Nous avons eu la chance de profiter d'un temps magnifique et d'une mer calme pour cette sortie de pêche en Méditerranée. Pour cette session de pêche, nous avons choisi d'utiliser des leurres Inchuku, qui sont particulièrement efficaces pour attraper une variété de poissons en mer. Nous avons pu observer plusieurs espèces de poissons qui ont mordu à nos leurres. Nous avons également pris le temps de profiter du paysage et de nous détendre sur le bateau, en admirant la beauté de la côte méditerranéenne et en prenant le temps d'apprécier notre passion pour la pêche. You think a girl has it easy onboard a sailboat? Before and even after we drop anchor, the sailing boat life can come with a certain set of difficulties. In the boat everyone is equal, regardless if you are a girl, you still have to do the same task a the captain. For our life onboard we need to find water. Long distance sailing also requires us to get fuel on our sailboat and what happens when there is too little wind? Plans can be made but we cannot control the weather. And even once we anchor in a protected anchorage, we are not always safe from a sudden, severe storm. Follow us on SV CUBA as we sail west, on a tight schedule. After a 2 year refit on the hard stand in Fiji, transforming our open 66 into a family cruiser, we are finally floating again and now find ourselves fixing things underwater! A few weeks ago our gearbox stopped working - leaving us engine-less just as we were about to enter a reef pass and the night before a low pressure system was coming through https://youtu.be/c4esY31IW1o In our previous video https://youtu.be/NrvSVEcaO6E we investigated down below only to find that our hopes of there being a simple problem such as propeller blades being blocked by a rope or piece of wood dashed. Our second best hope was that the issue is with the bronze propeller body, and that its interior is corroded and no longer grips the stainless steel shaft of the sail drive. If instead the problem is with the interior of the sail drive, especially the lower part, this has the potential for being a major issue for us, as it’s almost impossible to haul out again here in Fiji, due to the effort and expense involved in heeling our boat over to reduce our nearly 5 metre draft to enter channel into the marina https://youtu.be/w2yHOcp_fII But before we worry too much about this, the next step is to remove the propeller and check the interior of the body. To do this we attached an old piece of sail to the underneath of the boat to be sure not to lose any pieces! As due to a lack of scuba equipment, this job was going to be tackled by free diving In the last video we’d taken the propeller blades off, so next up, it’s time to take off the body of the propeller... The part we are looking for is called vibration damper Volvo part number 872809. Creating and rejuvenating a grown knee for the stern post, fairing and finishing are all completed in this episode of The Art of Boat Building. We not only see the reuse of a 100-year-old grown knee for the sternpost, but also the assembly, finishing, and installation of the bulkheads and transom.
