Leg No.2 from Nelson Bay to Coffs Harbour was a dream run really. Very low winds were forecasted but in reality we had just enough to keep up a nice average speed and sailed right up to the entrance of Coffs Harbour. Having a boat thats light and sails fast in low winds is a really advantage and Trade Runner ticks these boxes nicely. We are in communication with management from Leopard Catamarans and Robertson & Caine, representatives from both have flown out to the boat, the crossbeam was removed as part of the hull inspections and some talented guys from Leopard and JS Marine have flown in to work on the hull with us. This video continues to give you an insight into what can go right and wrong with new boat ownership. We will be sharing some of the positive developments that have been happening behind the scenes and some of what still needs to be done to launch and continue the adventure. This video also begins to detail how Travelopia/Leopard catamarans are evolving the speed, care and attention that they give to warranty issues and the still fluid nature of our situation working with them. Trent still has a lot of respect for various R&C and Travelopia staff and is spending a lot of his time and energy trying to steer the situation towards an overall positive outcome for all. Trent wanted it noted that Leopard/Travelopia choosing to stand with the customer even if at this late stage and by their brand deserves recognition and respect despite the hardship caused unnecessarily in the past by certain staff members and processes. The non disclosure agreement Trent mentioned was sent to AJ and Tad on SV Helms Deep when they attempted to get a copy of the warranty conditions for issues on their new NEEL 47 Trimaran. AJ and Tad refused to sign the NDA and have shared it online as part of a series detailing their experience as new owners of a yacht manufactured by NEEL Trimarans. They are new to Youtube so it would be good if the cruising community could show them some support for being brave enough to speak out. With light winds being forecast for the final day of the Pallas Capital TP52 Gold Cup | Act 4 at the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club on Sydney’s Pittwater, the Race Committee made the decision to hold the event in-shore on Towler’s Bay. Five boats competed in the light conditions with four races on day 1 leaving only 2 races for the final day when the wind was forecast to drop out. The Act 4 winning boat was Seb Bohm’s Smuggler which beat David Doherty’s Matador which had won the previous 3 Acts. The overall series winner in both TPR & IRC was Matador, which also won last year’s series. The prizegiving & celebrations at the RPAYC wrap up a successful 2023 event; Craig Neil from the TP52 Aus organising committee confirmed that the series would be back, bigger and better next year.

The last time The Ocean Race was in Kiel, was on 9 June, 2002, and the German team, illbruck, was being celebrated for winning the Volvo Ocean Race. In the crowd was a young German sailor beginning his career - Boris Herrmann - and the event made a lasting impressions. “I used to live in Kiel, I finished my studies there, I sailed and trained a lot there, so I have a great connection to the city," Herrmann said in anticipation of today's events. "I also experienced The Ocean Race myself there in 2002 with the legendary victory of the Illbruck. I was on the water and remember that day as if it was yesterday."
