With the rare big freeze, these lakes and bays are completely covered in thick ice – something that happens less and less often. Watch families skating, children racing, long elegant strokes… and then the real spectacle: ice sailors (ijszeilers) flying across the frozen surface on their boats with metal runners, reaching incredible speeds! From the peaceful beauty of Naardermeer, to the fast ice yachts zooming over the Gouwzee, to the quiet, snowy pontoons at Marina Muiderzand – these moments feel like stepping back in time to the classic Dutch winters. After a few days in Olbia on Sardinia we sail north in shifty wind towards the Maddalena archipelago. Gitte finds her happy place and Anders do some tricky navigation. Litza do what she does best:) We are a middle aged couple that has left our hectic business lives to go sailing with our sailboat Fridá af Wisby and our cat Litza. Our goal is sail the Mediterrainean Sea and really enjoy life. Anders has been at the sea most of his life and sailed for the Swedish national dingy sailing team as a young man. Gitte has also grown up with boats and spent every summer sailing with her father as a teenager. Onboard we also have our cat Litza a Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans. Clemens bringt dafür seine Perspektive als Biologe ein, Claus erweitert das Bild um Themen wie Geschichte und Kontext an den Küsten, an denen man vorbeisegelt. Im Zentrum steht das Beobachten von Flora und Fauna vom Boot aus. Clemens erklärt, warum Vorbereitung so viel ausmacht: kurz recherchieren, lokale Infos nutzen und zur richtigen Zeit am richtigen Ort sein. Besonders bei Walen gilt: ruhig bleiben, Abstand halten, nicht schneiden oder hetzen, den eigenen Einfluss minimieren. Und manchmal kommt das Highlight ganz von selbst, wenn Tiere aus Neugier näherkommen. Von dort geht es weiter zu Robben: oft küstennah, oft bei vorgelagerten Felsen und bei Niedrigwasser gut zu finden, aber auch hier ist Achtsamkeit entscheidend. Dazu kommen Fischotter als „zufällig magische“ Begegnung in manchen Häfen und Buchten. Clemens empfiehlt, vor Ort mit Fachleuten zu sprechen, Infomaterial aus Museen mitzunehmen und generell Wissen griffbereit zu haben. Auch Schnorcheln bekommt Platz: als einfache Möglichkeit, die „zweite Ebene“ der Küste zu entdecken. Mit ein bisschen Technik-Training im Vorfeld wird aus Unsicherheit schnell Neugier. Und weil gutes Beobachten auch gutes Werkzeug braucht, schließt Clemens mit einer Fernglas-Empfehlung: Qualität statt Ramsch, lieber moderater Zoom fürs wackelige Boot, dafür ordentlich Lichtstärke. The 100 feet (l.o.a. 32.3 meter) Neorion is a timeless proven aluminium sailing yacht, built by Bloemsma, after a design by Horst Stichnoth. She has been finished in 2014, under the supervision of Olivier van Meer in the Netherlands. The superstructure and cockpit and many other wooden details on deck has been built in teak by Dörr-Lemmer in unique craftsmanship. The interior woodwork is built in mahagony and she is equipped with airco and heating systems. She offers a spacious and practical lay-out with one full beam owners cabin and two guest cabins all with ensuite bathroom (total of 6 guests). The spacious saloon (next to the galley) offers a nice dining table and separated seating area together with a navigation/working desk. This video focuses on the gunwales, filleting, stitching removal and carbon fiber taping. She will be the tender to Flying Spur soon! I purchased the pre-cut "kit" to save some time, but the same results can be accomplished by purchasing the build instructions and cutting your own marine-grade plywood. This video is for those who are looking to build their own dinghy, and who wish to learn more about the process. This is the second project Brent and I worked on together, the previous being a 7' pram for Brent. Salone Nautico di Cannes 2025: Beneteau Oceanis 52 First Line in anteprima Siamo a Cannes 2025 per scoprire insieme la nuova Oceanis 52 First Line. La prima cosa che colpisce è la spiaggetta di poppa apribile: una soluzione che molti adottano, ma qui è fatta “come si deve”. Risultato? Salita e discesa a bordo più comode, accesso al mare più semplice e una poppa davvero sfruttabile. Pozzetto: comfort per chi timona e per chi vuole solo relax Diciamolo: spesso si va in barca a vela con amici o familiari che vogliono soprattutto rilassarsi. E allora il pozzetto diventa fondamentale. Qui trovi prendisole ampi in pozzetto mentre tu sei al timone: una soluzione perfetta per ospiti poco “velisti” ma super felici di godersi il mare. In più c’è un tavolo multifunzione: allungabile e allargabile quando si mangia insieme, abbassabile per trasformarlo in un grande prendisole, con la possibilità di gestire zone separate a seconda delle esigenze. Postazione di comando: finiture First Line e timoni in carbonio La versione First Line si vede e si sente: ruote del timone in carbonio, look sportivo e dettagli curati. Per la navigazione a motore (trasferimenti e spostamenti), i comandi motore sono sul lato destro: scelta pulita e razionale. Tra le due ruote c’è anche una seduta centrale con frigorifero integrato: comodissimo in navigazione e perfetto in rada (sì, anche per una “birra zero” mentre si timona in serenità). Cabina marinaio a prua: privacy vera, anche per l’equipaggio A prua trovi una cabina separata per il marinaio, completamente indipendente e con toilette dedicata. È una differenza enorme per chi vive la barca davvero: più privacy e organizzazione migliore a bordo. Autonomia e vivibilità: luce, aria e pannelli solari Uno dei punti forti della Beneteau Oceanis 52 è la vivibilità. Il ponte è ricco di prese d’aria e superfici che portano luce naturale dentro la barca. In più ci sono i pannelli solari, utili per aumentare l’autonomia energetica sia in navigazione sia in rada, senza “impazzire” con i consumi. E se vuoi rilassarti davanti? C’è anche un prendisole a prua. Layout 3 cabine e 2 bagni: spazio reale e percezione di spazio Questa barca è configurata 3 cabine e 2 bagni: cabina armatore a prua, due cabine doppie a poppa, bagni comodi e ben accessibili. La cosa che notano tutti in fiera è luce e spazio. Lo spazio è quello di un 52 piedi, certo. Ma la vera differenza la fa la percezione dello spazio: come vengono progettati gli arredi, i volumi e i passaggi. E qui Beneteau (su questo modello) è davvero al top. Dinette e carteggio: comunicazione diretta con chi è al timone In quadrato trovi soluzioni pratiche: un tavolo che si può abbassare per creare un’ulteriore dinette, divano e seduta, zona carteggio con un’idea interessante: la comunicazione con lo skipper/timoniere è più diretta, utile quando si naviga davvero. Cucina “da appartamento”: grande frigo e spazi sfruttati al millimetro Scendendo a sinistra c’è una cucina importante, una vera “signora cucina”, sfruttata al centimetro. Il punto forte? Il frigorifero grande, che rende la vita a bordo molto più semplice, soprattutto in crociera con equipaggio. Cabine ospiti e bagno VIP: doccia separata vera Le cabine ospiti sono speculari e ben ariose, con spazi sfruttati in modo intelligente. Il secondo bagno (ospiti/VIP) è “di tutto rispetto”: doccia separata vera, zona WC distinta, comodità reale per chi resta a bordo più giorni. Cabina armatoriale: bagno diviso in due ambienti e maxi doccia In armatoriale trovi: letto matrimoniale centrale, panche/contenitori comode e capienti, e soprattutto un bagno pensato benissimo: doccia e toilette in due locali separati. A destra, entrando, c’è una doccia enorme con seduta. A sinistra, la toilette con tanto spazio: ogni centimetro è sfruttato al 100%. 🚤 Bisogna essere ricchi per andare in barca? Spesso sento dire: “Per andare in barca ci vogliono i soldi veri.” Ma di che cifre stiamo parlando? Esiste una grande differenza tra uno yacht di lusso e un gommone smontabile con motore fuoribordo. Eppure molte persone fanno confusione e associano automaticamente la nautica alla ricchezza. Negli anni ’80 erano diffusissimi i gommoni da 4 o 4,5 metri, con motori da 25 cavalli. Gommoni smontabili, trasportabili nel bagagliaio dell’auto. Si montavano in mezz’ora e si andava in vacanza con tutta la famiglia. Indovina un po’? Questa possibilità esiste ancora oggi. 💰 Quanto costa davvero andare per mare? Oggi puoi acquistare: Un gommone smontabile nuovo con piccolo motore fuoribordo intorno ai 2.000 – 2.500 euro Usato anche a meno Nessun costo di posto barca Nessun costo di rimessaggio Nessun carrello se lo trasporti in auto Questo significa che puoi fare nautica senza spese fisse importanti. Paragonare chi possiede un piccolo gommone trasportabile a una persona ricca è semplicemente sbagliato. È come dire che per andare in auto devi essere ricco perché esistono Ferrari, Bentley o Rolls Royce. No. Puoi andare su strada anche con una utilitaria usata. La stessa cosa vale per il mare. 🌊 Barca piccola o yacht? Conta l’esperienza Vuoi andare all’isola davanti alla costa? Vuoi esplorare calette lontane dalla spiaggia affollata? Con una barca da 4 o 5 metri puoi farlo. Non serve uno yacht. Non serve il lusso. Serve voglia di fare. Negli anni passati molti padri di famiglia investivano mezz’ora per montare il gommone e regalare una giornata speciale ai figli. Era semplice. Era autentico. Era felicità. Oggi spesso non è un problema di soldi. È un problema di tempo. O di voglia. Nella vita spesso hai due risorse: soldi o tempo. Se non hai i soldi, puoi metterci un po’ di impegno. Ma il mare resta accessibile. ☀️ Il vero messaggio: goditela Il punto non è accontentarsi. Il punto è godersi il momento. Che tu abbia un piccolo gommone, una barca usata o un mezzo nuovo, non importa. Importa vivere il mare con la tua famiglia, con i tuoi amici, con le persone che ami. La maggior parte di noi lavora tra quattro mura. Quando sei in acqua sei all’aperto, ti muovi, scegli tu dove andare. È libertà. We are towed back home after encountering heavy weather near Catalina island and snapping another rudder. We are now out of rudders and need to find a fix before we can sail again.
