For one week we sailed to the lovely island of Kekova (Turkey). The sunken city with it's beautiful bays and protected anchor spots is a paradise for sailors. As long as a mega yacht with helicopter shows up beside you. Honestly, we are not jealous :) If so, maybe because of the sailing boat which was parked on the deck beside the helicopter. I promise, we don't make fun on them. Für eine Woche sind wir nach Kekova gesegelt. Die versunkene Stadt mit ihren wundervollen Buchten und geschützten Ankerplätzen ist ein Paradies für Segler. Zumindest solange, bis eine Megayacht samt Helikopter neben dir auftaucht. Ehrlich, wir sind kein Stück neidisch. :) Und wenn, dann auf das Segelboot, das neben dem Heli auch noch auf dem Deck steht. Und wir machen uns auch bestimmt nicht lustig über den Pott. Und dann ist da noch der US-Sänger Gregory Porter, der neidisch auf Bordhund Cingene ist.

Поскольку мы стоим уже больше месяца на якоре у острова Лансероте, то решили изучить остров получше. В этот раз отправились на семейную пешую прогулку на вулканы Кальдерета и Кальдера Бланка. Безумно красивые пейзажи и в принципе не так уж тяжело. Однако мы были в шоке от Буськи. Для взрослого пройти 14 км по камням, а потом еще залезть почти на пятьсот метров на вершину горы, относительно несложно. А вот шестилетней девочке подняться пешком на высоту 150-го этажа и еще полдороги тащить на себе собаку. Да еще и ни разу не поныть. Мы не ожидали. :) Вулканы находятся недалеко от знаменитого парка Тимонфай. Это самый юный на Лансероте вулкан. Он извергался в течении шести лет менее трехсот лет назад. И до сих пор остается тлеющим. Во время извержения огромная территория острова была залита раскаленной лавой. Вся поверхность острова ходила ходуном и поднималась волнами. Словно при ледоходе на Неве. Верхняя корочка лавы, остывая тут же ломалась. Слои громоздились на слои. В результате образовалась небольшая копия ада, при взгляде на которую охватывает ужасающий восторг. Однако те вулканы, на которые мы шли, возникли немного раньше. Им чуть меньше, чем по два миллиона лет. Наступавшая лава из Тимонфая не смогла одолеть силу более старших и опытных вулканов. Поэтому они гордо возвышаются над бесконечным лавовым полем. Интересно, что уже в наше время, с начала и до середины 20-го века в кратере меньшего вулкана люди выращивали пшеницу и держали скот. В общем, прогулка получилась изумительной. И бутерброды на пикнике на вершине горы были одними из самых вкусных в жизни. :) Видео, конечно, не может в полной мере передать всей красоты этого уникального места, но не показать его я не могу. Мы шли где то 11 км по лавовому полю и потом поднялись до верхней точки вулкана на отметке 458 метров, пройдя еще пару километров по краю кратера. Из наших ошибок, это то, что Хыку пришлось по лаве тащить на руках (по вулкану она уже лазила сама) и у меня были кроссовки с тонкой подошвой - острые камни неприятно ощущались. Ну и зря не взяли с собой бутылочку мальвазии и штопор. Отхлебнуть из голышка отличной мальвазии, стоя на вершине Сонте Бланко и ощутить себя повелителем мира!

Une super partie golf avec Henry et Pierre, lors d'une rencontre amicale du groupe BPG - Bordeaux et Passion du Golf. Merci beaucoup pour cette partie. L'ambiance était top : nous nous sommes bien amusés et malgré les conditions parfois compliquées, nous avons essayé de jouer notre meilleur golf. Merci mille fois à l'équipe du golf de Biscarosse. Un accueil toujours chaleureux, des fairways parfaits, des greens superbes ... merci merci et merci encore ! Bien sûr, immense merci à Olivier, pour sa gentillesse et sa belle organisation de cette rencontre amicale (espérons que nous pourrons bientôt nous rencontrer pour de vrai, sans distance de sécurité et départs à la sauvette sur des parkings déserts). Sailing into Portsmouth Harbour in very heavy rain. We then had a lift out, scrub and antifoul at the SeaLift dry dock facility in Haslar Marina. We got back in the water and moored safely just in time as the wind got up and we were stuck for the day, so we changed the fuel filters on the engine. This was a big week onboard Intention. We left the marina, and for the first time, WE DIDN'T COME BACK!! Well... not right away, at least. We took Intention out with a friend on Sunday and anchored for the first time off Portland Island. Then, just two days later, we went out AGAIN, this time to anchor in Cadboro Bay - OVERNIGHT! It's been a great week, and even though we didn't actually *sail* very much, we got a little tiny taste of what it will be like when we leave the marina for good. Spoiler alert: We REALLY liked that taste!

Changing a propshaft anode. Not the most difficult job, but with 6 parts ( 2nut, 2 bolts, 2 anode halves) its a handful to try and not drop whilst holding your breath. This little tip should make it a little easier. Noting our original anode had fizzled itself away, the time came to do a quick change to the new one and Karli was right there with a camera to record something I otherwise would not have recorded, a small tip on making changing the anode easier without any dive gear or lifting out. My supervisor is watching me. It turns me on and is hard to keep my manhood from responding. I love peeling tape off of a newly painted surface. Forever working on Isabella. It's satisfying but a little too much sometimes. Watching Karen polish the stainless steel is certainly fun for me and she enjoys how it shines afterwards. LED lights last a long time but also fail prematurely. Replacing with a WaveOne multi-color light certainly brightens up the salon. More maintenance. We're trying to trace down a very subtle leak. We know there is one because our accumulator is working properly and our water pump comes on to refill it even when a faucet is not being used. What is an accumulator? Fresh water systems on a boat include a holding tank, a water pump, and a device to reduce the amount of time the pump runs when using water. This is the job of an accumulator. Ours is a 2 gallon tank with a pressurized diaphragm. This enables the ability to turn on a faucet without the pump running every time. We certainly need a better storage system for pots and pans. Digging out our wok takes a bit of time but the stir fry we make with it is worth the effort. Thanks for subscribing! How did two people in their 20s afford to buy a sailboat and sail around the world? In this episode of Stella Overboard, we finally sit down and share the full story of how we went from living in a beat-up van in Australia to buying a 39ft sailboat and sailing across Southeast Asia full-time. A few years ago we had almost no money, no house, no savings, and honestly no idea what our future looked like. After meeting in Byron Bay, Australia, we spent months living out of our van, traveling the coast, surfing, fishing, and trying to figure out how we could create a completely different life for ourselves. That’s when we made the decision to work FIFO mining jobs in remote Western Australia. FIFO (Fly-In Fly-Out) work meant living for weeks at a time in isolated mining camps deep in the Australian outback, working exhausting 12-hour shifts in extreme heat, dirt, iron ore dust, and nonstop routines. It was physically and mentally draining, but it gave us one opportunity we never thought we’d have — the ability to save serious money quickly. For nearly two years we sacrificed comfort, freedom, time together, and pretty much everything normal people in their 20s were doing… all with one goal: Buy a sailboat and escape the traditional path. While many people around us were buying houses, financing cars, and settling into city life, we took a completely different route and invested everything into a life of adventure, freedom, travel, sailing, surfing, and living off-grid on the ocean.
