I step onboard Nutshell for the first time since the explosion to see the damage firsthand. Thankfully this was after Magnus had tidied it up so it would be a less harrowing experience. We remove the dodger on Nutshell ready to replace the ‘opaque’ clears with ones that we can actually see through! The emptying of the boat continues. Numerous sharks in Compass Cay Marina and ramming in the reef in Staniel Cay :( After 3 nights moored in Cambridge Cay, we navigate the tricky entrance to Compass Cay, anchoring in the channel south of the marina. In Compass Cay marina we observe the amazing family of tame nurse sharks, then venture across the beautifully kept island to an amazing beach. The next morning, we briefly anchored at the same beach to capture the scene on the drone before a very gentle sail south for a quick stop at Staniel Cay. Not a good day: on entering, we hit a reef, and were also unsuccessful in provisioning fresh produce. The shops were all empty! After drinks and lunch in the Staniel Cay Yacht Club we motored back north, passing a whale on our way. Just before dusk we anchored in the shelter of beautiful Bell Island and had a sunset drone flight. 28-30 Jan 2020

We sail to Saint Barths and St Martin where we have nice drone views of another Outremer 5X raising and lowering their sails. The Meri Crew finishes up in the Exumas and sails to Florida 2020. We have a last week of adventures in the Exumas including going deep into a cave and swimming in a subterranean pool full of stalagmites! Then we visit the very remote Green Cay where we are the only boat there. Finally we make a two day passage back to Florida catching some nice Mahi Mahi along the way and crossing the Gulf Stream in some sloppy conditions with great speed.

Sono nelle mia branda quando sento una prima orzatina. Dopo poco la barca parte in straorza e qualche secondo dopo il segnale di uscire tutti sul ponte. M'infilo scarpe e salvagente e esco...fa muoio...accendiamo le luce del ponte: Il gennaker è strappato completamente e la barca fila a più di 10 nodi con grand parte del tessuto in acqua. Do un occhio attorno a me per capire bene la situazione, la testa un po confusa dal risveglio veloce. Mi scappa allora una risata alla vista di Andrea nudo con solo salvagente e mutande...anche lui era a dormire. Dopo avere sganciato lo gennaker ritorniamo a dormire malgrado la tensione ancora presente e la barca continua sua rotta con randa e genoa Durante la giornata,una balena si è affiancata alla barca, per poco, pero è sempre emozionante. Nicole ha fatto le lasagne per pranzo....spettacolo!

Because : what if you are sailing in the red sea and you have not port to enter anymore? On the 17th of April 2020 we will leave marina Port Ghalib in Egypt, heading south towards Sudan and Djibouti and finally Maldives. We will take it easy, enjoy the beautiful reefs of the red sea and keep an eye on the corona regulations of the ports we pass. Since many countries are closed we don't know where we will be allowed to go on land again, but we can survive 4 month without seeing anybody :) This journey is only a small part of our trip that started 2 years ago.
