Highlights of what happened globally in the sport of sailing in the last 7 days. This is the Sailing World on Water, December 17, 2021. Here are the highlights in the sport of Sailing, filmed in the last seven days. The big news last week is the official entry into the 37th Americas' Cup, by Swiss multi Billionaire, Ernesto Berteralli, and his all new, Alinghi, Red Bull Racing Team. Announcing this all-Swiss team, there were a few recognisable faces at the club. They included his long time friend, Brad Butterworth, and Red Bull foiling sailor, Hans-Peter Steinacher. There was little detail at this stage, but Christian Horner, Principal of Red Bull Racing, was beamed in from the UK suffering, as his team had just won the 2021, F1 World Championships. This is a formidable announcement as there have been names like, Berling, Tuke, Spithill, Slingsby, mentioned in passing. Wherever Ernesto goes, he always creates great interest and the AC, 37, is no different. Meanwhile, INEOS, Britannia, have lifted the lid on their design team, and announced that Martin Fischer, ex Luna Rossa, is their Chief Designer. In the last Vendee Globe, British solo racer, Pip Hare, distinguished herself and her American sponsor Medallia, has backed her by buying Bureau Vallée 2, which was sailed by French skipper Louis Burton into 3rd in the last Vondée Globe. Here she is in full "refit" mode as the start is only two years away. In Oman the Oman 2021, Youth Sailing World Championships is being held. A total of 433 sailors from 56 nations are entered in 11 youth events including the Male and Female divisions of the 29er Skiff, the four twenty, Two Person Dinghy, IL-CA 6, One Person Dinghy, along with the Mixed Two Person Multihull, the Nacra 15. The Superstars were in town for this year's Super Cup. There were Olympic gold medallists, Sail GP, and Americas Cup Champions, competing last Friday afternoon. The Superstars of the 18's and sailing, included, Nathan Wilmot, Nathan Outteridge, Ian Jenson, Adam Beashel, Luke Parkinson, David Witt, Dan Phillips, John Winning, Sean Langman, Trevor Barnabus, Hugh Stoddart, Euan McNicol, and Andrew Divola, who were at the club ready for their annual, three race, Supercup series, on Sydney Harbour.

We maken prachtige zeiltochten langs de Bretonse kust, vaak onder gennaker. Maar langzaam maar zeker komt het moment dichterbij dat Felia en Jord weer naar huis moeten. In La Rochelle gaan ze van boord en blijf ik voorlopig alleen achter. Mooi tijd om even wat video's in elkaar te draaien. Omdat een grote watersportbeurs in de haven wordt georganiseerd kan ik daar niet blijven. Alleen ga ik tanken en vaar naar het Bassin des Chalutiers in La Rochelle. Ik vaar midden in een parade van kleine zeilbootjes, wat helemaal niet de bedoeling is. Maar ik heb een afspraak. De brug naar het bassin gaat precies om 16.45uur voor mij open. Jarenlang heb ik ervan gedroomd om zeilend te gaan waar de wind me brengt. In 2020 was het dan eindelijk zover en heb ik samen met Felia een prachtige reis gemaakt naar Scandinavië en de Baltische staten. Onze Eva, een Atlantic 43 uit 2007, is een aluminium zeiljacht met hefkiel en gebouwd en uitgerust voor reizen naar plaatsen die net achter de horizon liggen. Vanaf 2021 vaar ik met wisselende bemanning zuidwaarts. Ik vind het leuk om onze avonturen met jullie te delen. It is filled with Grateful dead music, Jewish sea shanties and spirit songs. About me, I'm a pirate (of the heart) without a boat, and my sweet home in the hills of Jerusalem got swallowed up last summer in a forest fire. After years of sailing on other peoples boats or rentals, I'm making this long time dream come true and turning the hardship of a destroyed home into a blessing. About the home that burned down: For the last ten years, I've been blessed to live most of the year on a magical, beautiful and abundant hillside in the forest 20 minutes outside of Jerusalem. My friends call the land that I've been living on "heaven." The owners of the land have an enchanted wooden home on the land, and operate a woodshop on the land making biblical harps. My heart, sweat, many memories and dreams are tied to this land. I built many of the features myself, planted many fruit trees and a garden, and it all turned into ash from a forest fire. The harp shop also burned down completely. There is a campaign to help rebuild the harp shop. Nobody humans were hurt or burned on the property, and I'm relearning the lesson about what is and isn't important in life. About the boat: Greece is a great place to get a boat, practice sailing around the islands, and sail to Israel. I'll be looking to get a 39 foot monohull that is tall enough for me to stand in, safe and comfortable enough to live in, and has room for friends. If it has a crows-nest on the top, that would be bonus.

This video takes a look at how to make your way into Northney Marina on Hayling Island, Hampshire. Enter Chichester Harbour on the top half of the flood. Continue north up Emsworth Channel for 3 miles to Emsworth south cardinal light beacon. Here fork 45° to port up Sweare Deep. After 8 cables turn sharply port around the Northney red beacon. Enter the marina via a short channel dredged 0.5m; access H24. It is essential to call on VHF Ch 80 or by mobile for a vacant berth.
