Experiencing rituals in other countries: I love it! We filmed the Greek Orthodox holiday of Epiphany on January 6th with the ritual called the “blessing of the waters”. ⭐ The Greek Orthodox priest blesses a cross and throws it into the water of the harbor. This symbolizes the baptism of Jesus in the Jordan by John the Baptist. ⭐ Young men (and in some areas women) dive into the water to retrieve the cross. It is considered a great honor and blessing for the person who brings the cross back to the priest. ⭐ Before the ceremony there is a church service and after the ceremony there is a party, music, and traditional meals. Flares with colored smoke are set off on the water We were moored with the catamaran at the quay of this harbor, which was full of people, and 30 meters in front of us the ritual took place! So we had a front row seat and filmed everything with our drone. Epiphany literally means "appearance" or "manifestation" and marks the end of the Christmas season and symbolizes the renewed blessing of nature, water, and community.

I call anything O make with the leftovers from private dinners a goulash. I hate waste. So when there is food left over I try to first leave it with the clients. Then whatever is left over from prep I make into stocks or other dishes. Originally the other video was pretty cut up. I just added some features, did some color correction, some titles. In future videos I think I will combine the sail to location, cooking, and then the sail home in one video. Maybe do some short videos in the interim. The videos take awhile to make. I love Greenport NY. Townsends is one of the old school marinas out there and I try to give them my business. You can walk right into town from there and Bella loves the people that visit. We nearly got hit by lightning and a tornado on the lake this episode! The storm passed by just north of us on Lewisville Lake, TX. We can't move our sailboat (1983 Catalina 30 Tall rig), because were tied down in the mooring slip at the marina. Argh! Key Moments in the video: 1. In this episode, we braved rolling thunderstorms, cast our lines in the rain, and watched nature put on an incredible lightning show over the lake. Stick around—this one’s got it all. 2. The day started peacefully. The lake was glassy and still—almost too still. Off in the distance, dark clouds crept in from the west, a quiet warning of what was to come. Rain came and went in soft bursts, but by late afternoon, the atmosphere had changed. The wind picked up, and the skies grew heavy. We could feel the storm building around us. One of our favorite things is watching the rain dance on the lake’s surface. There’s something mesmerizing about those tiny ripples in the stillness. 3. We set out our fishing lines, hopeful that the weather wouldn’t scare off dinner. Rain or not, we were determined to catch something. 4. While I prepped dinner down below, the skies prepared something of their own: a light show we won’t soon forget. As night fell, flashes of blue and purple lit up the clouds, turning the horizon into a flickering silhouette. Thunder rolled in the distance—not threatening, but powerful and strangely soothing. We were lucky the main storm tracked just north of us. Had it shifted, we’d have battened down the hatches and ridden it out below deck. But instead, we had front-row seats. We kept a close eye on the radar. The weather service issued a warning: winds up to 55 miles per hour, half-inch hail, and a tornado watch until 10 p.m. We were ready to react, but for now, we just watched. 5. The lightning intensified, each strike brighter than the last. And just as the storm put on its show, we sat down for dinner—still waiting on that fish. Rain or shine, we weren’t giving up. We were going to fish until the last light faded or the storm made us stop—whichever came first. 6. Some days on the water are calm, others are electric. This one had a little bit of both. Un deuxième modèle - présenté à l'International Multihull Show - était décliné en version Flybridge et voilà qu'une troisième déclinaison Sedan nous est proposée ; cette dernière, que nous avons pu découvrir en Corse, présente des aménagements plus complets que ceux du 38SC avec une grand cuisine intérieure en L, un vaste carré en face et une deuxième table avec ses assises à l'extérieur. Les cabines restent identiques (on peut d'ailleurs en commander 2 ou 3, au choix). Si une quatrième version Sport complètement ouverte est également en préparation, le constructeur mise sur la déclinaison Sedan comme étant la plus attractive - selon nous, c'est à l'évidence la configuration la plus polyvalente des quatre puisqu'elle autorise un usage de weekender, mais également de croiseir côtier. L'Aventura 38 s’affiche donc comme une plate-forme modulable. Dans tous les cas, le cockpit est pourvu d’une grande plate-forme arrière et de pavois ajustables façon beach club. We made it to the U.S. Virgin Islands, just in time for Easter! Our first stop — St. Thomas, where the marina hosted a sweet little Easter celebration for the kids. After meeting the Easter Bunny and grabbing some treats, we rode the gondola up the mountain for lunch with friends and some epic views of the harbor — we could even spot SeaDog and Optimist Creed down below! Twelve years ago, we took this same gondola and had lunch at the same restaurant… never imagining that one day, our very own boat would be anchored in that very harbor. Life really does come full circle. After a cozy Easter morning (and a visit from the Easter Bunny ), we moved over to Water Island near Honeymoon Bay, where we enjoyed stunning sunsets, great food, and some time with our buddy boat OC. The kids had a blast playing with little Gregory — they’re basically the Three Musketeers now! Then came a very special arrival — our close friend Jake joined us! As soon as he stepped aboard, we set sail for the iconic Christmas Cove, home to the famous Pizza Pi floating restaurant. Epic pizza + island views = perfection. Next stop: St. John! We spent a few days in Maho Bay, hiking to the Annaberg Sugar Mill Ruins, learning about the island’s deep history, and exploring ancient Taino petroglyphs carved over a thousand years ago. To touch such ancient art was truly humbling. Our adventures took us through hidden beaches, secret anchorages, and a few “oops” moments (let’s just say… the most expensive morning ever ). As our week came to a close, we said goodbye to Jake and also to Ana, our oldest daughter and best first mate. She’s been such a huge part of our journey — from baking muffins to helping with the kids — and while it’s hard to let her go, we’re so proud of her for starting her next adventure.
