We sailed from Tetepare to Ghizo Island, anchoring outside a Resort to witness a pod of Spinner Dolphins near the boat. Sanbis Resort is located on Mbambanga Island a short boat ride from the town of Gizo. The resort caters for fisherman, surfers, divers, sailors and anybody who wants to spend a relaxing time enjoying Western Province hospitality. We spent several days scuba diving the nearby reefs including a spectacular trip to The Toa Maru, a large Japanese cargo ship sunk during the war at the northern part of Ghizo Island.

This week we sail away from our lockdown home, St Vincent and the Grenadines to make our way North to Martinique. Choosing a very gloomy time to sail, we make our way through a Sahara dust cloud that is covering the whole Caribbean and leaving a not so clear path for us to navigate through. Join our crew! With great visibility we swim through some kelp forests and find someones lost anchor and see their chain wrap around a large rock. We also found a 5 foot long shark sleeping in a nest of kelp and saw a ton of horn sharks. In the afternoon our friends John and Alanna arrived from Santa Barbara onboard their Beneteau Oceanis 40 SV Felurian. ✍️17 août, cette fois c’est sûre, nous quittons Zanzibar, enfin du moins l’île car la prochaine fait encore partie de l’atoll du même nom. Mais notre assurance serait-elle contestée par un nouvel ennui de notre moteur tribord ! Le vilain donne encore du fil à retordre à mon capitaine qui se creuse la tête sur les causes plausibles de son étouffement. Le malaise semblant asphyxier notre dolant au démarrage, il émet l’hypothèse qu’un crasseux bouchon obstrue la sortie de la cuve à gasoil et confirme sa supposition en expulsant l’importun par trois coups de pompe à vélo dans la durite concernée ! Désembarrassés provisoirement de la gêne, nous pouvons poursuivre notre plan initial… Attirés donc par les échos sauvages et préservés de la verte Pemba, nous levons l’ancre à 8 heures pour traverser la trentaine de milles qui nous séparent d’elle. Un Sud-Ouest très léger assure le gonflage de la voile préférée de mon bébé, qui profite de cette faible brise pour faire voler son drône adoré ! Merveilleuse réunion des éléments pour que les dauphins apparaissent à ce moment-là et nous éblouissent encore une fois ! Déjà aux premiers regards, la « verdoyance » de la grande sœur d’Uguja prouve que la fertilité de ses terres n’est pas une légende. D’ailleurs, ici, le terrain est profitable à la culture de rapport, notamment celle du giroflier qui constitue la principale ressource de l’île. Et c’est à l’abris de la végétation de Makongwe island, au sud-ouest de Pemba que nous prenons notre premier mouillage. Protégée par tous les vents, la baie d’un calme exemplaire apporte la quiétude absolue ! 18 août, une pirogue approche, à son bord, un homme, torse nu, nous tend une coco, nous lui offrons des cigarettes, en retour, il nous offre un grand sourire. Son village, juste à quelques mouvements de rames de Blacky attire notre curiosité et quoi de plus normal d’aller nous présenter à nos voisins ! Sur l’étroite rive parenthèsée d’une vigoureuse mangrove, un semblant de plage dissimule un sinueux accès. Guidés par cette piste profondément marquée de ruissèlements asséchés, nous arrivons au bout de quelques mètres au seuil du petit bourg agricole. Accueillis par de plaisants « Karibus », nous nous mêlons avec réserve à la population. Nous nous observons mutuellement, quelques rires nous avertissent et nous amusent, les plus jeunes nous suivent entre les maisons de terre. Une maman assise devant le perron de sa maison m’interpelle ! Elle porte dans ses bras sa fille fardée de Khôl ! Ici, on met cette poudre cosmétique aux bébés pour chasser les puissances surnaturelles. Toutes ces vies nous émeuvent et nous apprennent tant ! Dans la chaleur qui commence à arriver, notre matinée nous a exténuée, pourtant nous ne pouvons-nous empêcher de repartir explorer… Non loin, comme un appel, l’îlot Kwata nous aguiche ! Il va être la douceur de notre journée, la rémission de notre bien-être. Sur ses langues de sable, des oiseaux candides ennoblissent l’espace et les coquillages par centaines nous enchantent. À la pêche aux moules, moules, moules… vous connaissez la suite, mais si, nous nous voulons encore y aller, c’est trop bien ! Enfin, nous avons trouvé comment les ramasser ! Il y en a des milliers et mon Tchoupi qui adore ça, va se régaler, nos bananas bateau aussi vont les aimer ! Nous allons les initier ! 20 août, Mudy avait raison, la transition de saison semble bien avoir débuter. La platitude de l’eau en est la preuve mais ce temps grisonnant tristounet nous ennui et il va falloir nous occuper. Changement de mouillage ! David Vincent les a vu… nous aussi, à Ras Domoni ! Dans cette baie de Kingogi, les bizarreries se manifestent sous différentes formes, de l’étoile de mer, rouge vive à l’holothurie inquiétant en passant par l’oursin aliène ! Et il ne s’est pas gêné de me perforer le pied ce mauvais… Est-ce la taciturne météo qui stimule mon petit mari à un plan machiavélique, ou son imagination qui l’encourage à garnir nos heures ? Catamarans are vulnerable to lightning, and when a mast is hit by lightning the result is often catastrophic for electronics and electrical systems. Pierre, Lisa and Tiller are in Ontario in a 2-week quarantine. Before leaving BioTrek in Boston, we put the lightning protection in the water and removed the wind and VHF equipment from the mast. On BioTrek our lightning protection system is removed at sea, and we use when at anchor or at the dock where most strikes seem to occur. In this video we explain why lightning protection is complicated on a catamaran, especially with a rotating mast, as compared to a monohull. Wed discuss the system we have for our catamaran as compared to lightning protection we have used on our previous boats, including monohulls. Once our quarantine is finished , we visit with family, tour Stoney Lake, and swap sailing stories. Lisa’s father Keith talks about when he fell off a mast and was paralyzed. In this episode we experience all the best of what we consider to be ideal Bahamas cruising: Buddy boats to socialize with, friends supporting each other, and all in an incredibly beautiful and largely untouched paradise, abundant with sea life and filled with endless miles of pristine, white sand beaches. And add to that Delos's giant satellite dome for Wi-fi and what more could we ask for? 😉 When the wind dies out, a rarity this time of year in the Bahamas, we take advantage and explore an area normally off limits for anchoring. It's the epitome of off-the-beaten path and we enjoy seeing only our buddy boat (Delos) the whole time we're here. We dive some incredible reefs that are typically inaccessible due to crashing waves and are treated to the most magical dive we've had to date. Plus we catch a lobster, lion fish and grouper and enjoy the pleasure and satisfaction that comes from living off the ocean. With winds slowly increasing but not quite back to the typically prevailing winds, we meet the rest of our Covid Crew at another spot nearby and we enjoy a bon fire together. Slowing down, being close to nature and experiencing the type of peace that comes from spending time in a stunningly beautiful, unpopulated paradise. After a mentally testing morning of three hours of postponements, the RS Aero fleet was released. A fluctuating breeze, punchy tide and steep chop really challenged the sailors, results reflected this across the fleets which means it's still all to play for tomorrow!

In der gegenwärtigen Situation wirkt das auf den ersten Blick befremdlich. Denn gleich gegenüber liegt die griechische Insel Kastelorizio (Meis), zuletzt Schauplatz des Säbelrasselns. Doch die Parade ist alles andere als eine Provokation! Die Bewohner von Kaş und Meis pflegen enge Freundschaften. Die Parade ist vielmehr ein Bekenntnis zu Staatsgründer Kemal Atatürk. Und der "Kemalismus" ist Bestandteil des Parteiprogramms der CHP - der Opposition. Nicht alles ist eben so, wie es zunächst aussieht!

Our family sailing adventure this week was at Home Bay on Motutapu Island and Te Wharau Bay on Waiheke Island. We show more about our boat life, Blake and Toby have a lunchbox on the boat say they can feed themselves but this time they ate most of it before morning tea! We play on a swing, find a NZ eel that Toby touched. This is our season finale, at the end we finish with a Toi Toi fight at Te Wharau Bay. We are two brothers, aged 4 and 7, who love going on sailing family adventures - exploring the outdoors and finding super cool wild animals, bugs and marine life. So along with our parents, we’re sailing the world, exploring islands, and looking for interesting wildlife. We start our adventure sailing New Zealand but dream of sailing around the Mediterranean some day. We love our planet and want to look after our environment, so through our travels we hope other kids will feel inspired to care for our planet and wildlife too. This was my first solo sail on Sula, a Hanse 385. I kept it simple and just sailed from Largs Marina to Lamlash. I managed to pick up a mooring buoy from the bow but would probably pick it up from the stern next time. Great to get out and get some fresh air. It was a bit stressful going solo for the first time but it certainly gets easier with practice. One of the reasons I chose the Hanse 385 was the self-tacking jib and simplicity of sailing singlehanded. Sula is a Hanse 385 (2013)

I got my first 52 blue water nautical miles under my belt sailing from Halifax, NS to Lunenburg, NS, Was it fun ??? "Yes" and "No" ? "Yes" because you have to start somewhere, and I did, and "No" because I got seasick and was not in a condition to continue filming. I was told that hopefully this would go away with experience and I intend to keep going no matter what ... We left our Horseshoe Island Park anchorage, NS at 8:00 in the morning on August 17, 2020 and we arrived to Lunenburg harbour at 3 o'clock at night next day. It took us 18 hours of sailing ( the weather was not 100% cooperative) the distance that you would cover by car in an hour... Regardless sailing is better then sex (smile) !!! ===================== ABOUT ME Back in 2019 I decided I did not want to be a 9 to 5  type guy anymore.  I got fed up with this rat race like routine city life and I got hooked on the idea of sailing and living on a boat full time. But with 0 (zero) expirience  that would be difficult to achieve... I took a Transport Canada course and received my first boat license... I watched tons of videos about boats and sailing on youtube and got myself registered with dozen boat related forums and groups on a facebook... In May 2020 I came across a facebook post. Sergey was looking for a crew to bring his boat to the Caribbean. I travelled 1300 km from Montreal to Halifax to join him on his boat. ==================================== Ничего вам не продаю. Wir hatten uns auf unserem neuen Liegeplatz in Heiligenhafen gerade etwas eingelebt und ein paar Arbeiten am Schiff durchgeführt - unter anderem den Austausch der Starterbatterie - da bekamen wir Besuch über das Pfingstwochenden, um den Überführungstörn von der Nordsee in die Ostsee gebührend abzuschließen. Es ging an einem sonnigen und fast windstillen Morgen los. Unter der Fehmarnsundbrücke her ging es in die Mecklenburger Bucht. An Fehmarn vorbei frischte der Wind endlich etwas auf und wir konnten segeln. Kurz vor dem Ziel drehte der Wind auf gegenan, aber wir erreichten trotzdem recht früh unseren Zielhafen Kühlungsborn. Nach Sightseeing und einem Abendessen im Restaurant bestaunten wir den tollen Sonnenuntergang und gingen in die Kojen. Am nächsten Morgen wurden wir von einem schlagenden Fall geweckt, was dann in einem ebenso herrlichen Sonnenaufgang klariert wurde. Der Schlag zurück nach Westen war von besten Segelbedingungen und Seekrankheit geprägt, zeitweise war mehr als die Hälfte der Crew außer Gefecht. Eu já tinha visto esse lugar no vídeo dos Bora e tinha achado um charme, mas não imaginava que era tão legal. Infelizmente, por conta do nosso botinho guerreiro a gente acaba tendo algumas limitações (tipo de de Mt Hartman para a Le Phare Bleu e voltar), então aproveitamos que estávamos na baía de Woburn para ir pra lá e pra cá sem maiores preocupações. Le Phare Bleu é uma marina bastante conhecida por Grenada e logo que chegamos notamos o porquê. É "outro nível" de beleza! Não as as outras sejam feias, mas é que essa é muito mais bem cuidada, charmosa, sofisticada... e cara. Fato. Mas vale a visita, principalmente por causa do navio farol, a grande atração da marina. Fico pensando como alguém pensou em trazer um navio farol da Suécia para Grenada NAVEGANDO! Enfim, valeu a pena, porque ele virou o coração de um lugar absolutamente lindo!
