Normally Mark lives on Zinga, a Bruce Roberts ketch, moored up in Turkey. Unfortunately he flew to South Africa early this year. Because of covid it's impossible for him to come back this year. Sadly we had to haul out his boat for winter. Mark, everybody hopes you back soon. Stay safe!
My first solo sailing adventure! From Tønsberg to Arendal non-stop. It took me 14 hours and 30 minutes. Around 70 nautical miles Backstory; This was my first sailboat experience. I "learned" to sail on this boat with some help and youtube clips. I had to sell my not so expensive car to afford this boat. Payed around 3000 Euros at the time. After a year, i moved onboard to become a liveaboard to save money for a bigger boat, which resulted to Fishcake. Idea of sailing came while watching other sailing boats gliding across the water. When i found out that i could sort of afford it, i started watching sailing youtubers to determine how big of a boat i needed. Sailing Frenchman was the channel that inspired me the most. It can feel lonely, left out & down right depressing just going through our daily routines & catching any spare time the kids would have for us. Well, we decided to do something about that, we set off on a journey around Australia in our RV until karma had other plans. Our lives took a different direction after this, which allowed us to grab a lifetime dream that we didn’t think was ever possible but in reality, it was. Please join two boomers as we embark on our new chapter & how we manage life & family from our MacIntosh 47’ sailboat heading home to Australia.
Visiting Peggy's Cove, NS on Sep 24, 2020 (English version) =========================================== ABOUT ME Back in 2019 I decided I did not want to be a 9 to 5 type guy anymore. I got fed up with this rat race like routine city life and I got hooked on the idea of sailing and living on a boat full time. But with 0 (zero) expirience that would be difficult to achieve... I took a Transport Canada course and received my first boat license... I watched tons of videos about boats and sailing on youtube and got myself registered with dozen boat related forums and groups on a facebook... In May 2020 I came across a facebook post. Sergey was looking for a crew to bring his boat to the Caribbean. I travelled 1300 km from Montreal to Halifax to join him on his boat. The trip was cancelled two months later for legitimate reasons. Since I made my way to Nova Scotia I decided to discover this beatiful province before going back to Montreal ==================================== Ничего вам не продаю. I'm not selling you anything. I am not buying anything from you either. I shoot video for the soul and from the heart! No te vendo nada. No te compro nada.
Right after Peggy's Cove where I spent more or less the whole day (about 6-8 hours) I headed further South. One hour later I made it to Chester - a beautiful small town on a coast, spent there the rest of the day, strolling down the streets, visiting downtown Chester and a local yacht club .... Next morning I left Chester driving South to the next destination, taking the same scenic route along the coast ... ===================== ABOUT ME Back in 2019 I decided I did not want to be a 9 to 5 type guy anymore. Hon hör till Norvalla IF:s flitigaste tränare.

She's BENETEAU designed, American made, and her playground includes the rivers, lakes, and coasts of North America. The new Gran Turismo 36 boasts ingeniously designed living spaces that can easily accomodate up to seven and a zipwake dynamic trim control system to make challenging navigation second-nature. Let the games begin! Lear more: https://www.beneteau.com/us/gran-turismo/gran-turismo-36-0 -- About BENETEAU -- The first BENETEAU boats sailed from the shipyards of Croix-de-Vie over 135 years ago. Since that time, the BENETEAU brand has been synonymous with quality and innovation to all those who have taken to the water – first by the fishermen who made their livelihood from the sea and then by the legions of recreational boaters around the globe. Over the years, our commitment to innovating and embracing ideas, no matter how unconventional, has been at the forefront of who we are in order to bring you the best boat possible. BENETEAU was one of the first boatbuilders many years ago to use computer-aided design (CAD) as well as lighter, stronger composite building materials. We’ve also been at the cutting edge of using greener materials and processes to do our part in protecting the incredible world which we explore. However, all this innovation doesn’t mean we’ve turned our back on tradition. One thing we’ve discovered in over a century of boatbuilding is that new-world innovations work best with old-school craftsmanship. This combination has resulted in some of the most iconic sailboats and powerboats in the world – supremely seaworthy yachts renowned for their sense of style, luxury, and comfort along with their creative use of space and new technologies. -- Philosophy -- We’re a lot like you. We love the water in all its forms – the ocean, bays, lakes, and rivers. And we love sharing the boating lifestyle with our family and friends. This love manifests itself in every BENETEAU built in any one of our many manufacturing facilities worldwide. Every BENETEAU sailboat and powerboat on the water reflects the best efforts of the finest architects, designers, and craftsmen along with the highest quality materials and the latest innovations. When you purchase a BENETEAU, you become a valued member of our BENETEAU family. For this reason, our after-sale service is second to none as evidenced by the multitude of National Marine Manufacturers CSI Awards for Excellence in Customer Service. At the core of this outstanding service is our exceptional dealer network. Every one of our authorized BENETEAU dealers will be there for you – from choosing the right yacht to the handover and beyond. Your dealer will be your able guide when it comes to maintaining your boat properly and will help you maximize the return on your investment when it comes time to step up to another BENETEAU – and it usually does! We wouldn’t have it any other way. Hey Everyone! It's been quite a while since I've given an update due to the fact that COVID-19 has canceled 4 of my cruises in 2020. I have 2 more cruises schedules though for early 2020 so I've got my fingers crossed that those cruises will happen. In the mean time, the RCL stock is very low and I've been investing in it. A little known fact is that if you own 100 shares of RCL stock, you can get onboard credits every time you sail. Here is a link to the benefits of a stock holder: RCL Stockholder Benefits: https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2019/06/26/all-about-the-royal-caribbean-shareholder-discount CCL Stockholder Benefits: https://www.carnivalcorp.com/shareholder-information/shareholder-benefit ============================================= Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Caskey-Cruising-615647035589494

Our new ship has officially become a Guppy. The last months we have been working really hard to get Guppy in good shape and ready for our Atlantic Roundtrip starting in November 2020. After many thoughts I decided to name this vessel Guppy as well. Of course she is very different from the previous Guppy, but for me this vessel stands for a lot of things that are connected to my ”little”( not so little but smaller 🙂 Guppy. Even though this is a completely different goal, it’s certainly a big one that involves a lot of perseverance, persistence, preparation, stubbornness and hard work. But this ship is also the start of a new era in my life just as my ”little” Guppy was. I know she will teach the many teenagers who will sail with her just as much, as the previous Guppy did for me. And most importantly it’s the adventure I had on ”little” Guppy that inspired me to set up this foundation, to give more teenagers and children the chance to experience this as well. Are you ready for the biggest adventure of your life? And you are between 9 - 17 years old? Come sailing with us to explore the beauty of this world and learn along the way. Check out our voyage options in the link below: https://lauradekkerworldsailingfoundation.com/voyages/ The Laura Dekker World Sailing Foundation has been established to provide programs for children and teenagers to develop life skills like team work, self confidence, responsibility, creativity, and leadership. After interviewing captains from around the world, I found a captain to help me complete my sailing circumnavigation on SV Brick House, after 13 years of sailing around the world with my late husband, Patrick Childress. Captain Michael Hayward was right here at the Royal Cape Yacht Club (RCYC), and is packing up his life to sail away with me. It is really hard for me to believe that I could get so lucky so fast after losing Patrick. It sort of freaks me out when I look from the outside in...i. know this is really really fast, but it's feeling pretty right too. I was pretty determined and focused about what I wanted in a new sailing companion. I didn't wait for it to drop in my lap, thats for sure. Life is too precious to wait around for a miracle... I will always miss Patrick, every single day, and he will always be within me, guiding my every decision...but with the pressure of immigration, being in a foreign port on my own, I had to put a move on things. That circumstance is likely a blessing in disguise...pushing me forward faster than most newly widowed women could ever cope with. You do what you gotta do I suppose...and I need to sail onwards...soon. And I will. Who knows what the future really holds...but then, do you ever really know? ▬ FOLLOW ALONG! ▬▬ ✩Instagram: http://www.Instagram.com/svBrickHouse ✩ Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/SYBrickhouse ✩ Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/SVBrickhouse ✩ My blog: :http://www.WhereIsBrickHouse.com ✩Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/PatrickChildress ✩Tshirts and other: https://www.WhereIsBrickHouse.com/store Support Future Sailing Videos: 🍯(Tip Jar) http://whereisbrickhouse.com/tip-jar/ 🍯 PATREON: https://www.patreon.com/SVBrickHouse ⛵️FREE Predictwind membership: https://www.predictwind.com/?ref=rebeccachildress (Upgrade to Paid Membership in a month and this supports SV Brick House) ⛵️ TWO FREE SAILING COURSES: http://whereisbrickhouse.com/sailing-school (Upgrade to More courses and this supports SV Brick House) ⏩Start your Amazon shopping here: https://amzn.to/2K9MmuA ✩Tshirts and other: https://www.WhereIsBrickHouse.com/store #sailingAfrica #PatrickChildressSailing #TravelsAnimals Music Credits Shine your Little Light - Mini Vandals Wood - Don Henig Dance of the Fireflies - Nathan Moore Kraya - Freedom Trail Hulu Ukelele - Chris Haugen Poured - Lauren Duski Savannah Sunshine - Don Henig Country Thump - TrackTribe

Are we sinking? This is a disaster!!! Or is it? The Bilge is full of water but are we actually sinking???? In this episode Tim goes down below only to find the sole boards swimming in water! We sail 7 hours from St Ives to Padstow in the pitch dark frantically pumping water out of the bilge for hours on end. But what a treat at the end of the journey. Padstow is absolutely stunning. We are Andy, Melissa and Jack, a sailing family based in North Wales, looking for a bluewater sailing yacht to take us around the world. We currently have a very small 24ft Snapdragon Sailing yacht based in Caernarfon but there are bigger boats on the horizon. We're about to embark on a Cape Verde navigational feat few have done. A full circumnavigation of Santa Antao island. Conditions were perfect for this. So here we are starting a major sailing adventure. I'm accompanied by two great friends, Jodie and Sidney. A Brit and a Kriulu. We start from Mindelo on Sao Vicente island and head for Santa Antao. Spend one night at anchor and then head out to a fishing spot in the middle of the Atlantic. There we snorkel to see what's beneath. It's very spooky, as there are tales of sharks roaming the area. #sailing #cirvumnavigation #sailingcapeverde Some say it’s The Best Sailing Channel on YouTube! We cruise through Long Island Sound, the East River, and Hell Gate on our sailboat. We finally set off sailing on our around the world voyage. We leave the safety and security of Jamestown and Newport, RI, our home port, for the last time. : 0:23 Poppin Bottles We pop a bottle of champagne to celebrate the voyage and christen the new name on the boat, Sweet Ruca, as we sail into the sunset. It felt like our shakedown cruise was over, and the adventure was really starting. Roxy the sailboat dog tried to get into every camera shot she could. 0:44 Intro 1:01 Champagne Sailing & Sunset Cruise We enter the Block Island Sound as we sail past Point Judith into the night. We navigate at night through the tricky Long Island Sound entrance. It's not that bad really, but for a first-timer to the area, it was a bit intimidating. To add to the level of excitement there were many ships, boats, buoys, and ferries to avoid. We don't mention it in the video, but we sailed right past Plum Island, which is shrouded in myth and mystery. It is a federal disease research center, off-limits to the public....we kept our distance accordingly. 2:59 Anchor Up We were trying to make the push from Jamestown to New York City's East River entrance, in roughly one day. We sailed approximately 133 miles in 24 hours, stopping for about 6 hours to rest off of Port Jefferson, NY. We anchored at night, using the chart and depth sounder only, off of Oil Field Point, and woke up in the morning a little surprised at how close to the beach we were. 5:40 Let it Rain After the nap, it was off sailing again towards the tall buildings on the horizon, NYC. We would stop one more night to ensure that we lined up our passage through Hell's Gate with the proper timing of the tides. Anchoring overnight in Manhasset Bay, we did a little boat work, had some fun, and got rained on. Curtis also saw a Seawind catamaran that he liked (we saw this at the boat show later, and this is what Tula's Endless Summer's new boat is going to be). 8:04 East River NYC It was bitter cold as we started into the East River early in the morning. We were fully suited up in foul weather gear, hats, and gloves. We mostly had to motor as the currents were strong and there was not a lot of wind. We approach NYC and pass under numerous bridges. 11:49 Time-Lapse We let the time-lapse run for much of this so you can get the full video. We again pass lots of interesting ships, one with a huge crane on a barge. 13:54 Hell's Gate It was a cold day in hell! The currents here can be treacherous, as there is a huge flow of water between the Atlantic ocean and Long Island Sound that is constricted into a narrow sluice. There is lots of boat and ship traffic in a narrow and curving channel. We reach a speed of 11 knots over ground motoring with the current. It is imperative that one times this pass correctly with the current in a slow sailboat. As a bonus to seeing all the cool ships, we passed by a Melges 24, a special boat to us as it is the type of boat we met aboard while racing together! 15:43 Statue of Liberty We exit the East River near Manhatten. It was really cool to see New York City from this angle on a boat. We sailed, ok motored because there was no wind, past the Statue of Liberty. This is a bucket list type of thing for people not from the city. Kate and I took our obligatory tourist selfies with the statue and skyline in the background. 16:10 Verrazano Bridge We finally set the sails as we exist the Hudson River, underneath the Veranzanno Bridge, and into the Atlantic Ocean. #sailing #sailingvlog #ocean #sailboat #sail #sailinglife About Us: So who are we? Well, we aren't Sailing La Vagabonde, Sailing Doodles, Sailing Uma, Gone With the Wynns, or Sailing Delos. We don't have a fancy catamaran, but we do have a pretty spiffy and fast monohull sailboat that likes to eat cruising catamarans like the Fountaine Pajots, Leopards, and Lagoons for lunch and leave them in the dust ;-) We are Kate and Curtis, a YouTube sailing couple, with our sailing dog Roxy, aboard SV Sweet Ruca. We used to be sailboat racers on the great lakes, and our goal is to cruise around the world via the capes (the wrong way or the hard way). We will see if this will happen or not, as the "new normal" has put quite a damper on our travels. For now, enjoy our videos and join us on our journey via our YouTube Channel. 'Till Next Time :-)

Support Production and get bonuses like early access to videos, private live chats, and bonus material by becoming a Patron! https://www.patreon.com/mjsailing After a month off the grid, we head into the town of Falmouth, not only so we can fill our cupboards with food again, but because we need to get Elements ready for her survey. It's the perfect motor in (no wind for sailing though, unfortunately) where we had sun, warmth, and even dolphins to greet us on our way! Once we had a slip secured though, it was time to get to work. Running ALL over town, we hunted through hardware stores, auto part stores, and chandleries to get all the little necessities to make Elements 100% ready for her survey. When the big day came we weren't allowed to be there for the tonnage portion (COVID restrictions at the marina), so the three of us hung out at the harbour until it was time for the onboard survey. Which, lol, I did no filming of because I assumed the guy would not want a camera following him around as he worked. Darn it. Hindsight is 20/20, and I should have just asked. ;) Well....I think you all know the outcome of how things went there! Much love from Cornwall! We have finally made landfall after sailing for 18 days to Mexico. We had to make a minor detour from our original plan to sail to Cabo San Lucas and pull off in a town just north of Acapulco called Zihuantanejo. On this episode of WE|Sail, we pull into harbour and drop the hook after a very long journey and enjoy the tastiest passage beer of all time. We also are very eager to step food on land and find ourselves a well deserved margarita. However, when we get to land we quickly find out that even after 18 days at sea that the Corona Virus hasn't gotten better, but in fact worse. We wander the streets looking for anything open, anyone to serve us a margarita and instead we are welcomed to quite and empty streets. No one around. Thanks for watching the adventures of WE! The day we had been waiting for since last October had finally arrived. Our new catamaran, also our new home, was waiting for us at Merrill Stevens Shipyard in Miami. Seeing our boat for the first time was the culmination of a nine month waiting period. We ordered our Seawind 1600 in October of 2019, and the production team shared videos of the build out process with us which we loved since we unfortunately couldn’t go to Vietnam. Not only our world, but the world as a whole changed drastically in those nine months. With the arrival of COVID-19 in March, we couldn’t help but wonder if we made the right decision. Everything was in motion so we kept moving forward. We sold our home of 16 years, and moved twice in two months, with the plan to move onboard the boat once she arrived. On the first day of commissioning everything was unwrapped and the team began setting up and testing the systems. Nance & Underwood Rigging and Sails arrived on the second day to assemble the mast and run the rigging. The next day a huge crane lifted the mast assembly and the team carefully stepped the mast. On the fourth day we sailed her up to Fort Lauderdale. It was surreal going through the canals of Fort Lauderdale on our new boat. It truly was a dream come true! We are super grateful to the Seawind Catamaran team and Steve from Finish Line for allowing us to observe and document the commissioning process. A huge thanks also to Nance + Underwood and the Merrill Stevens shipyard. It was an awesome experience and we’re thrilled to share it with you! We decided to head over to Kraalbaai in the West Coast National Park for a 4 day weekend. It was supposed to be a working weekend away but after getting there and relaxing for the first evening - work pretty much fell off the radar and we spent the weekend relaxing, going for a walks and had our friend Tony and his kids visit for the day. It was when Denver took Tony and the family back to the dock in terrible conditions that we almost lost the dingy engine. A huge wave hit him from behind and it lifted the motor almost right off of the transom. We thought it was fitted securely but mother nature showed us otherwise. Luckily, we have a chain securing the motor to the boat, more for security than anything else, and that is what saved it. Denver had to stop en-route back, and battling the +/-30 knot wind gusts and hectic sea state, refit the motor in place before carrying on back to Saoirse. To say he was a little shaken when he got back is an understatement. Another job to add to the list and something we need to get sorted out so that it never happens again. Denver also braved the cold water again to give Saoirse a bit of a bottom clean. We have developed a nasty black scum around the waterline in the time that we have been at Saldanha - probably something to do with the local fish factory waste. Our antifoul is also below the waterline as we have mentioned in earlier videos, so we are getting growth between that and the waterline. 1000's of tiny barnacles are taking hold, so Denver cleared as much of that as possible. After an hour and a half in the cold water, fighting the strong current we could see a huge improvement and Denver had got a really good workout! The rest of our time there was spent walking and exploring by dinghy - we had beautiful sunrises and sunsets and really got a feel for what our cruising life might be like one day - in between doing unending boat work that is!! Unfortunately, we have had endless problems with what seems to be "possessed camera equipment" - for some odd reason we have processor issues with both our Canon and Nikon cameras and the Go Pro has taken on a life of its own. So in between all the cursing at cameras, the only usable footage was caught on my cellphone which inevitably means a lot of background wind noise. Apologies for that. Hopefully we can get our cameras sorted soon.
The Vendée Globe is a race exclusively reserved for the IMOCA, a 60-foot monohull machine built for racing. The open rule gives the naval architects great freedom of design when imagining the next generation of boats. A class known for technological experimentation, the IMOCA has seen radical innovations such as foils appear in recent years. These appendages, placed on either side of the hull, provide power, reduce drag, and propel the IMOCA to fly above the surface at speeds that were once inconceivable. In two decades, the modern IMOCA has shaved close to 40 days off a circumnavigation. The 2020 race start is on the horizon, and many of us onshore wonder- how fast will these boats fly? In Episode 2 of our Vendée Globe 2020 video series, French sailor and storyteller Loïck Peyron explores the phenomenal high-tech advances of the IMOCA. Loïck brings us beyond visual appearances and dives deep into the construction and materials, most notably carbon, used in the boats. Today, the IMOCA is lighter, faster, and more reliable. The manufacturing methods of these boats are closer to those of airplanes than to sailboats. "We use the same terms, the same mathematical formulas and the same prediction and simulation tools as those used in aircraft," stresses Loïck Peyron. Generally speaking, "the speeds of the boats have been multiplied by four in forty years." Learn more at www.northsails.com/sailing
