Two main regattas in the last week, one in the Northern Hemisphere, the 44 Cup and the other in the Southern, The Australian Nationals for 18 Foot Skiffs. This is the lead in race to their Championships, The J J Giltinans. We started this show with action onboard a 44 Cup contender. Sadly no water passed beneath the keels of the ten-strong 44Cup fleet on the opening day of their first regatta of the 2022 season off Porto Calero, Lanzarote as they were held ashore due to no wind.

Subscribe, Like Follow Us for the best in Sailin. .The Andoo team of Seve Jarvin, Matt Stenta and Sam Newton became a deserved winner of the 2021-22 100th Australian 18 Footer Championship which concluded on Sydney Harbour today. With three wins, a second and two thirds from the seven races, Andoo finished the championship with a total of 14 points, followed by Smeg (Michael Coxon, Ricky Bridge, Zac Barnabas) on 22 points and Noakesailing (Sean Langman, Ed Powys, Josh Porebski) on 33 points. Defending champion Tech2 (Jack Macartney) finished in fourth place on 37 points, followed by Finport Finance (Keagan York) on 41 points and Lazarus Capital Partners (Marcus Ashley-Jones) on 43 points. Today's racing was split into two distinctive races with the first (Race 6) sailed in a patchy NE breeze and the latter, Race 7, in a much steadier breeze. The defending champion Tech2 team (Jack Macartney, Charlie Wyatt, Lewis Brake) took out Race 6 with an outstanding performance which resulted in a 2m9s victory over The Oak Double Bay-4 Pines (Aron Everett, John Cooley, Charlie Gundy) with Smeg a further 14s back in third place. In a tight finish Shaw and Partners Financial Services (Steve Thomas) came home in fourth place, ahead of Andoo and Ilve (Jono Whitty). Macartney and his team grabbed the lead mid-way up the first beat when they elected to go to the RHS of the course north of Rose Bay and picked up a favourable breeze which enabled Tech2 to lead narrowly from from Shaw & Partners, Rag & Famish Hotel (Harry Price) and Yandoo (John Winning). Tech2's downwind speed and the team's decision to go back to the same side of the course which gave it the lead was a winner and Tech2 totally dominated the rest of the race to score an easy victory. The breeze was more settled and definitely a little fresher as the final race got away with Andoo and Tech2 immediately going into a match race style contest in a pre-start jostle, then up the first windward leg. Jarvin and his team then elected to go to the northern shore (LHS of the course) as they did in the previous race while Macartney and his team repeated their earlier race decision and went to the right. This time, the LHS was far more successful and Ilve led at the top mark from Balmain Slake (Henry Larkings), Noakesailing, Andoo, Finport Finance and Fisher & Paykel (Jordan Girdis). Ilve and Balmain Slake continued to lead the fleet back down the harbour to the bottom mark north of Clark Island before a gear failure to Ilve saw the team forced to retire, leaving Balmain Slake a narrow leader over Noakesailing, Andoo, Finport Finance, Smeg and Fisher & Paykel. A problem for the Balmain Slake team on the spinnaker drop cost it the lead and a good battle developed between Noakesailing and Finport Finance over the entire final lap of the course. With only 200 metres left on the course it appeared that the Sean Langman-led Noakesailing would be the winner before a wonderful finishing burst by Finport Finance, gave Keagan York and his team its best result of the season when they crossed just 1s ahead of Noakesailing. Andoo finished another 11s back in third place, which was enough to give the team its championship victory. In yet another tight finish, Smeg finished fourth ahead of Lazarus Capital Partners and Balmain Slake

The Irish Sailing Passport is an online skills tracking, certification and logbook system which uses the Checklick platform. Passport allows new skills to be tracked as you progress through your course so you can check in at any stage to see what you’ve achieved and the other skills you’ll cover. Your Irish Sailing Passport will also allow you to move easily between Irish Sailing Training Centres when doing courses if you sail in different locations. Any certificates you have achieved are available and saved on your profile meaning no more worries about replacing lost certificates. Your Passport also allows you to log additional activities to help you track your experience as you develop your skills.

After a brief moment of panic where we nearly hit a shoal in the night, the high mountains, clifftop homes and the large, scenic bay began to unfold in front of us. Als we van Aveiro zuidwaarts varen bereikt ons het bericht dat Patrick zijn schoonvader is overleden. We verleggen koers naar Oeiras bij Lissabon en van daar zal hij de volgende dag naar Nederland vertrekken. Simone en ik doen wat klussen en ruimen op, want ook ik zal Eva even achterlaten. We mogen een dagje zeilen met de lokale zeilclub. We zeilen in een meermansboot en in Laser. Super is dat! Het is een hartstikke leuke club, daar in Oeiras. Met Simone bezoek ik Lissabon en we wagen ons leven op elektrische stepjes. De nachtelijke tramrit met lijn 28 is een aanrader! Jarenlang heb ik ervan gedroomd om zeilend te gaan waar de wind me brengt. In 2020 was het dan eindelijk zover en heb ik samen met Felia een prachtige reis gemaakt naar Scandinavië en de Baltische staten. Onze Eva, een Atlantic 43 uit 2007, is een aluminium zeiljacht met hefkiel en gebouwd en uitgerust voor reizen naar plaatsen die net achter de horizon liggen. Vanaf 2021 vaar ik met wisselende bemanning zuidwaarts. Ik vind het leuk om onze avonturen met jullie te delen. Travel by sailboat is the bet way to explore wild and unhabited islands. We visit Egg Island in Eleuthera by dinghy through the mangroves and by walking its shoreline. Along with fellow sailors we even make it to the Arimoroa Wreck also called the Egg Island wreck and dive this gigantic 260 foot ship. Unfortunately the rolly anchorage forces us to head over to Meeks Patch to get better rest. Filmed May 2021. Two days after we returned from Catalina Island, we packed our bags and kissed our boat projects goodbye as we flew east to attend the 2021 Annapolis Boat Show! Although we were invited to the various YouTube Creator parties we kind of did our "own thing" since we were with family and celebrating Chris's brothers birthday (@SailingVesselPrism). We were blown away with how many online friends we had the opportunity to meet in real life around the show as well as through our organized meet and greets at the YouTube Creators booth, and Lin Pardey's booth while representing the legend herself. We know this video was not our usual higher-produced content, but considering we took a lot of footage while at the show we figured we might as well make something with it to share with you all and to keep as a memory we can look back at down the line.
