Nobody has yet dared to build in this area off the coast, the challenge is so difficult and uncertain - we have overcome it to offer you a timeless stay, which you will not soon forget. At the bottom of the valley facing the beach, our reception awaits you to organize the climb to the lodge with our pick-ups specially dedicated for this 3 km journey which lasts approximately 15 minutes, an average of 7.5% drop, you will be carried away in another world, an authentic and secular Bali, the landscapes will take your breath away as you climb, the road is a bit bumpy, our pick up will go up at a senator's rate, but the reward is soon there - you will not be disappointed ! finally the lodge is in front of you, it is on a magnificent plot of 2 hectares at 400 m altitude on the heights of Amed, in the Léan valley where time seems to have stood still. It sits on the foothills of this valley surrounded by green hills, close to the Seraya volcano which dominates the region and which shelters the famous temple Pura Lempuyang from the top of its 1600 steps. In the background, the village of Amed and the turquoise waters of the Lombok Strait. Electric vehicles with driver allow you to circulate in the 20,000m2 and the 70m of uneven between the top and the bottom of the property. If you want to spend time by the sea, our pick-up shuttle will drop you off there free of charge and on demand during the day. On the beach we have a partnership with a local bar which will offer you deckchairs, towels and snorkeling equipment if you wish (extra).
Hi again everyone. The smell was seriously ungodly. The holding tank was full to the brim with dirty water and sludge which was 15 years old at least. But we managed to clean the bilge and holding tank, sort of, and finally got the mainsail down which is in absolutely amazing condition, literally only the sacrificial UV corner had deteriorated, the rest of the sail is practically like new. Along with that we start making a plan of action and prioritising how we're going to tackle the early stages of this refit and refurb. We are Andy, Melissa and Jack, a sailing family based in North Wales, and for the past couple of years we have been looking for a bluewater sailing yacht to take us around the world. Well we've finally found her. Our new sailing yacht is a John Teal designed 38ft Steel Pilothouse Cutter. She has been standing ashore for at least 15 years and now we're embarking on the huge challenge of refitting her and doing her up ready to go sailing around the world. Vlog #26 We sail out of La Paz with our next destination being Banderas Bay. We check out a few anchorages on our way down to los frailes. We arrived there late in the day and went to bed. When we woke up it was Travs birthday and we were ready to set sail. It would take us about three days to go straight across to Banderas Bay. Along the way we once again saw a bunch of whales and dolphins and caugh another mahi! Delicious! We were so excited to finally arrive into the heat! La Paz had been quite chilly and the first mate was over it! Check yaaaa next time when we check out the town and go swimming. -------------------------------- Instagram- @Sailingdecorum --------------------------------- --------------------------------- *WHO ARE WE?* •We are a Canadian couple, Travis and Jessica. After a harrowing sail we settle into Tarrafal de Sao Nicolau. We clean up our boats do a little sightseeing of the town and go off on an excursion. Destination is Carbeirinho, stunning rock formations battered by the surf. There we venture into a secluded little cove dressed in black sand. It's a littlle tricky because we have to time the the swell to get into the cove. On the way back, my timing was off. A big wave crashed... and what happens next could spell the end of my journey. It may all end right here. #brokenhip #accident #neardeath Some say it’s The Best Sailing Channel on YouTube! Agree or disagree, make your voice heard. Subscribe, like, dislike, or comment. After staying a week in Carolina Beach, NC to wait out some weather, we needed to make up some miles and was time for another big sail! Unfortunately Steph got very sea sick and Travis was left to man JibSea all by his lonesome for 31 hours straight, with no sleep - poor guy! We finally made it to Charleston, South Carolina and our stay in the city was definitely worth the rough seas that brought us there. A big thank you to #MarineKinetix who provided amazing technical support with our wind generator and also going above and beyond by hand-delivering parts within 24 hours! We face a hard decision after we worked so hard to get to paradise. Do we turn around and sail back to the USA? We find there are some surprises in store for us. Track us on our website! http://www.sweetruca.com Join our crew on Patreon! http://www.patreon.com/ruca Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram! @rucasailing http://www.facebook.com/rucasailing http://www.instagram.com/rucasailing 0:00 Intro 0:36 Bahamas Sailing We raise our anchor at the deserted island in North Eleuthera Bahamas and head west. We sail through the crystal clear but shallow water of the Bahama Banks to Chub Cay, Whale Key, Bimini, and then on to Miami. 3:49 Gulf Stream Crossing We crossed the gulf stream with a northeast wind, perfect for some downwind spinnaker sailing on the way to Miami and Biscayne Bay. We hit 10.9 knots of boat speed during some great and fun sailing conditions. 7:00 Stiltsville We entered Biscayne National Park through the Stiltsville Cut. It was pretty cool to sail between the old houses and buildings on stilts, which have been long since abandoned. This is a tricky entrance and we must be careful as we draw over six feet. 7:25 Coconut Grove Sailing Club We got the last open mooring ball at CGSG, which thankfully was the only one that would fit our 46 foot sailboat. We were very thankful for the clubs hospitality. What an amazing place with excellent staff and friendly members. It helped that they were a racing club and we had visited there before while racing Melges 24's. 7:41 Sail Loft One of the main reasons for coming to Miami was to get our staysail fixed up. When it was originally re-cut down from a #4 jib in Annapolis the sail loft there made a mistake and made the sail longer than the hoist. So we were able to have the sail re-recut and fixed in under a week. We were super thankful to get this done. 8:39 Melges 20 and Bacardi Winter Series in Miami It just so happened that the Melges 20 Winter Series and Bacardi Miami Winter Series was going on. Was this planned? Well, it certainly was a good enough reason to sail back to the USA and see all of our racing friends. On top of that, the race committee boat broke down, so we volunteered to be the RC boat for the day. It was lots of fun, but there were a few close calls. Luckily no boats were harmed in the filming of this video and SV Sweet Ruca came away without a scratch in her Awlgrip! 12:52 Coconut Grove We ended our time in Miami with a stroll through Coconut Grove. It is a lovely little suburb on the south side. We took advantage of this time to get our last meals out in the USA for what we be a long time. We were also invited to go to the CGSC staff Christmas party, so we celebrated the holiday in style with our new friends before we sail away again to the Bahamas. #sailing #boatlife #bahamas #sail #sea #boat #yacht #sailboat #yachting #travel #ocean #sailor About Us: So who are we? Well, we aren't Sailing La Vagabonde, Expedition Evans, Sailing Doodles, Sailing Uma, Project Atticus, MJ Sailing, Gone With the Wynns, or SV Delos. We aren't Vendee Globe Race sailors, although sometimes Curtis wishes he was one. We don't have a fancy catamaran, but we do have a pretty and fast monohull sailboat. Cruising catamarans like the Fountaine Pajot's, Leopards, and Lagoons can't keep up, but we still like them ;-) We are Kate and Curtis, a YouTube sailing couple, with our sailing rescue dog Roxy, aboard SV Sweet Ruca, a J-Boats J/46 monohull. We used to be sailboat racers on the great lakes (we still are...kind of), and our goal is to cruise around the world via the capes (the wrong way or the hard way). We will see if this will happen or not, as the "new normal" has put quite a damper on our travels. For now, we are holed up in the Windward Islands of the Caribbean making videos and scuba diving. We hope you enjoy our videos and join us on our journey via our YouTube Channel. 'Till Next Time :-)

It's time to step foot in the U.S. for the first time in 2.5 years. And that also means moving in with my parents. After having sailed Elements from Florida, through the Caribbean, up to the Azores, and then the Arctic Circle of Norway down to the UK...we left her behind in England, and now needed to take the next steps in our lives. Flying out from our friend's home in Twickenham, we head to London Heathrow to begin the long journey home...with our cat! She'll be flying in cabin with us for this 24 hours of travel, so we're very nervous on how it all could turn out. Much love from Phoenix! Jessica, Matt & Georgie Thank you SO MUCH to our Patrons. We put sailing on the back burner for now. We say goodbye to our boat and head back to Colorado for the summer. There are a few reasons for this- we need to work a little to make some extra money to help continue sailing, as well as spending some quality time with friends and family before setting sail across the Pacific Ocean this coming spring! NO it wasn't due to you know the pandemic if that's what you think. We had plans of coming back to Colorado before this all went down and honestly for us the timing was perfect. More so, nothing beats a summer spent in Colorado. We work hard and play harder as we keep the adventure spirit alive, white water rafting, play in Lake Powell, camp in the Rocky Mountains and enjoy the fresh mountain cool air.
