Nach zwei schweren Wochen kehrt langsam das Lachen zurück an Bord der Dilly-Dally. Und das haben wir vor allem unseren neuen und alten Freunden in Almerimar zu verdanken. Auch an dieser Stelle: Danke dafür! Langsam (aber sicher nicht endgültig) nähern sich auch die Reparaturen, Instandsetzungen und Neuerungen an Bord dem Ende. Wir haben den neuen Autopiloten installiert, neue Geber für Wind, Tiefe und Geschwindigkeit eingebaut, das Boot noch einmal aus dem Wasser gehoben - und hoffen nun, dass es bald weitergeht Richtung Gibraltar. Unterstützung haben wir von Serkan bekommen, meinem Bootsnachbarn aus der Türkei, der uns die nächsten Etappen begleiten wird und schon kräftig unter und an Deck werkelt. Da wir eine neue Rettungsinsel gekauft haben, ebenso wie einige andere Boote, haben wir kurzerhand den ersten Advent zum Badetag erkoren - und unsere alten, abgelaufenen Rettungsinseln getestet und geübt, was im Ernstfall zu tun ist.

During the off-season, I ordered a custom-made #4 (80%) jib to pair with my double-reefed mainsail. Chip Buck at Point Sails was the designer and sail maker. I sail double-reefed quite a bit because the winds in the Rocky Mountains are often heavy and very gusty, and my 100% jib was inducing leehelm. The Meri Crew's cruising channel! We are a couple who love spending time aboard our boat and doing all the fun things that are part of cruising: sailing (of course), visiting new places and meeting new people, snorkeling, scuba diving, kiteboarding, fishing, hiking, exploring, spending time outdoors and watching the sun rise and set over the water. Our first couple years we sailed on a Tartan 4100 and spent time on the Chesapeake Bay, down the east coast to Florida, to the Bahamas and back a couple times, and up the east coast to Maine and as far as Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. Bedingt durch private Gründe und die zunächst noch anhaltenden Corona-Reisebeschränkungen verzichteten wir schweren Herzen auf die Fortsetzung unserer Reise um die Welt. Stattdessen sind wir nach Europa zurückgekehrt und werden vorerst mit den Kanarischen Inseln vorlieb nehmen.. Wir, das sind Anett und Peter aus Berlin, seit fast acht Jahren mit unserer Annamera, einer Wauquiez Pilot Salon 40, auf Weltreise unterwegs. Nach fast fast drei Jahren in Griechenland haben wir das Mittelmeer durchquert und nach den Azoren, Madeira und den Kanaren 2020 den Atlantik überquert. In der Karibik sind wir gleich zu Beginn in die „Corona-Falle“ gelaufen, die den weiteren Verlauf unserer Reise maßgeblich beeinflusst hat. Nach jeweils fünf Monaten auf Martinique und Bonaire sind wir schließlich auf Kuba und in Mexiko gelandet. Zeitgleich mit unserer Abreise aus Griechenland haben wir 2018 unseren YouTube-Kanal „ANNAMERA SAILING“ gegründet, in dem wir über unsere Segelreisen berichten. Dabei sind uns Landausflüge genauso wichtig wie das Segeln und wir versuchen, das Beste aus beiden Welten für andere nachvollziehbar darzustellen. Durch die etwas aufwendigere Art der Editierung können unsere Videos nur etwa im monatlichen Abstand erscheinen. We are preparing for winter, we have experience of living on a boat for 10 winters past and we aren't looking forward to it, however it is the only way to get to spring so we have put in place some methods to cope and with positivity and community on our side we will endure and we will emerge like beautiful butterflies.
