Das Wochenende begann mit einer Schrecksekunde! Unser Auto war gerade zur Inspektion bevor wir losgefahren sind, da hatten wir auf der Autobahn erst seltsame Flattergeräusche und kurz darauf ein stark vibrierendes Lenkrad... Von der Autobahn runter direkt eine Werkstatt angefahren und der Meister stellte fest, dass man offenbar die Räder nicht wieder festgeschraubt hatte, nachdem man die Bremsen erneuert hatte! Die Schrauben waren nur mit der Hand angedreht! Das hätte böse enden können, wir hätten fast ein Rad verloren, wenn nicht beide... Nina hatte dann erstmal genug vom Fahren und hat direkt ein VLog aufgenommen. Ohne weitere Katastrophen ging es dann zum ersten Mal seit Langem in ein komplettes Arbeitswochenende auf unserer Segelyacht Mystra! Eigentlich wollten wir nur den Lack an ein paar Stellen ausbessern, aber die Frau im Hause hat dann aus ästhetischen Gründen beschlossen, dass die ganze Bordwand neu zu lackieren ist! Daneben gab es dann doch noch einige Einzelstellen am Unterwasserschiff, an den Leinendurchführungen und natürlich die restlichen Arbeiten im Cockpit, die wir am Sonntag zuvor nicht mehr geschafft haben. So sieht Segeln in Zeiten von Corona aus: Nach vier Tagen auf See und knapp 500 zurückgelegten Seemeilen, werden wir am Weg nach Curaçao zunächst von Delfinen und dann von der Küstenwache in Empfang genommen. Wir segeln mit einer Sondergenehmigung - eigentlich gilt rund um die ABC-Inseln eine Sperrzone für maritimen Verkehr mit nur wenigen Ausnahmen. Angekommen im Hafen von Willemstad müssen wir dann innerhalb weniger Stunden das Boot so säubern, dass wir es guten Gewissens für zwei Wochen zurücklassen können. 48 days on the Indian Ocean. I sat in a calm for two weeks ,sailed through several storms and Guppy was knocked down. Even though the Indian Ocean was rough and frustrating sailing. We've never been apart for more than a few days. Now we're looking at seven weeks! Lisa will be home keeping the business going and Dave will be crewing Mark's Lagoon 420 'Good Life' on our mission to move the 42' catamaran from her summer home in the Sassafras River Marina near Georgetown Maryland to her winter destination in Georgetown Bahamas. Thank you for the opportunity Mark! New camera gear, a finicky new gimbal, new mics and foul weather gear, and barely any room for clothing in the new dry bag, packed and ready, it was time to join Mark and Bernard in Toronto, and fly to Pittsburgh to meet up with Brian, who flew in from the UK to join us. We jumped in a rental car and headed for the marina. There's a lot of work to be done to prep her for her journey down the river to the Chesapeake and out into the coastal US Atlantic ocean for her journey south. Fluids and gear needed to be checked, and several trips to grocery stores, and marine shops were required to get us prepped.
