Nos derniers moments à Stone Town, c’est l’occasion d’entrer dans la vieille ville, et de partir à la découverte de ses rues remplies d’histoire et de souvenirs. Au hasard de nos balades, on verra un hôtel qui ne paye pas de mine de l’extérieur, mais quelle beauté intérieur, avec son jardin luxuriant. Un passage obligé au marché aux épices, ainsi que l’achat de différents tissus pour le renouvellement de la garde-robe de Javerne. Puis nous partirons effectuer les démarches administratives nous permettant de quitter l’arrondissement de Zanzibar, en direction de Tanga. Un guide nous promène de bureaux en bureaux, à la recherche du tampon miracle. Le tout effectué en moins de 1h30. Et toujours avec le sourire et la gentillesse propre à ce pays d’Afrique. I got fed up with this rat race like routine city life and I got hooked on the idea of sailing and living on a boat full time. But with 0 (zero) expirience that would be difficult to achieve... I took a Transport Canada course and received my first boat license... I watched tons of boat related youtube videos and got myself registered with dozen sailing forums and groups on a facebook... In May 2020 I came across a facebook post. Sergey was looking for a crew to bring his boat to the Caribbean. I travelled 1300 km from Montreal to Halifax to join him on his boat. The trip was cancelled two months later for legitimate reasons. Since I made my way to Nova Scotia I decided to discover this beatiful province before going back to Montreal I returned to Montreal February 2021... I have not given up on my dream of sailing. Die nächsten 2 1/2 Jahre werden wir nutzen um den Pazifik zu durchqueren, den indonesischen Raum zu erkunden und letztendlich nach der Umrundung des Kap der guten Hoffnungen wieder Fuß auf europäisches Land zu setzen. The charm of the Japanese Coast, on and off land continues to delight. This three-day voyage starts with my final preparations before departure. I am touched and inspired by the people I meet along the way. Shibafuji san, took me to his boatyard where he not only showed me the 200-year-old Japanese Sailboat he is restoring but also gave me wood for my fender boards. These boards are helpful when docking against hard walls in some fishing points. He also helped me buy a ladder for those same harbors. I am grateful to Mr. Okumoto, a friend of Mr. Shibafuji, who invited me to moor next to his boat at one of my stops along the way. My voyage ended rounding the cape and just two miles from the Harbor entrance of Tosa Shimizu, I was stopped at sea by the Japanese Coast Guard who wanted to inspect my papers. . . . again! And I was inspired by a fellow solo sailor who has a Sail-Run-Sail project. Like me have started sailing life. late ( age 60) but he has continued his lifelong passion of being a marathon distance runner. He has a project to sail and run the 88 temple pilgrimage circuit. Hey! Welcome back. In this video, we're in the marina in Almerimar (filmed in November - we've got some delay on the videos but slowly but surely catching up to real time). We're happy to be back in the water after having hauled out. We got our new interior cushions made, we buy some foldable bikes, and make progress on some other boat jobs (like getting our rigging checked, replacing our forestay, getting a new reef in the main). We go for another beautiful hike inland (close to the Sierra Nevada) and we go and visit one of the hundreds of vegetable greenhouses in the area. It's so interesting to see how the vegetable industry works and get a glimpse into this universe - which is in fact where most of Europe's vegetables come from. We then get ready to leave Almerimar and aren't sure what our plan is next. We finally decide to head further west towards Gibraltar area before making a decision. We have a sweet light wind sail over there, with the spinnaker up and a visit from dolphins it's pretty ideal. We finally arrive in La Duquesa marina, still not sure whether to continue West and cross the Atlantic or hang back a year or so and winter in Spain... Thanks for watching! Towing our boat Neringa 5000km from Macedon in Victoria to Derby in Western Australia. With the boat just over 3 tonnes on the trailer it was a long hard tow with a few tyre issues along the way. We entered SA as soon as borders opened which closed again 4 days later. Entering the NT we thought we were home free only to find out Covid has broken out there too. The only option left to us then was to drive to the WA border as hard and fast as the rig allowed to then enter 14 days quarantine in Derby. This option allowed just enough time to sail our 14 day shortened trip to Darwin. Fingers crossed no more surprises delay us further. An epic and somewhat stressful tow but we arrived safely after many beautiful camp spots along the way. With luck the next of the trip videos will be posted late September when we reach Darwin.
