At our first stop in Alor, you will no doubt be blown away by the sheer beauty of the marine life and reefscapes just beneath the surface. There is also the possibility of coming across a couple of the ocean's most iconic inhabitants, like a superpod of dolphins and melon head whales, giant ocean sunfish, and even blue whales as we move from site to site. Here in Alor we base ourselves in the secluded resort called Alami Alor, where we will be the only guests and will have exclusive access to their house reefs and embark on snorkeling excursions multiple times a day. We'll then move over to the north of Sulawesi where we'll be based in the award-winning Siladen Resort. From this tiny tropical island, we'll explore the best snorkeling sites in one of Indonesia's oldest marine protected areas, Bunaken National Park. From the comfort of a lovely island resort,  we’ll be able to explore all the area’s best reefs with ease. Bunaken is famous for a lot of things, but it’s most known for its massive turtle population. As we explore the shallow coral plateaus that extend from the different islands we are sure to see multiple turtles as they come to the surface for a quick breath or just cruise over the reefs. The final leg of this amazing tour will be spent in Raja Ampat, at the wonderful Papua Explorers resort, located in the heart of the Raja Ampat archipelago. Within just a few minutes of the resort, there is a huge variety of snorkeling sites that play host to some of the most diverse marine habitats found anywhere on the planet. Expect truly pristine coral gardens packed with hard and soft corals that carpet the island slopes all the way up to the surface. Masses of fish life explode from the reefs, with good chances of swimming next to bigger fish such as manta rays, reef sharks, and schools of barracuda and jacks.

An der Nordwestküste von Mallorca liegt eine der schönsten Buchten, in welche der Fluss «Torrent de Pareis» im Laufe der Jahrtausende eine tiefe Schneise in die hohen Felswände geschnitten hat. Der Fluss trocknet im Sommer vollständig aus und lässt einen kleinen Sandstrand mit einer Länge von fünfzig Metern zurück. Gefährlich wird er aber, wenn heftige Regenfälle ihn anschwellen lassen. Ein paar Monate nach meinem Besuch ertrinken zwei Frauen, die auf einer Wanderung davon überrascht werden. Bei der Einfahrt in die Bucht findet sich rechts ein Restaurant mit kleiner Hotelanlage. Ein Wanderweg führt ebenfalls hierher, der aber kurz vor Erreichen des Strandes abbricht. Von Land aus ist dieser schöne Ort über eine abenteuerliche Serpentinenstraße mit einer 270 Grad Haarnadelkurve erreichbar, für deren Bau im Jahre 1931 einunddreißigtausend Kubikmeter Fels überwiegend von Hand abgetragen werden musste. Mehr als dreihundert Tier- und Pflanzenarten gibt es hier, weshalb die Bucht von der Regierung der Balearen zum Naturdenkmal erklärt wurde. Hier liegt man nahe dem Badestrand gut vor Anker. Abends, wenn die Tagestouristen sich auf den Heimweg machen, wird es ruhig. Dann hört man das Meckern von Ziegen, die irgendwo herumstreunen und den Gesang der Vögel.
