Feed your crew from the Sea! While sailing around the islands, it’s fairly common to meet other cruisers who source fresh fish & spiny lobster for themselves off shallow reefs. Captain Jeff explains how he got into spear fishing during his travels in the Bahamas. Using a pole-spear for lobster diving is one of our favorite methods that makes for a delicious dinner and stretches the boats provisioning. Always ensure you check regulations for fishing limits, gear restrictions, and safety requirements before heading out.

Can't believe we are back on the boat! We were excited to get back sailing but soon realised that was not the best option. LIA was in a bad shape when we got back, so many issues! 😑 After we got back to the boat we spent some time there trying to get our boat fixed. So we hung out with friends, did shopping, went to church. There wasn't enough time to get everything done and we started to make our way a little south. On top of everything the weather was the worst too 😅. What a messy week. Well... I'm sure we will figure everything out. We're happy to be back! After settling into Great Inagua, we expected a quiet reset. Instead, we found ourselves pushed off a reef by the most aggressive Great Barracuda we’ve ever encountered. In this episode of Sailing Dark Angel we settle into Mathew Town, Great Inagua, head ashore for provisions and check on fuel and parts, then debate whether to leave unprepared or stay without shelter. Dolphins visit before we snorkel the reef and are pushed off by the most aggressive Great Barracuda we’ve ever encountered. Great Inagua is remote, exposed, and beautiful, but snorkeling a Bahamian reef doesn’t always go the way you expect. This was our most intense barracuda encounter to date, and it left us questioning what we could have done differently. Was swimming away the wrong move? Autodidatta per forza di cose ha imparato la vela da solo, trasformando la sua passione in impegno concreto attraverso studio e determinazione imparando a comprendere il vento onnipresente nella sua isola. Poi le regate lungo l' Oceano, una conquista dopo l'altra. La sua vocazione è la navigazione in solitario, quella che gli è più congeniale per la quale sente di avere una predisposizione fisica e mentale. We "sailed" out to the fuel dock with the intent that after fueling we would decide whether or not we wanted to sail to Catalina Island. After taking on diesel, we decided it was too late to sail all the way to the island and get there late, so we opted to sail to the anchorage about 10 minutes away. It ended up being a good decision and a great evening. The next morning we... From a joyful racing-cruising event, the Tour de France à la Voile turned into a great offshore sailing school for many young and talented sailors, and then a high-level competition with great champions taking part.
