++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ It has become autumn and we still enjoy the warm and sunny weather and make a few excursions with the rental car or on foot. After we have cast off in Palairos, it continues relaxed and we have a few nice and quiet nights anchoring before the next strong wind should come... This week our daughter came to visit and we sat down and recorded a video about what it is like living on a boat, when you are not a sailor nor experienced in all things boating. Devido a temperatura diferente, PH, intensidade e velocidade.

Everything was going just fine until I discovered what the attractions were really about at Trees Of Mystery... heights. There were rope bridges, gondolas, and all manner of freaky-high-up-things - none of which Tambi cared to mention to me before hand. Honestly, her withholding of pertinent information was probably best in this case. She gets me. Afterwards, we drive through a living redwood tree at a roadside stop called the Tour Thru Tree. All things considered - it was a very good day. 😊 ~ Ben, Tambi, & Molly | "SAILBOATSTORY" [ SUPPORT THE CHANNEL ] https://patreon.com/sailboatstory | Join the crew and help keep the cameras rolling! https://paypal.me/sailboatstory | Make a donation and help upgrade our camera gear! In the episode (S2-E34 )of The Art of Boat Building we see how to turn over a boat hull by yourself. Small boats are built on a mold upside down. Once the hull is finished the boat is flipped so that the topside can be completed. Once flipped over the boat must have a place to firmly rest. The best solution is a boat cradle. Building a boat cradle is covered in this episode. To Flip a Boat Hull by yourself will require lifting equipment. “If you’re going to make it, make it beautiful.” -Bob Emser- Subscribe for more Boat Building from The Art of Boat Building: https://www.youtube.com/user/bobemser/featured?sub_confirmation=1 Share this video with a friend: https://youtu.be/sw9BtODnCrU How to support The Art of Boat Building. This was my first time sailing completely alone, overnight, across open sea—94 nautical miles from Chania to Santorini, Greece. I departed after dark to ensure a daylight arrival, navigating shifting winds, rough swells, and long stretches of stillness. What started as a sailing mission became a personal rite of passage. In this video: I prepare and depart from Chania, Crete I sail solo overnight across the Aegean Sea I reflect on solitude, spiritual stillness, and modern isolation I anchor inside the caldera of a volcano (Santorini) I explore what it means to be truly alone at sea This was the longest single-handed sail I’ve ever done—and a night I won’t forget. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to be alone on a boat in the middle of the ocean at night, I tried to capture that feeling as honestly as I could. Thank you very much, you guys are amazing supporting us with your likes and comments, we really feel that we have a new family out there. Much love Carla & Simon A little bit about us... We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach in Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony with our 4 kids, just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it. Much love Carla and Simon
Finally, after planning, preparing and studying for four months, Eileen and I are on our way to St. Lucia to undergo two weeks of quarantine and then close on our 2015 Leopard 44 catamaran which we are buying from Moorings Sunsail brokerage and are naming “Blown Away”! Come along with us as we lay out a bird’s eye view of what the next crucial two months looks like and stay tuned for future videos where we drill down deeper into each stage and progression of journey with all of the juicy details that will both entertain and inform. Our journey will begin as we take a one-way flight from Miami to St. Lucia and stay at the Bay Island Inn for quarantine and then after two weeks we close on our boat where Regis Marine Electric will install a Spectra Newport 400 water maker, radar, new Raymarine Axiom 12 chart plotter and Relion 900 amps lithium batteries that is just a start to the upgrades which will be completed a few weeks later in Sint Maarten. Next, we will set sail for two weeks with Captain Ben who will teach us the ropes of sailing and then sign off with our insurance company that we are competent to sail our boat on our own. After that, we sail to Sint Maarten which is a special Caribbean oasis which charges no import duty making it the ideal place to pick up our items shipped from Miami and to have the additional upgrades of Victron components, solar panels and clothes washing machine added by Tradewinds Marine Electric will install a custom stainless solar arch, downwind sail rigging. Once all of this is added Blown Away will be entirely off grid relying on renewable energy alone. We are Eileen and Brown Councill. Welcome to our channel and a glimpse into our life adventure! 2020 was a year of uncertainty and change (for all of us, right?), but we overcame the challenges and decided it was time to chase our dream, to sail around the world! Did I mention that we had very NO sailing experience? Before leaving Qingdao, China, our home of 4 years, we sold almost all of our earthly possessions and started our international search to find the right sailboat that we would call "home." After 5 months of unanticipated twists and turns, we found what we were looking for, a used Leopard 44' Catamaran located in St. Lucia. So, here begins our journey, filled with unmatched excitement and honestly, a bit of trepidation as well. We have much to learn as we travel the world on our floating home and we intend to document that journey and share it with you. We are so glad you have decided to join us, and we hope that you will find our story so compelling that it will inspire you to chase your dreams too! As a viewer, we consider you to be part of our family and look forward to getting to know you. Don't hesitate to comment on our videos and ask questions. We will do our best to answer every correspondence! All we ask is that you have patience with us as we work really hard to improve our camera/video techniques and ability to tell a story. Original Documentary film: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lalAhcOdTaQ&t=1s Part 2 video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8b0L87E5dDY 45 days Solo camping in the Arctic Wilderness with Sailing Catamaran. Solo sailing adventure expedition from Nordkapp (Norway Arctic). Sailing from Nordkapp (Norway) to Stockholm (Sweden) via Torne river on 3,9 m inflatable catamaran. 45 days and 2500 km. Sailing Norway, Sweden and Finland. I started this sailing adventure expedition from Honningsvag near Nordkapp. I sailed away to south untill Lofoten islands where I went to Torne river that brought me to Bothnia bay from where I sailed to Stockholm. It was very cold but every sailing day was nice in some way. Sailing catamaran was not the best for heavy or extreme weather. When I was sailing away from coast I had to be very careful as I was sailing on the ocean. I was sailing fast as winds were strong. I filmed this sailing video with gopro hero2. I used Sandiline drysuit and it kept me dry and warm. I had many thermal clothes under it.
