Welcome back. Zach and I were spending the weekend in Bristol when we got an unexpected phone call inviting us to sail from Swansea to Cardiff the following day- an opportunity we couldn't pass up! Having both not had a tonne of experience sailing bigger yachts, it was a great day of learning and having fun- an especially memorable moment being when Ian (who owns said boat) went for a nap...mid Bristol Channel...and left all sailing responsibilities up to me and Zach! We stepped up though and had the time of our lives! Later on in the video we get back on land and head to the end of the Gower to the Rhossili Sunflower fields. We have been meaning to go there for a while and knowing the sunflowers wouldn't be around for much longer, we decided that today was the day. The sun was shining and ohhh what a beautiful place. This week we sail to another anchorage in the atoll Raroia, we visit a pearl farm and learn all about the black gold in the ocean. As we pick up anchor we share with you our trusty hand signals, we try to avoid yelling at etch other at all times ;) I take you down to the galley and share one of my smoothie recipes with you, Kieran is one hungry boy! Sailing inside the atoll is amazing, only the occasional bombie to look out for. Happy captain! The pearl farm is empty when we arrive, not including all the furry friends I found. The workers arrive when we are about to leave and tell us to come back the next morning as they will harvest new clams. Unfortunately, due to covid the pearls are not harvested, but we get to learn about the pearls and Kieran gets a taste of the scollop inside. Yum? Join our crew! After months of sadness over loosing our Salty Sea dog Boza, it was a pleasure to have a Gorgeous little puppy dog on board! Even if it was only for one night. #boatbuilding #boatyard #boatwork We get so much work completed this week. We build the wall between the saloon and the front cabin and even get the oak veneer ply on to the frame. What a beautiful wall we have there! Carla works hard on the Pilot House roof as the rain spoil our plans and all had to be done again. But finally she gets on with the first coat of paint in cream to match the boat. Simon cuts a large hole on the boat to fit the hatch in the front cabin and turned out to be an horrible job. We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it.

Technically we did RAN AGROUND on our LAGOON46. On today's video we had a very tense night at a RIA in AVEIROS Portugal. No começo de Julho saímos de Paraty para finalmente subir a costa com nosso próprio barco. Mas uma rede com cabos brutalmente grossos, numa madrugada escura e um mar com muitas ondas, nos fez perder tudo em poucos minutos. Alguns podem perguntar: "E o seguro do barco?". Nós temos, mas é uma boa burocracia e eles só reembolsam o valor do barco. E perdemos muito mais que o barco, PERDEMOS NOSSA CASA!! O que inclui todos nossos pertences, TUDO, além de equipamentos, alimentos (o barco estava carregado para travessia etc). O valor da sua doação é muito bem vindo para que possamos pagar os gastos do resgate (ou da tentativa). Também precisamos de apoio para nossos gastos extras com moradia, com os utensílios, roupas e muitos outros itens não cobertos por nenhum seguro. Somos aposentados e praticamente quase tudo que tínhamos era o barco e o que estava dentro dele, e agora, no fundo do mar. O barco era nossa casa, e nossa (principal) fonte de renda. Oltre agli argomenti principali che spiegano come sono realizzate le carte nautiche, la simbologia utilizzata, elencata nella pubblicazione 1111 dell'Istituto Idrografico della Marina Militare, i rapporti utilizzati per la rappresentazione in scala della superficie terrestre, abbiamo estratto un elenco di tutti i simboli che l'allievo dovrà essere in grado di riconoscere per superare sia l'esame della patente nautica entro le 12 miglia che l'esame della patente nautica senza limiti dalla costa. NauticaIn4Settimane è una scuola nautica autorizzata dalla provincia di Roma. While in a marina, it's never getting boring. There is always work and fun. Writing articles and books on the one side, on the other some boat jobs are waiting. Like replacing some parts of the wire of the railing to stainless steel to add some more solar panels for the coming watermaker. Sometimes we invite friends for a day trip or meet other sailors in one of the beautiful anchorages. Time for the SUP world games for untalented sailors. Or we just enjoy live music in the marina, especially the Kas Jazz Festival.

Jetzt ist es soweit: Lockdown in der Karibik. Nichts geht mehr und alle Grenzen sind geschlossen. In Martinique ist unsere Segelreise zu Ende und wir kommen mit unserem Segelboot nicht mehr weiter. Mit guten Freunden, von 5 anderen Booten, segeln wir nach Anse d’Arlet, einer kleinen Bucht im Süden von Martinique, um den Lockdown in Gesellschaft auszusitzen. Wir reparieren unser GPS und reinigen das Unterwasserschiff von Insieme. Nachdem zumindest ein paar Lockerungen in Kraft treten, nutzen wir die Möglichkeit unsere Beine, bei einer kleinen Wanderung an der Küste, zu vertreten. Dabei merken wir erst wie komisch es sich anfühlt, so lange auf einem Segelboot eingesperrt zu sein! Wir wünschen euch viel Spaß bei unserem Abenteuer Karibik. We visit Yosemite National Park when wildfires cause the National Forests in California to be closed. Tent camping at Upper Pines campground. Hike to Vernal Fall, Happy Isles and Olmsted Point. The sales preparement continues and got a call from the buyers and they tell me they has sold their old boat so they have all the money to buy my Bavaria 32. Almost a unreal feeling, but again necessary if I want to upgrade my boat to a bigger one. Another question is whether the new boat can stand on my old boatstand or I need to get a new one.
