An progress report on the refit of my Westsail 32. Lots of tasks completed, with plenty left to do.
First place, last place and very much everything in between. Check out the many versions of R2AK, all in one episode.
This is one long work day in Port Protection, Alaska. We’re back under the house continuing the foundation repair after two trees came down on it and shifted everything. This is video 4… maybe 5 at this point… we’ve honestly lost track. Today turns into one of those full days where you’re just in it. A lot of snow shoveling. A lot of moving heavy posts. A lot of standing there looking at something, talking it through, and then trying it anyway. We deal with the post under the house that is not actually holding anything up....so that's interesting. We take it out and work toward putting something in that actually does. From there it’s just steady problem solving. Lifting, trimming, adjusting, rethinking, trying again. Nothing is perfectly straight, nothing fits exactly right, and every step leads to another decision. Scott’s figuring it out in real time. Audrey’s filming, questioning, and occasionally helping (or making it more complicated, depending who you ask). Some of it feels solid. Some of it feels a little questionable. Most of it is just working through it. Somewhere in the middle of all this it starts to feel like an episode of The Office… just with heavier materials and colder weather. This isn’t a how-to. It’s just what it looks like to be in it. ⏱️ CHAPTERS: 00:00 Snow Dump + Start of the Day 01:00 How Much Weight Was on the Roof 02:00 Looking at the House Shift 03:30 Trying to Understand the Sag 05:00 No Blueprint, Just a Plan 06:30 Talking Through Options 08:00 Concrete + Rebar Decisions 09:30 Shoveling Heavy Snow 11:30 Snow Sliding Back Down 13:00 “This Is a Workout” 14:30 Clearing Access to the House 16:00 Quick Break + Regroup 18:00 Back Under the House 20:00 Looking at the Post Setup 22:00 Planning the Base + Footer 24:00 “Plumb” vs Level 26:00 Marking + Drilling 28:30 Setting Rebar + Adhesive 32:00 Prepping the Post 34:30 First Lift Attempt 37:00 Trying to Set It 40:00 Doesn’t Fit 43:00 Getting the Post Back Out 46:00 What Needs to Change 49:00 Cutting + Adjusting 52:00 Resetting for Round Two 55:00 Post Drops Into Place 58:00 Checking Plumb 1:00:00 Explaining the Gap 1:02:00 First Post Set 1:04:00 Noticing a Crack 1:06:00 Talking Materials + Choices 1:08:00 Planning Next Steps 1:10:00 Tools + Cleanup 1:12:00 Setting Temporary Support 1:15:00 Jacking the House Slightly 1:18:00 Positioning Support Post 1:21:00 Driving It In 1:24:00 Adjusting Placement 1:27:00 Locking It In 1:30:00 Adding Stability 1:33:00 Final Adjustments 1:36:00 Getting Everything Solid 1:39:00 Stepping Back + Checking Work 1:42:00 End of Day Thoughts 1:45:00 End

#barcheavela #beneteau #nautica
This is part 6 of a step-by-step build of a B&B Yacht Designs Spindrift 10 nesting dinghy, following the guidance from the build instructions. This video focuses on installing the locker hatches, a unique way of attaching gunwale protectors as well as an ingenious approach to making the sections watertight! I purchased the pre-cut "kit" to save some time, but the same results can be accomplished by purchasing the build instructions and cutting your own marine-grade plywood. This video is for those who are looking to build their own dinghy, and who wish to learn more about the process. This is the second project Brent and I worked on together, the previous being a 7' pram for Brent. I hope you enjoy, and I hope you take away some successes we had, as well as learning from some of the failures we encountered.
We recently got a chance to tour the new Schaefer Yachts V33 SportFish during the Palm Beach International Boat Show. With an overall length off 33 feet, 11 inches, and an 11 foot beam, the first thing that caught our eye was the versatility of the space. The cockpit features two fold-away benches creating a spacious deck to fight fish in and move around safely. On the transom, there is a tow bar for family time, cup and rod holders and two live bait wells. The cockpit floor itself has two fish boxes, one of which is insulated and the other larger one usable for storage, whether it's just fenders and mooring lines, or the removable table that mounts into the cockpit floor. The aft-facing console cover, supported by two air shocks, lifts up easily to reveal an electric grill, ice box and a small sink. With fishability being the focus on the SF version, the cockpit also features 4 electric reel outlets and both a raw and fresh water washdown hose tucked away in a compartment in the starboard gunwale. Two telescopic poles also tuck away neatly, which can be used for putting up a full beam canvas cover for shade above the cockpit as well. The helm itself features bench seats that can articulate to comfortably run the boat standing, a joystick and bow thruster control, two simrad screens for navigation and a two level foot rest. Like all V33 models with Schaefer, the SF has a spacious air-conditioned cabin for a boat of its size, a dinette that converts to a V-berth option for 2 people, and a wet head to the starboard size. On the bow, the two-person sunpad also allows access to the forward cabin, with an additional raw and fresh water washdown hose neatly tucked away in the bow along with Schaefers' popular catapult-style anchoring system. Calypso sets the benchmark in IRC Class at the Royal Malta Yacht Club Spring Regatta, with Sebastian Ripard’s team delivering a strong and consistent performance to lead the fleet. Across a competitive weekend of racing, crews were tested by varied conditions, but Calypso’s pace and precision proved decisive as the regatta unfolded. A great display of racing across both IRC and Club classes 👏

CAMBRIA (along with her 75-feet waterline length cousins ASTRA and CANDIDA, the first three ‘Big Class’ yachts to be bermudan-rigged from launch) has long been dubbed a 23-Metre. However, while designed to rate around that figure under the International Rule, a key element of her survival into the 21st Century – still a magnificent racer-cruiser; every sweet William Fife III curve still in place while supporting perhaps the tallest of all truly wooden masts – is her stout original construction to Lloyd’s then highest specifications for wood and wood-composite yachts, rather than to the lighter International Rule scantlings. https://www.sandemanyachtcompany.co.uk/yacht/792/CAMBRIA Thus CAMBRIA, adored, maintained and respected for most of her life, has remarkably never required a total rebuild restoration. Her soul remains intact through recent major refits “sympathetic to her origins and respectful of her history”, and this is immediately apparent on first stepping aboard this happy, beautiful, historic, and very special classic yacht.

As part of my preparation for my solo sail around the world I went to a professional Sea Survival Training. The most intense moment? Being locked inside a car, dropped into the water and flipped 180 degrees – total disorientation, heart pounding, learning to stay calm and escape. Later we faced a full storm simulation in darkness with wind, thunder and waves. We finished in open water testing life jackets and group survival techniques. This day was far more than theory – it was about facing fear, trusting yourself and preparing for the unexpected. One huge step closer to my solo circumnavigation. Preparation is everything. ❄️🚤💙 Love my videos? Photoradio@rocketmail.com Pearl Slant Razor ASCO razor blade Yaqi Atlantic Synthetic Shaving Brush Master Soap Creations Light Blue Shaving Soap. Master Soap Creations Light Blue Aftershave. The shaving soap is inspired by Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue. The Pearl Slant Razor was made in India. In this video I'm performing a three pass shave. With the grain. Across the grain. Against the grain. I start by wetting my stubble with warm water. Then I take the wet shaving brush to the shaving soap tub. I load the brush by swirling the brush around the shaving soap tub. I then take the loaded brush to my face and paint the soap onto my skin. I then gradually add more water to the soap by dipping the tips in water and scrubbing the soap on my face to build a nice lather. Once my lather is built I take the razor and perform my three pass shave. Once my face is cleanly shaved, I rinse with cold water. I then towel dry my face and apply the Master Soap Creations Light Blue Aftershave. Come along and see how I get on. Please consider subscribing to my channel. Thank you for your time. 16. Inside the Market - Yacht Sales Insights & Trends for March 2026 - Berthon International Yach...
March brings a complex backdrop for the yachting industry, with global uncertainty continuing to influence buyer confidence and decision-making. In this episode of Inside the Market, we take a closer look at the yacht brokerage landscape as it stands heading into the spring season. Joining the discussion are Sue Grant and Tim Carbury, who share Berthon’s Top 7 Yacht Sales Insights for March 2026. This episode also marks a transition within the business, as Tim prepares to take over leadership of the sales group, with Sue stepping away after many years at the centre of Berthon’s brokerage activity. Across the market, conditions remain mixed. The new yacht sector is currently flat, with a noticeable slowdown in buyer activity. Rising build costs and wider economic pressures are leading some buyers to delay decisions, while others are shifting their focus towards brokerage yachts, where the gap in value between new and second-hand vessels has widened significantly. In contrast, the brokerage market continues to show steady activity. Sales are completing across a range of sectors, particularly in larger yachts and well-presented, recent listings. While enquiry levels vary by region, there is a consistent flow of transactions, supported by both new listings coming to market and committed buyers who are prepared to move forward when the right opportunity presents itself. Pricing and negotiation remain central to the current landscape. Buyers are approaching deals carefully and often making firm offers, but there is a clear willingness to proceed when agreements are reached. This has created a relatively balanced environment, where neither buyers nor sellers hold a decisive advantage. There are also differences in sentiment across the industry. While parts of the new yacht sector are experiencing more challenging conditions, the brokerage market remains active and responsive. As discussed in the episode, understanding these distinctions and responding accordingly is key to navigating the current environment. At the same time, some buyers continue to monitor the market rather than commit immediately, often waiting for greater clarity around geopolitical and economic conditions. However, as the conversation highlights, purchasing decisions in yachting are frequently driven by personal timelines as much as external factors, and interest in yacht ownership remains consistent. As ever, the fundamentals remain unchanged. Well-maintained yachts, realistic pricing, and clear market positioning continue to determine which yachts sell and which remain available. Key Points • The new yacht market is currently flat, with some buyers delaying decisions or moving into brokerage due to rising build costs. • Brokerage activity remains steady, particularly in larger yachts and recent, well-presented listings. • New listings are entering the market, with a mix of discretionary and necessary sales. • Buyers are negotiating firmly but are following through when deals are agreed. • Market sentiment varies across sectors, with brokerage remaining more active than new build. • Some buyers are monitoring conditions closely before committing, influenced by wider geopolitical and economic uncertainty. • Strong pricing, good presentation, and proper service history remain critical to achieving a successful sale. Faded flag? Worn-out textiles? We may have found a game changer… 👀 In this video, we test Flagstuff from Gloss Factory—a Norwegian product that claims to restore color and shine to tired, sun-bleached fabrics using nano enzyme technology. Our test subject? A seriously worn Norwegian flag that’s been flying on the boat for far too long… to the point where it’s honestly a bit embarrassing. Can this product actually bring it back to life? Or is it too good to be true? We take you through the full process—application, technique, and of course the results—filmed with the Rock of Gibraltar in the background. If this works, it could be a must-have for anyone dealing with faded textiles on board. 👉 Link to the product: https://www.garasjetid.no/nyheter/flaggstoff Note: This video is dubbed from Norwegian.
