Desiderata and I were in a battle not only with each other but with the clock. She had already stressed me out multiple times trying to just get out under the Golden Gate, but this time she knew we were heading further north around Cape Mendocino so she knew I needed to give her more attention even yet. Sure glad I did. A huge thank you to Noyo Harbor where I was able to secure a slip to work on her and let her rest while I was 5 hours away working. This boat has taught me allot of patience Thats for sure. I am hoping to get some photos off my phone for the next video of the trip. I am stuck in port due to weather so not much eles to do i suppose. Cheers.

The Adventures of Home-built Dredging: Two Guys Striking Gold on a River Next to a Sand Mine" The two friends, Rene and Jose, lived in a small village nestled deep in the jungles of Mindanao. They had both grown up in the area and had known each other since they were children. They had always dreamed of striking it rich by finding gold, and they had heard stories of the rich deposits that could be found in the nearby rivers. One day, they decided to take action and build a dredge to mine for gold in the river that flowed through their village. They spent weeks gathering materials and building the dredge, and when it was finally ready, they set out on their first mining expedition. The river was fast-moving, and the water was clear and cold. They quickly realized that the wet season floods would be a problem, so they decided to work during the dry season and take a break during the wet season. They worked hard and were rewarded with good color in the first panning, which encouraged them to keep mining. Their mining efforts were successful, and they were able to earn about $400 US dollars a week, a significant amount of money for the area. They used the money to support their families and the extended village, and they were able to improve the living conditions of the people in the village. Rene and Jose were happy that they could help the people they care about and they are now respected members of the community. They continue to mine for gold, always looking for that big nugget, and they are proud of the fact that they have built a sustainable business that not only benefits them but also their community.

We enjoy our last days in Miami, FL aboard our 1996 Fountaine Pajot Athena 38 catamaran sailboat. We head out for Miami but have to turn back to the harbor due to our buddy boat having engine trouble. The next day we encounter a pop-up microburst storm. We once again leave Miami, FL and head south for Marathon, FL stopping along the way for some new adventures, including collecting snails and making our own escargot. @sailingkasada

We experience a lot of "firsts" on this journey of ours. First time eating a new food or first time visiting a new country are pretty common. This week, we went on our first sailing voyage: a four-day, 950-mile journey from Sicily to Gibraltar. And when I say "we," I mean the boys! Gina and Ruby decided to bow out and take a short trip to one of the happiest places on earth. Before they left, we celebrated Emerson's upcoming birthday. We're so happy to have Emerson in our family! Before we hit the road (or water, so to speak), and mostly because Gina wasn't around to cook, we went on a food tour in Stromboli. Food tours are one of our favorite things to do in a new city or culture. Getting a food guide to show you great local spots is well worth the money. I guarantee we never would have eaten in some of the best places we've been without someone showing us around. I highly recommend it! As expected, once we got on the open sea, things weren't always smooth sailing. We had our share of literal and figurative snags along the way. Sometimes we were lucky and sometimes we used the skills we've picked up out here, but we always learn something new. It's such a blessing to be out here with the people I love most in the world. Maserati Multi70 e le altre 20 imbarcazioni iscritte alla regata hanno tagliato la linea di partenza in due flotte scaglionate (alle 14:00 UTC/ora locale i multiscafi, alle 14:10 UTC/ora locale i monoscafi) davanti ad Arrecife con un vento da Nord Est, intensità 8 nodi. Da Puerto Calero, Lanzarote, percorreranno 2995 miglia superando le Canarie e navigando attraverso l’oceano Atlantico fino all’isola di Grenada, nei Caraibi orientali. “Oggi è la giornata più critica per noi perché alla partenza ci sarà poco vento e potrebbero esserci buchi di vento anche importanti a sud di Lanzarote.” ha commentato Giovanni Soldini a pochi minuti dalla partenza. “Siamo destinati a soffrire un po’ le condizioni nelle prime ore, ma da questa notte in poi cominceremo a entrare nell’Aliseo, la regata diventerà veloce e anche i nostri foil smetteranno di essere un problema e anzi speriamo si trasformino in un vantaggio”. Sulla linea dello start insieme a Maserati Multi70, i diretti rivali del team italiano: Snowflake (ex Phaedo3) che unisce a bordo Brian Thompson e Gavin Brady, e Zoulou con Ned Collier Wakefield e Loick Peyron. La sfida è aperta al record di velocità di 5 giorni, 22 ore, 46 minuti e 03 secondi, stabilito dal MOD70 Phaedo3 di Lloyd Thornburg nel 2015. “Rispetto agli avversari,” continua Soldini “Snowflake, con due metri in più di albero e bompresso più lungo, navigherà con un angolo più aperto e sarà in grado di scendere di più nell’Aliseo, hanno più vele e le condizioni lo favoriscono; e anche Zoulou con Peyron sarà pericolosa, hanno dei tip sui foil che sono efficienti e permettono alla barca di raggiungere medie molto alte in poppa. Wir, das sind Anett und Peter aus Berlin, seit fast acht Jahren mit unserer Annamera, einer Wauquiez Pilot Salon 40, auf Weltreise unterwegs. Nach fast fast drei Jahren in Griechenland haben wir das Mittelmeer durchquert und nach den Azoren, Madeira und den Kanaren 2020 den Atlantik überquert. In der Karibik sind wir gleich zu Beginn in die „Corona-Falle“ gelaufen, die den weiteren Verlauf unserer Reise maßgeblich beeinflusst hat. Nach jeweils fünf Monaten auf Martinique und Bonaire sind wir schließlich auf Kuba und in Mexiko gelandet. Zeitgleich mit unserer Abreise aus Griechenland haben wir 2018 unseren YouTube-Kanal „ANNAMERA SAILING“ gegründet, in dem wir über unsere Segelreisen berichten. Dabei sind uns Landausflüge genauso wichtig wie das Segeln und wir versuchen, das Beste aus beiden Welten für andere nachvollziehbar darzustellen. Durch die etwas aufwendigere Art der Editierung können unsere Videos nur etwa im monatlichen Abstand erscheinen. Jonah and Ian lead this hands-on class on knots. We started with a review of the most used knots including different ways to tie them. Then we l progress to intermediate knots, examples include a bowline on a bight, anchor hitch, and halyard hitch. Next, we did advanced knots the double fisherman's bend, flying bowline, and trucker's hitch. We wrap up with some show knots: monkey fist, and flying cleat hitch. Truly a Seriously fun class. Finalmente subi meu veleiro para a reforma total. Foi um pouco complicado, pois a carreta não encaixava. mas brasileiro sempre dá um jeito. My lovely Drascombe supplied tiller handle broke on it's first use, so I brought it home and got to work on it. We firstly have to stick it back together, but then we had to fix the fault it had of a little gap between the handle and the end. I think this is what made it inherently weak so I decided to epoxy that up too. Lastly I wind a nice string handle which not only helps to strengthen the handle but also gives it a bit more Drascombe character!!!
