Vlog #7 This time we sail further down the Oregon coast from Tillamook to Newport. We an early start out of Garabaldi Harbour, so we can catch the high slack tide on the Tillamook River Bar. We had some bird friends stop by, which Jessica is not a fan of! This was supposed to be a (We hoped) 12 hour voyage, however we did not get up enough speed to anchor before dark. BUT we DID get the sails up, not a complete motoring Decorum this time! Once we were in an anchored there was another gale blowing and restrictions on the bar so we decided to stay there and wait it out! The next few days we spent going into town to provision and dingying around the harbour checking out the sea lions, and the beautiful sunsets. We also went for a 10 mile dinghy ride up the river and discovered the town of Toledo. They had really awesome day sailer boats that had been built there. we also found train museum but unfortunately it was closed on the day we were there so we just checked out what was outside. --------------------------------- Instagram- @Sailingdecorum --------------------------------- --------------------------------- *WHO ARE WE?* •We are a Canadian couple, Travis and Jessica. Today's vlog: We are manoeuvring out of the reef trough the shallow pass again. This time with high tide so we have 0,5 meter extra water under the keel ;) We set sail to the big island of Wadi Gemal, a national parc. And that's how it feels when we enter the anchorage :) Yess we are doing a GIVEAWAY!! Win a full week on board of Messenger for 2 persons. check the details in/under DailyVlog 25 On the 17th of April 2020 we left marina Port Ghalib in Egypt, heading south towards Sudan and Djibouti and finally Maldives. We will take it easy, enjoy the beautiful reefs of the red sea and keep an eye on the corona regulations of the ports we pass. Since many countries are closed we don't know where we will be allowed to go on land again, but we can survive 4 month without seeing anybody :) This journey is only a small part of our trip that started 2 years ago. We got the sailing- skills on our friends yacht 'Shalom' when we joined them on a trip from the Netherlands to Spain. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtDOpi7ydzdcRK1H7fEiQFQ . In Spain we decided to go with our own boat, and in no time we were the happy owners of 'Messenger'. We left may 2018 and started vlogging from the beginning, we made 15 minute video's of our adventures, the nature and the many special people we met. We set off on 29th February 2020, and the virus was declared a pandemic on 11th March 2020. Lockdown in the UK only came on 23rd March - 2 days before we landed in the Caribbean. With only a basic satellite messaging system on board, we had no access to the news. Our friends and family were instructed not to tell us any bad news, because we needed to focus on keeping the boat and crew safe. Landing was a bit of a shock.
