In this episode, we sail from San Pedro, CA to Newport Beach, CA. Conditions are light, but we do manage to enjoy a pleasant sail for part of the journey. The anchorage in NBP is packed. The party scene dies down around 2030 for a peaceful night on the hook.

San Jose in the Las Perlas is an incredible place teeming with wildlife above and below the water. We ended up here after sailing from Benao despite our intended destination being Vista Mar Marina further north. As it turned out, this is a great place to explore. With very few people around, it is incredibly quiet. The beaches are amazing. You will see white sand streaked with black volcanic sand running through the white sand like veins. We anchored the dinghy sometimes and swam ashore only to see crocodiles on the beach at our next anchorage. I think we were lucky. We also saw Macaws flying overhead a few times. What a place. With the success of my original how to apply gelcoat video, I still get asked "How do you roll and tip gelcoat" You asked for it so here it is! In the original video I showed you how to apply gelcoat with a roller and brush to cure some polyester resin. This video focuses on a finish gelcoat application that you can use to get your boat looking brand new. In the video I cover rolling and tipping. I show you how to roll gelcoat onto your sub straight and to tip it smooth. Just like in the how to spray gelcoat video you need to get some thickness before you can get that mirror finish. Applying one or two layers of Gelcoat Without Wax, and then finishing with a layer of gelcoat with wax, you will be able to sand and buff to a mirror finish. *Remember* to mix small batches and overlap as you proceed. Use the minimal MEKP you can so you have a longer working time!! You can always come back the next day and apply more It takes time to get this right so keep trying.
