I'm starting a series of musical shorts. We know shorts are a controversial and polarising thing and some people hate them. My feeling is that if you're going to do them they need to offer something different and extra to the channel., For ages I've been wracking my brains to think of how to make shorts which are more than just a meaningless clip or and update. But then this idea occurred to me. I've wanted to make more music related content on the channel but I also know some people don't like it when I play guitar in the episodes and want to just see boat related content, which is also cool. So I think this is perfect. Musical shorts where I play some music on guitar and other instruments. And if you don't like them they're only short and you don't have to watch them as they don't impact on our normal episodes. Hopefully thats interesting enough to be engaging but not so irritating as to get on too many peoples nerves. Love you all Andy

Safe sailing. Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc- V700 with a Rode External mic with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action, underwater scenes and small blogging is done with two Osmo action cams. Some boat shots are done with a Dji gimbal camera. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘bland and mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have completely no communications with the outside World. On the last day of January 2022 we transited Panama canal from the Pacific side to the Atlantic side. We had spent some time in the South Pacific on our monohull so we were not yet ready to head back across in that direction. Although most other vessels in Panama were certainly gearing up to go the 'right' way. We were ready for an Atlantic ocean adventure! So with Minnie and Pa onboard to help as line handlers and the rest of our experienced crew we took on the canal. This incredible feat of engineering did no disappoint and inspired awe at every lock. It was a huge day but a successful transit and we hope in sharing this experience you may be encouraged to visit the canal or have more insight into what to expect if you plan to take your own boat through. We sail to an anchorage painted with red rocks as we take a hike to explore the desert landscape. Moving North we sail to Agua Verde BCS Mexico and take in all the beauty of the area as we provision more food and pick up homemade tortillas! While getting low on supplies we make a dash for Loreto and get caught in very heavy wind and need to divert east to Isla Carmen instead of North towards Loreto. Pushing our Gemini 105mc catamaran sailboat to its limits? Or just pushing our limits?!

The leading IMOCAs are expected to arrive in Cabo Verde overnight Friday night and into Saturday morning as the fleet eats up the miles on ‘the highway’ south. Sailing fast, and pointing at the finish - it’s a great feeling. Both IMOCA and VO65 fleets have been winding their way past the Canary Islands. Now, it’s just a matter of heading to the finish.

RORC Vice Commodore Eric de Turckheim, racing his NMYD 54 Teasing Machine (FRA) is the overall winner under IRC for the 2023 RORC Transatlantic Race. While 10 boats are still racing, none of them can beat Teasing Machine’s corrected time under IRC for overall victory. However, the battle is still on for those racing for class honours and special prizes. The arrival of JASI 🦢 The team aboard the 115ft Swan Jasi, skippered by Toby Clarke, accomplished an impressive feat by completing the RORC Transatlantic Race in 9 days, 14 hours, 45 minutes, and 30 seconds. The evening meal aboard GRACE, cooked on the Trangia (meths) cooker. Boat Harbour is a natural little bay, very sheltered to everything but SE wind/waves. At times I've seen 15-20 boats stacked up in there.

As our cruising season comes to an end, we leave South Molle Island and sail back to beautiful Thomas Island, where we enjoy the beach all to ourselves. We then sail on to Mackay, where we slip the boat, strip her down for cyclone season, and head home for the summer holiday period at North Avoca. The diversity of the islands and cities, the beaches and bays along the Croatian coast are of enchanting beauty. The Kra waterfalls and the fjord of Sibenik, Hvar, Brac and Krocula with its picturesque harbour towns and bays, Vis which was a long military restricted area and is still an insider tip today and Dugi Otok with its hidden and partly deserted beaches, majestic cliffs and lush vegetation. Starting point of our sailing cruise is the beautiful ancient town of Trogir, which can be reached within 15 minutes from Split airport. In the weekly change we sail once more to the south (Makarska, Brac) and in the following week more to the north to Sibenik and Dugi Otok.
