The newest member of the Bestevaer familie: BV53 ‘Xaos’.💙 Like every custom Bestevaer, she was designed and built to the customer's specifications. This is the first Bestevaer 53 S/Y with a ballasted centre board, for example. On deck we see a beautiful black carbon mast. Instead of a traditional red underwater hull, the customer chose to have it painted black. The interior, too, is completely designed and styled as the Dutch owners envisioned it. It was inspired by several previous Bestevaer yachts. Some will recognize the galley from the Aegle, the open pilot house from Jongedame and the 'shed' from the HannaH. But her styling, use of wood and colours, is purely from the minds of the owners. A combination of white ceilings and walls, and oak floors ensure a light atmosphere. Details in black give it a modern look, while earth tones from accessories make it feel homely. One thing we get asked ALL the time is, 'What are your plans?', sometimes less pointedly in the following types of ways: 'When are you leaving?' 'How long will you be there?' 'What will you do at XYZ spot?' 'Can I come visit next week? next month? next year??' Because it feels insincere to repeat 'idk' over and over we usually just answer by discussing options we've considered and making sure to emphasize that things could change. One thing I've come to realize is that unless you live this life full time it's just a tough concept to truly understand. How could we really have NO plans at all? The truth is we do make plans we just don't intend to keep them most of the time. We do it because it's human nature and because it gives us structure (and also because then we have something to talk about with non cruisers) but we've learned not to expect most of them to materialize. Interestingly, when you've opened up your cruising agenda to 'whenever we feel like stopping' or 'whenever something stops us' it's easier not to worry about moving quickly or accomplishing bucket list items. Grip It and Rip It! How slippery is your deck? 🥴 Ours was in rough shape 🙈 Just like everything else on the boat the sun had taken its toll and it was time to spring ourselves from the under belly of our home and start to get the top side up to snuff. After a month of cleaning, oiling, and repairing we decided it’s time to rinse and repeat in the sunshine 🌞 Safety is the major concern on our boat, just as it is on many others, and when it would rain our non-skid offered no assistance when walking on deck. That is why it is no surprise that this was first on the list of outside activities. Our OCD really shined through as usual to get this job done right 💪 But in true Honu fashion we cannot do only one big job at a time… Josh is patiently waiting for the diesel technician to show ⏱ up to do the service and teach him the basics. So, he figured no better time than the present to get the exterior systems working and cross one more thing off the whiteboard ✔️ I truly love the way that we work together and apart in all of our projects. We have done this for years but it really shows through now that we are on the boat. We can have a quick chat in the morning about the days projects and who is doing what, then we’re off and running. There is no separation on our boat of “pink jobs” and “blue jobs”. We just pick something on the list and get it done. The most beautiful part of it all is, if ever one of us runs into an issue or we need to talk something out to come to a solution, we stop what we are doing and come to the others aid. We believe that is what makes our relationship so strong. Ein Refit steht an. Doch Broterwerb und Verpflichtungen lassen es nicht zu, monatelang in Griechenland am Boot zu arbeiten. Da wird schon 2018 die Idee geboren Squib nach Wien zu bringen, wo man jederzeit Zugang hat, der Einkauf von Material in der Muttersprache abgewickelt werden kann und alles andere seinen gewohnten Verlauf nimmt.Bereits 2018 starteten wir Richtung Wien, doch ein Motorschaden in der Straße von Messina zwang uns, den Überstellungstörn abzubrechen. С Севера надвигался сильный циклон Капитан принял решение оставаться в Картагене трое суток... Выходить в море было опасно. По прогнозу ветер 50 узлов, а так как у меня оставалось до вылета в Канаду 12 дней, то 3 суток в Картагене терять не хотелось и я решил сойти с лодки в Картагене и продолжить путешествие самостоятельно (следующие видео) Hа следующее утро попрощавшись я уехал в Гранадy... За ней последует Севилья, Мадрид и Барселона ... За месяц пребывания на лодке прошли 1363 морских мили, посетили Сицилию, Сардинию, Липарские острова, Корсику, Mенорку, Ибицy и непосредственно Испанию (Картагена)... We've already had Remy for 2 years. Before we bought her in Mallorca, we had a surveyor inspecting the conditions she was in. We couldn't be there unfortunately because of the COVID-19 restrictions. It really was time to get her out again and check it with our own eyes! We had a diver a couple of times to clean the bottom.. We are pretty sure the growth is gonna be worse then we want it to be. It's also our summer holiday, so we hope it's gonna be a quick job. Will it be worth sacrificing our time?? We will be sailing the North Sea this coming weeks, and eventually we will leave for the Mediterranean...
