Join the adventurous crew on this 2 weeks adventure, dodge gale after gale along the Irish Atlantic west coast aka The wild Atlantic way. Starting from Galway, the crew sailed Saga, a classic Swan47, overnight to Blacksod Bay. The crew sheltered two days at Blacksod, - the local fishermen were taking good care of us, making sure that we had supplies. We had winds in excess of 50 kts. After Blacksod, we head further north across Donegal bay, to Melmore Head, where we again had to shelter for 2 nights due to Gale for e 9 winds. From Melmore Head it was a fast sail up to Portrush before Ireland was hit by another gale, this time from the south. After two day of exploring the country side around the Giant’s causeway and the coastal causeway trial, the crew set sail for Ballycastle and onwards around the Mull of Kintyre. Back in the Clyde we stopped at Campbellltown Loch and Tarbert marina, before reaching our final destination Largs yacht Haven. What an adventure: 360 nm, 14 days and 4 gales. We loved it so much, that we are going back for a full spring season to explore the many Loch and little villages along the west of Ireland. #sailireland #adventure #gale #heavyweather #offshoresailing #wild #atlanticocean #wildatlanticway #sailing #dingle #galway #exploremore #swan47

The Long Beach 2025 Two Gates Pursuit Race is a three race sailboat series sponsored by the Long Beach Yacht Club. In this episode of Sailing with Scott, we're aboard a 2003 Farr 40 named Rode Rage, owned and skippered by Peter Cochran. The Two Gates Pursuit Race starts inside the Port of Long Beach, exiting Queens Gate and into the Pacific Ocean. It then continues up the Middle Breakwater to Angles Gate and enters the Port of Los Angeles. With spinnakers flying, boats head down the harbor and back out into the Pacific through Queens Gate, down towards the Alamitos Bay Inlet and then to the finish line. The races start and finish is in the vicinity of Mark 38 in Long Beach Harbor. Rode Rage finishes strong with a good crew, and enjoyed an extraordinary day of sailing off the shores of Southern California. Howdy folks! Welcome back to Nomad Boat Building. In Episode 2 of the Poulsbo Boat Project, I spend the week preparing materials and fabricating a few laminated bits. This stage of boatbuilding may not be the most glamorous, but it’s one of the most important. A huge portion of the time is spent sorting lumber, milling stock to thickness, and preparing parts before assembly can even begin. In this episode you’ll see: • Processing lumber and selecting materials for the build • Milling boards to thickness and preparing stock • Ripping western red cedar strips for strip-built planking • Laminating the stem and transom knee • Fixing springback in a laminated stem • Laminating a cutwater (outer stem) • Tips for clamps, laminations, and shop workflow The Poulsbo Boat will be strip-built with western red cedar planking, which allows for a lightweight and stable hull once fiberglassed. I also explain why I’m skipping the traditional bead-and-cove process for these planks and how I plan to align them during installation. Boatbuilding is often about problem solving, and when the laminated stem sprung back more than expected, I show how to correct it and bring it back to the proper lines. If you enjoy woodworking, traditional craftsmanship, wooden boats, or boatbuilding techniques, this series follows the entire build from lofting to launch. 👍 If you enjoy the videos, please like, subscribe, and consider supporting the channel. Yea! In the last episode we left a stubborn pin and bolt on the Meissner winch soaking. The pin prevented the removal of a bolt which held in some of the gears. After three days of soaking in PB Blaster, using needle nose pliers and a lot of patience, it finally came loose. Steve used some Super Lube on the gears and now that winch grinds much easier and smoother. Time to celebrate by taking Isabella out for a little spin. It always takes a bit of preparation, checking to make sure instruments are working and securing items down below before heading out on the water. Although it was a short trip, we still had time to do cockpit dancing. Fun time was extended by a walk on the beach. Wonderfully warm water and maybe next time Karen will go swimming. The day ended with a wonderful Zesty Italian shrimp salad. Fresh ingredients included thinly sliced red and green bell peppers, sweet onion, parsley, canned mushrooms, capers and of course cooked and chilled shrimp. All this was mixed with Zesty Italian salad dressing and refrigerated for about three hours. It makes a great meal on a hot summer day. Give it a try, we think you’ll enjoy all the flavors. We hope all our subscribers are doing well and thank them for their continued support. Love that you have had a glimpse into our lives on Isabella. This is a video from my book 'Stress-Free Motorboating', sister book to Stress-Free Sailing. SFM will be published on 23rd March 2017 and is available from Amazon. There are 23 videos in the book. I'll show you how to make a single engined boat with a bow thruster go sideways - we can always make twin engines boats with bow thrusters go sieways quite easily. I will show you how to get off the dock and how to get back on again, all managed from onboard. And of course how to get man back onbard if they have fallen in the drink. With a Lifesaver they have their means of retrieval back on board stowed in their lifejacket. Check out www.moblifesavers.com
