Dans la cabine, vous apprécierez l’espace de dégagement obtenu grâce à la disposition du grand lit double sur tribord, qui permet de circuler confortablement (et debout !) dans cette véritable chambre à coucher. Signé par le cabinet Berret/Racoupeau, l’Océanis 36 CC vient compléter la fameuse gamme des “Cockpits Centraux” de Bénéteau, en offrant un confort et une sécurité remarquables pour un voilier de cette catégorie. De la structure aux volumes d’aménagements, du plan de pont au gréement l’Océanis 36 CC a été conçu pour vous offrir le meilleur de la croisière. La coque bénéficie du robuste contremoule structurel Bénéteau qui répartit idéalement les efforts du gréement, tout en assurant une parfaite rigidité et un entretien facile. Sur le pont, confort et sécurité vont de pair. Bien entendu, le cockpit, latté de teck, est particulièrement bien protégé des embruns, et la fameuse “casquette” Bénéteau ou une capote de descente de grandes dimensions sont proposées en option. L'Océanis 36 CC est entièrement ceinturé d’un pavois en teck massif, pour assurer le confort et la sécurité de tous. A l’arrière, 3 coffres de pont vous permettent de ranger haussières, défenses et, bien entendu, les bouteilles de gaz de la cuisine. Sur l’avant, le guindeau est de série, et posé sur le pont pour faciliter les manoeuvres. Le coffre moteur, situé sous le cockpit, parfaitement isolé, permet un accès facile à tous les éléments mécaniques. Côté manoeuvres, la surface de voile est généreuse pour assurer d’excellentes performances. Par temps calme, le puissant moteur diesel (jusqu'à 40cv) vous permettra d’atteindre à temps l’escale de votre choix.

This week, American Sailor co-host Whitney Kent sits down with US Sailing colleague and friend Betsy Alison. Betsy has worked at US Sailing for nearly two decades, currently leading the Adult Sailing department. She is a five time Rolex Yachtswoman of the Year winner and has dominated an array of different boat classes throughout her professional career. Betsy coached the most successful Paralympic sailing team of all time. In an ironic turn of events for the Hall of Fame racer, Betsy became a para athlete in 2022 after a battle with cancer. Shortly after her recovery, she was standing on top of the podium in the Netherlands at the 2023 Sailing World Championships with a gold medal around her neck.

This shows an autopilot that is decoupled from the helm. There is a big advantage to this, in that you can put your hands through the helm wheel, and if the autopilot is turning the boat, the wheel is not turning simultaneously. Thus it does not hurt your hand or cause a safety issue. One thing to be careful of however is that if you forget that the auto pilot is on and you try to turn the helm, the boat will not steer. This could freak you out a little. So just be aware of that when using a decoupled auto pilot.

🌊 Our Atlantic Crossing Begins! 🌊 In the last episode, we prepared everything for the great crossing — and now the moment has finally arrived. The adventure we’ve been working toward for so long is here: crossing the Atlantic Ocean. Nearly 2,800 nautical miles lie ahead of us, from Las Palmas to Saint Lucia. 14–16 days of nothing but blue — where the ocean and the horizon merge into one, and the steady trade winds carry us west. Excitement, joy, and pure adventure all at once. During the crossing, we celebrate Samuel’s 2nd birthday onboard. Who can say they spent their birthday in the middle of the Atlantic? 🎂🌊 We’re moving fast, leaving little time for fishing — but not without some success. Daily squalls become part of life at sea. Tom Thorne from Ancasta Yacht Services talks through the essentials of antifouling and why it is such an important part of boat maintenance. He explains how keeping your hull properly antifouled helps extend the life of your boat, prevents weed growth that can clog bow thrusters, and reduces drag that would otherwise harm fuel efficiency. Tom also covers the key preparation work needed before applying antifoul. From ensuring the hull surface is ready, to wearing the correct protective gear such as overalls, a face mask, goggles and gloves. He highlights the tools required, including a sander, hoover and grip disc, and the importance of taping waterlines, shafts, engines and skin fittings. The video explores the different types of antifoul, noting that motorboats typically use harder formulations than sailing boats, and why applying two coats is generally recommended.
