Lisa, Matt, and Andrew dinghy to shore to explore the uninhabited island of Boca Grande, in the Florida keys. The crew’s hopes of finding pirate treasure, quickly turn into concerns for safety, after finding an refugee boat. Captain Matt determines that this boat has been investigated by the Coast Guard, and any people that may have washed ashore with the boat, have been rescued. After a morning of exploring the private beach, the crew goes back to their sailboat. And enjoys tacos and a nap. Next, the crew cruises over to a shipwreck marked on the GPS for some snorkeling, and accidentally finds a new scuba diving site… Thanks for watching! With Corsica, we reach the fourth country on our cruise through the Mediterranean: France. Before that, however, we mix up the Rolex Maxi Cup off Porto Cervo, explore the La Maddalena archipelago, and finally meet friends from Sankt Peter-Ording on Corsica. The short visit turns into ten days, because it keeps blowing up. And so we spend four days in Bonifacio - relaxed and interesting days.
Our first experiences in Fiji, the challenges and highlights.
Just a little update about the work going into Mighty Sparrow s Mast. **Note** Something has gone wrong with my editing software and after many weeks of trying to fix the bug, I can't seem to get the voice over to work with the video. So, I have to move on for my own sanity and just put this one out. I will be working on the final parts this weekend with hope that the future videos will be better.

Conditions today were the worst (or best!)I have ever sailed in. I rig The mirror dinghy up for reefing and put my newly reefed mainsail up and we go for a thrilling...if not slightly scary sail!! This was without doubt the craziest sail I have ever been on. I later found out it was blowing 18mph with 32mph gusts. We broke our speed record today with the reef in at 7.4mph.

We're coming to the end of a big refit we've been doing, transforming an Open 60 2nd generation IMOCA race boat, into a fast family cruiser! She was originally designed built and raced in the Vendée Globe, a single handed non stop around the world race known as "the Everest of the Seas". In this video we give you a tour around the deck to show you all the modifications we've been making to turn this vessel from a race boat to a cruising home. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you enjoyed this video please consider supporting us on Patreon https://www.patreon.com/SailingNV or with a one-off donation via https://ko-fi.com/sailingnv or paypal https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/sailingnv ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Products we've been using: Interprotect epoxy primer - to prime and seal both above and below the waterline https://amzn.to/3pxOPAG https://amzn.to/3T9PvKb Perfection - 2 pack top coat to paint the interior https://amzn.to/3A50VGk Etch primer - to prime metals to prevent corrosion https://www.international-yachtpaint.com/en/sg/boat-paint-products/primers/etch-primer Peel ply https://amzn.to/3pvczWp Epoxy resin https://amzn.to/3ClCOG9 Fibreglass roller https://amzn.to/3QTSGDO -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Caio! We are Timo and Jo, an Italian and English couple with countless ocean miles under our belts, including sailing half way around the world from Europe to Fiji! Last year we bought an Open 66 ft race sailing boat originally designed and built by the famous Hungarian sailor Nándor Fa, which he raced in the 1990 Around Alone & 1992 Vendée Globe (round the world single handed race known as “the Everest of the seas”), becoming the first non-frenchman to finish the race. We are currently in Fiji giving this old gladiator a new lease on life, transforming her from an ex race boat to a performance family cruiser, which we'll need to make both dog and baby proof! We’re planning to set sail again in Oct 2022, so with limited time&money we have plenty of challenges ahead to turn our dreams into reality&get back on the water! Subscribe to our channel&track our progress as we release videos about our journey as well as "how to" videos about anything boat related. Never stop to dream, never stop to sail! Sailing back to where it began in the beautiful Greek islands! 5 years ago we left Paxos in Greece with the plan to sail our home back there one day and in this episode we finally realise that dream! Having first holidayed in the Ionian on a sailboat flotilla holiday in 2014, and fallen in love with a tiny village called Lakka on the stunning island of Paxos, we returned in 2017 and got married there joined by family and friends. We then explored the Island and sailed the surrounding Greek islands of the Ionian on a charter boat and vowed that, when we set sail from the U.K. to explore the world, we would first head for Paxos. Join us as we check in to Greece in Corfu and then set off for the last 30 nautical miles of our journey to make that dream come true - it was both exciting and emotional! #liveaboard #mediterranean #sailing #sailingadventures #sailinglife #sailboat #greece #paxos #ionianislands #sailinggreece #livingonaboat #travelvlog #traveltheworld #sailingchannel #sailingvlog #greekislands Follow our boat on NOFOREIGNLAND: https://www.noforeignland.com/boat/6427841673560064

We also mount long sections of stainless tubing between the pushpit and stanchions to provide a mounting location for the forward pair of solar panels. Spear fishing is perhaps the sport that unleashes the most primal hunting instincts in the human being, as the free diver pursues the prey in a foreign element, while the fish is in its element. The amount of adrenaline unleashed is only comparable with the CO2 that rapidly accumulates in the bloodstream, while the free divers has to deal not only with its prey but with sharks and other predators that want to snatch the harpooned fish. For this reason spear fishers lead the statistics in shark attacks, as feeding frenzies can make the shark mistake fish flesh for human limbs. Watch and you swill see how this can occur!
Maquemo Atoll is one of the larger atolls in the Tuamotus, has two amazing passes to dive and spearfish, and many lovely motus. Maquemo boasts thousands of sharks of different species (most common are black tip, white tip & grey reef - more dangerous) which have the habit of feeding of the boats stern and also of snatching your fish just after you have caught it, making your stay there all that more exciting! Its ¨motus¨ (islands growing out of the atoll reef) are stunningly beautiful, reminiscent of what might have been Robinson Crusoe´s Island in Daniel Defoe´s book and imagination. This book first published in 1719 as Polynesia was being explored and discovered by Europeans.
The passage to Galapagos is a bit challenging for two reasons: 1st you have to cross the Doldrums which at the time of the year boats go to the Pacific, they extend from Panama to about half way to Galapagos, requiring 3 or 4 days of motoring. 2nd'ly when you finally enter the tradewinds belt they are S-SE instead of the normal E-SE due to the proximity to the South American continent. For this reason you have to sail closed haul on a port tack until you get near Galapagos when the winds die out again due to the cold waters of the Humboldt current,

Hello and welcome to the Sailing and Cruising the East Coast of the United States podcast. For this episode, we have a guest, Mike Malekoff. Two years ago he purchased a Hunter 44 DS in Maine, had it shipped via a truck to Burlington VT, and for the last 2 years has been sailing on Lake Champlain. This Fall he is taking down the mast and along with his wife will transit the Lake Champlain canal to the Hudson River. Then it’s down the East Coast to Florida and then heading East to the Bahamas. We had a great conversation about sailing, safety, boats, and all of the random stuff that two sailors can talk about. I hope you enjoy the podcast. If you would like to support the podcast, we now have a Patreon page. Just go to Patreon.com/sailingtheeast. We love to hear from you, our listeners, send us your questions, comments, and suggestions at sailingtheeast@gmail.com. If you know someone that would be an interesting guest on the show, please reach out to us and let us know—wishing you fair winds, and calm seas. Bela and Mike

Over the past months, we have been working on a special project together with the Überseequartier Nord in Hamburg: the new OPEN ART exhibition "Malizia - Seaexplorer". This open-air exhibition features our 50 most iconic photographs displayed in a large format on the Überseeboulevard, a pedestrian walk in the heart of Hamburg's Hafencity. These images encompass snapshots of research work, drone shots, photos taken during races or the construction of our new Malizia - Seaexplorer racing yacht, as well as of our team. The opening of the 26th OPEN-ART exhibition was part of our two-day Malizia Ocean Festival from 6 to 7 September 2022, which focused on the relevance of climate protection for the oceans under the motto "A Race We Must Win" and saw the christening of our new boat. The open-air exhibition last for 7 months until 6 April 2023 and is accessible to everyone free of charge! Shot and edited by Tom Heinemann (https://www.time-of-motion.com) For more information on the exhibition: www.überseequartier-nord.de

Join us weekly for more boat restoration fun! In this week's video we've been hauled out and get to see the hull of our boat for the first time! We're on a tight timeline with heaps of work to get done before being splashed in two weeks time so we start off with the chore of sanding back the ENTIRE hull, adding multiple coats of primer and then multiple coats of anti-foul. The best bit though, Walter got his 100 metre swimming badge... Follow us on Instagram: @at_the_hansons Subscribe to our YouTube: Sailing Nendaz
