Nous partons de la République Dominicaine pour Panama, 980 milles à parcourir, 7 à 8 jours de mer. Nous naviguons au près les quelques premières heures et nous changeons de cap pour naviguer au portant. Pendant cette traversée de la mer des caraïbes, nous aurons pas mal de vagues avec quelques déferlantes et pour moi un mal de mer . Next, Bill and friends Big D and Jared work together using Total Boat fairing compound to smooth out the blisters. The next morning we awake at our casita and begin the morning routine: Coffee with our crew. Before heading to the yard today we load up the burban and head to the hardware store to pick up more sanding paper. We are surprised to find a large collection of pet live tortugas (turtles) hanging out near the front of the store. Once at the yard the team resumes sanding the now cured fairing compound so that another layer can be added to continue to smooth out the blisters. Bill explains how the compound is created using two brightly colored chemical ingredients and how to properly mix these. Bill next explains the latest developments in the arch building process. Recently due to a miscommunication the roof part of arch was initially constructed with tubing that is comically large. The stainless pipes' length needs to be shortened. Bill explains that the project is challenging because of the language barrier and due to the complexity of the engineering considerations in terms of strength, load displacement and flex. Next Bill heads to the welders spot in the yard to examine the chalk drawings which model the prototype and discuss the latest developments with Ricky our welder. He shows our viewers how the arch will be constructed as compared with our old davits design. Finally the boys carry the now newly welded tubes over to Calico Skies and as a team balance on the scaffolding to lift them up and into place on her stern. Il aura fallu deux semaines pour rendre Javerne présentable. Tout y a passé. Après le gros ponçage qui aura nécessité 4 personnes pendant une semaine, les couches se suivent, primaire epoxy, Sitmacap Coaltar, qui est une protection epoxy souple permettant d’absorber les petits coups, puis deux couches d’antifooling dans lequel on aura rajouté 2kg de poudre de cuivre pour augmenter sa longévité. Réception et usinage de la vesconite pour la fabrication des paliers de safran, et remontage, et tout s’est parfaitement passé. Puis un énorme nettoyage, puis un deuxième, et gros polish de la coque. Au final Javerne est magnifique. (Oui, les anglophones disent she, « elle » pour un bateau) 😂. Et une remise à l’eau parfaitement orchestrée par Peter, le patron du chantier. Grosse affluence au Bloscon avec le tour du Finistère à la voile, Malgré les 25 Nds annoncé nous partons au mouillage dans le Nord-Est de l'île Calot pour deux jours.

Bienvenue sur ma chaine ! Le 24 aout 2022, nous avons eu une journée incroyable en mer, à la recherche des géants des mers sur chasse. Nous avons quitté le port tôt le matin, pleins d'enthousiasme et d'excitation pour cette première de pêche au gros sur chasse avec un guide de pêche, Les conditions météorologiques étaient parfaites pour une journée en mer, avec un ciel bleu sans nuages et une brise légère. Après une heure de navigation, nous avons repéré un banc de thons en train de chasser en surface. Nous avons rapidement préparé les leurres et nous avons commencé à pêcher. Nous avons eu de la chance dès le début, car l'un de nos leurres a été pris par un thon affamé. La lutte a commencé alors que le thon se battait pour se libérer. Nous avons tous travaillé dur pour garder le poisson sous contrôle, mais il a réussi à prendre quelques longueurs de fil avant que nous ne puissions le rattraper. Après une bataille acharnée de plusieurs minutes, nous avons finalement réussi à amener le thon à bord. C'était un magnifique thon rouge ! Nous étions ravis et fiers de notre capture. Nous avons continué à pêcher tout au long de la journée, mais malheureusement, mais cela ne nous a pas empêchés de profiter de la beauté de la mer Méditerranée. C'était une expérience inoubliable de voir ces animaux majestueux évoluer dans leur habitat naturel. En fin d'après-midi, nous avons regagné le port, fatigués mais heureux de notre journée de pêche réussie. Ce fut une expérience incroyable de pêcher un thon si impressionnant et de passer la journée en mer avec des amis passionnés par la pêche.
