Tip turn on the subtitles we do speak Swedish sometimes in the video. The sailing in our home water the Baltic Sea is part of our preparation to sail to the Mediterranean Sea. Anders has been at the sea most of his life and sailed for the Swedish national dingy sailing team as a young man. Gitte has also grown up with boat and spent every summer sailing with her father as a teenager but made a pause of about 15 years without sailing as an adult, had just begun to pick-up the interest before she meet Anders a 4 years ago. Onboard we also have our cat Litza a 3 year old Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans. Litza is a Devon Rex cat and she is the real cattain aboard. Fridá af Wisby is a Wauquiez 47 pilot saloon that we Gitte and Anders bought in UK in 2019 and that we have sailed to Gotland and in season 1 2020 we sail in the Baltic Sea. Autumn 2020 we sailed from Gotland to Dieppe and Spring 2021 we continue south towards the Mediterranean Sea.

In this video, we continue our passage from Tahiti to Fiji. We fly the lightweight asymmetrical spinnaker sail. We catch a beautiful mahi mahi almost losing the reel in the process. The weather stays mostly agreeable for the rest of the passage and we get some cellular signal off of Tonga on the way by. Finally, we arrive in Savusavu Bay in Fiji and get a great escort and welcome from the Fiji Navy, who bring us fruit, beer, and pizza while we wait in the quarantine anchorage for the results of our COVID tests. Finally we get off the boat and clear arrival customs and biosecurity before getting our Blue Lane flag and cruising permit, in preparation for onward travels. Thanks for following! Episode 035 One of the best things about sailing is you can be as sociable as you like. Whether you choose to stay in a secluded anchorage to yourself or hang out with friends and other sailors, sailboats give you the freedom to choose. When our friends told us they were sailing up to the Bay of Islands, Adam had the key in Tāiko's ignition before I had finished my sentence - it didn't matter that we were in the middle of our cockpit floor renovation. As we currently work to a four week provisioning schedule on Tāiko, we were ready to go. Soon the sails were up and we were on our way to see another beautiful bay. By living a more minimalistic and sustainable lifestyle, she has provided us with a better work/life balance and has taught us to live and be present more in the moment. Tāiko has also taught us to be more independent and less reliant on services. Some of these experiences have taken us out of our comfort zone many times but as the saying goes, ‘a comfort zone is a wonderful place but nothing grows there’. Our plan is to do blue water cruising. So, over the next year we will be completing some maintenance work on Tāiko and be getting her ready to meet New Zealand’s category 1 requirements to be able to go offshore.
