade winds begin! The adventure is just beginning as we plan to sail our Nandji girl around the world!! We departed the east coast of Australia in July 2017 and have since sailed over 10000nm offshore. We have explored some amazing countries and met some beautiful people along the way. We have experienced so many different and diverse cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our lives doing it! The adventure is just beginning as we sail West with the trades around the World! SHARK! Under our boat at a popular anchorage in New Caledonia we spotted what we believe to be a Grey Nurse shark… we’re not entirely sure though so if you know, leave a comment. We head out for a fun wave at Passe Dumbea with plenty of party waves. Then we discover a local boat that has wrecked on the shore at île Uéré. We set a challenge for the kids to build a shelter on the island and I guess you’ll have to decide if the boys or girls made a better one. Our new engine control panel arrives from Scotland and we install it ourselves before heading back out to the surf to get the captain a BARREL!

Fear not, but be correctly informed and take the right precautions to ensure the safety of friends, family, and your community. Deducting from conversations with American friends and family as well as observing advice from the news media, Dr. Michell Savu is very concerned that if the US does not quickly learn from the draconian methods that China and Korea successfully implemented to reduce outbreaks, that the US could experience suffering and death rates similar to Italy as a result of a lack of seriousness and diligence. There is no one whose perspective is better qualified to advise than Beijing based US surgeon Dr. Savu has been on the front line of solving the coronavirus crisis in China and is still very concerned for friends, family, and America during this trying pandemic time. STAY TUNED TOWARD THE END OF THE VIDEO where she gives you lifesaving information on immediate steps you should take to protect yourself and loved ones as well as detailed information regarding physical symptoms of Covid-19 so you will know if you have it and then what you should do once it is suspected. Eileen and I are thankful for such an intelligent, caring and hardworking person such as Michelle and her son Daniel and we hope you will appreciate her half as much we do. Michelle is writing a children's book and here is a video link to show your children to educate them how handwashing can help protect them. We are Eileen and Brown Councill. Welcome to our channel and a glimpse into our life adventure! 2020 was a year of uncertainty and change (for all of us, right?), but we overcame the challenges and decided it was time to chase our dream, to sail around the world! Did I mention that we had very NO sailing experience? Before leaving Qingdao, China, our home of 4 years, we sold almost all of our earthly possessions and started our international search to find the right sailboat that we would call "home." After 5 months of unanticipated twists and turns, we found what we were looking for, a used Leopard 44' Catamaran located in St. Lucia. So, here begins our journey, filled with unmatched excitement and honestly, a bit of trepidation as well. We have much to learn as we travel the world on our floating home and we intend to document that journey and share it with you. We are so glad you have decided to join us, and we hope that you will find our story so compelling that it will inspire you to chase your dreams too! As a viewer, we consider you to be part of our family and look forward to getting to know you. Don't hesitate to comment on our videos and ask questions. We will do our best to answer every correspondence! All we ask is that you have patience with us as we work really hard to improve our camera/video techniques and ability to tell a story. Hopefully, you will be as BLOWN AWAY from watching, as we are in experiencing and producing our adventures! HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT US? If you wish to support our video efforts, all we ask is that you SUBSCRIBE, give a THUMBS UP, SHARE our videos with your friends, AND COMMENT! WOULD YOU LIKE TO GET TO KNOW US MORE DEEPLY? In this episode of Sailing A B Sea we finally remove the exhaust section off the engine and discover that it has a turbo charger attached. The bad news is that the turbo charger hasn't been serviced and is seized up. That means that we have to strip down the turbo charger and see if we can make it work again.
