OUR NEW SAIL! Australia is awesome but lets get back to Marley & Nandji! https://www.sailingnandji.com/ In this episode of Sailing Nandji, we have been road tripping across South Australia visiting family and friends. We drive thousands of kilometres to see as many people as we can. Australia is a big country and our families are spread acorss the nation. After cruising around South Oz, we jump on a plane to Queensland and re visit our old stomping ground on the Sunshine coast. We visit Aaron from Kore sails and collect our new A-symmetrical sail. This is better than any Christmas present! Unfortunately during our time hoe, the country was devastated with bush fires and rather than doing nothing we decide we want to help by raising money and buying food to go direct to a community hard hit at the time. Our time in Aussie land comes to end and before we know it, we are back in Thailand on our way to the doggy resort to collect the Whippet. It was weird not having Marley by our side, but it was great to pick him up again and take him home to Nandji. Australia is great but it is nice to be home on Nandji. With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off from Australia sailing to the Pacific! We have since cruised through New Caledonia, Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and then onto the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the years to come. With a new engine, we continued onto Thailand, then back down into Indonesia and specifically West Sumatra to live the island life and chase the surf. With our Sailing plans changing, we have returned to Thailand to wait for the weather and begin our journey to the northern route of the Indian Ocean to Sri Lanka before heading south to Chagos and across the Indian Ocean once cyclone season has finished and the trade winds begin! The adventure is just beginning as we plan to sail our Nandji girl around the world!! We departed the east coast of Australia in July 2017 and have since sailed over 10000nm offshore. We have explored some amazing countries and met some beautiful people along the way. We have experienced so many different and diverse cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our lives doing it! The adventure is just beginning as we sail West with the trades around the World! The Palm Beach 70 is an elegant and stylish performance cruiser. With a pair of 1000-hp Volvo Penta D13s, she tops out at just over 31 knots and her handling is on par with the best we’ve tested. She’s ideal for both day trips with her ease of use, and as an overnighter, she’s well suiting with four ensuite staterooms. Is the Centerboard on our sailboat a PROBLEM? | Episode 180 When we first bought Saoirse, we had no idea why there was a large pulley sitting on the counter. Low and behold we found out it was for our centerboard. We did a little bit of maintenance to it before we set off on our adventure. But since we’ve had leaking issues at the pin, we want to drop it and inspect for any damage or other leak points. It also needs a fresh coat of paint. After a single night in Tonga, we depart yet again for one of the roughest parts of the Pacific Ocean - sailing to New Zealand. What's to worry about? We just have a Cyclone to our North and a Trough to our South. I'm sure nothing will break and everyone will be happy. Right?! Welcome to New Zealand Archer! This video was shot before Covid. We are POSTING LIVE UPDATES ON SOCIAL: https://www.the-sailing-family.com/ https://www.instagram.com/the_sailing_family/ https://www.facebook.com/the-sailing-family-voyage/ MUSIC: Theme song by NZ based Dyalla Swain http://soundcloud.com/dyallas All other musics from www.EpidemicSound.com ----------------- ABOUT US: We are a family of five sailing around the world on our "dream boat," a performance catamaran named "Archer." Ten years ago B.K. ("before kids"), we sailed a Lagoon 380 named "Honeymoon" halfway around the world to Sydney, Australia. Along the way we shared our experiences via YouTube and, by happenstance, created one of the first "sailing channels." We also realized what an incredible experience we were having and that someday we wanted to do it again, only this time with kids. OUR ROUTE has taken us from the Boston/Cape Cod area of the United States down to the Caribbean and through the Panama Canal. We have dealt with massive repairs in the South Pacific, the Coronavirus lock down in New Zealand, a Category 5 Cyclone in Fiji, and now we are cruising in Covid Free Australia. Videos for all of this to come! FAQ: More questions? What Cameras do we use? What's our budget? Check out our Frequently Asked Questions page on our website at: https://www.the-sailing-family.com/faq PLEASE COMMENT!: As a "family channel," we are required by Google to actively monitor all comments, but we still want to hear from you. Tell us what you think! THANKS for watching all. Subscribe and never miss an episode!

Instagram https://www.instagram.com/adventuresofanoldseadog/ Twitter X https://twitter.com/barryperrins Thanks so much for your support, The adventure continues. Safe sailing. Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Canon R50 with a Rode External mic with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Back up is a Canon 200d. Action, underwater scenes and small blogging is done with two Osmo action cams. Some boat shots are done with a Dji gimbal camera. I also use an Insta 360 and have two drones, a Magic mini2 and Mavic pro Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘bland and mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have completely no communications with the outside World. Being in Hawaii and all we figured it would be a good place to try out surfing for the first time. It was hard to say the least! We also explore the island Oahu and go hiking, visit the famous North Shore and Pearl Harbor. We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved aboard our sailboat RAN, a custom built Beason 40 in aluminium, untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter and started to sail south along the coast of Europe. There is no set route and we will go where the wind and our minds take us. Steve and Robin moved on from Gloucester and made their way to Portland, Maine. While Robin was away for a few days to lead her company’s retreat, Steve and Noah moved Arabella north for a 2-day trip to Cape Porpoise and southern Maine. On the 2nd day of sailing, the wind was not in their favor, and they had to motor the whole way. However, it was really nice waking up to a quiet, beautiful day in Maine. Steve and Akiva enjoyed a few days in the harbor before Robin returned, and they all decided to extend their stay in the area. Until recently, it had been quite a task getting Victoria on deck. Now with a refined system, Steve no longer needs to worry about hurting his back. After running through the checklist—fire up the systems, check engine oil, fire up the diesel, and pull the anchor—it was time to get out of dodge. Along the way, Steve got news that his mom had been taken to the ER, so their stop in Portland would just be an overnight trip. The plan was to head deeper into Casco Bay to a mooring in Freeport where Arabella could stay while Steve and Robin returned to western MA. When leaving the harbor the following morning, they spotted a NOAA science vessel towing a dead humpback whale that unfortunately became tangled in fishing nets and drowned. And to end this week’s video, Steve provided a tutorial on how to use a trucker’s hitch. -------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella started as a wooden boat building project in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve began the journey as an amateur wooden boat builder crafting a 38' wooden sailboat in his backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and now sailing the boat—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that traditional wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project continues beyond the boat shop, as Steve and crew travel and learn to cruise aboard the handmade wooden boat that they've built. Just kidding about all that, this channel is about a Siberian Laika named Akiva. -------------------------- If you are interested in supporting/helping here are a few ways: https://www.acorntoarabella.com/how-to-help Acorn to Arabella's wishlist: https://www.acorntoarabella.com/wishlistpriority TotalBoat supports A2A!

This video is the first in a multi-part sailing/cruising review of the Seawind 1160 Lite. We had the opportunity to cruise aboard a Seawind 1160 Lite for three days alone to really get a feel for if this boat will be right for us. We vlogged about our trip and we'll be sharing what our thoughts are about the boat as much as possible. We're seriously considering the Seawind 1160 Lite for our next boat because of the long list of positives this catamaran has to offer. Here's just a few of the most important ones to us: Size - We don't want a huge cat. Seaworthiness - Plenty of Seawinds have circumnavigated. Performance - The Seawind 1160 lite is designed to sail well first and foremost. Livability - She's got a lot of accommodation and room for a 38' boat. Price point - At a $310,000 base price for a new boat, the Seawind 1160 lite is the most affordable performance cruising catamaran in existence. All of that combined with the fact that we can set one up with electric outboards, daggerboards, and lifting rudders means we think that the Seawind 1160 Lite might be the best boat possible for our budget and lifestyle. What do you think? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Base price for a Seawind 1160 Lite: $310,000 Check out Sail Away Key West (Tell them you found out about them from us!): https://www.sailawaykeywest.com/ Seawind Cats: https://www.seawindcats.com/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Make sure you make an informed decision on your next boat with this tool: http://sailingsoulianis.com/shop/ltl-boat-buying-dashboard/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Not-A-Broker Consulting: https://www.patreon.com/notabrokerconsulting Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/learningthelines/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/learningthelines/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Learning the Lines is a channel about us, an average couple in our 20's, with big dreams to be sailing the world by the time we're in our 30's. We're not afraid to jump into anything, put in the work, and learn as we go. For this reason our channel is very DIY focused, with the goal to show anyone watching that a lot is possible if you're not afraid to make some mistakes along the way. Click here... http://www.patreon.com/Nandji In this episode of Sailing Nandji, it is finally time to go chasing some waves. We set out on an adventure north from Noumea and surf some of the passes in the reef. Out of respect to the local surfers, we can not tell you exactly where we were though! Also we want to go come back one day and surf with noone once again! We have some strong winds and some exciting sails as we fly up the coast in search of waves. There is some surfing action from a couple of spots however we were asked politely not to film the wave and put it all over the net, so only a few waves were captured. Whilst on our trip, Bonita came face to face and a little close for comfort with Sea snake! She captured the encounter on camera which is very brave and a little closer then we would have liked considering we were in the middle of no where! I believe this is a design that will appeal to Aussies and Americans who love their beach days and sand bar access. By utilizing the full beam but designing it in a way that the boat is still manageable short handed this Schaefer 375 provides you with an epic amount of entertaining space but also overnighting facilities for a family of 4. If you want to focus on long days in the sun with groups of well over 8 people then this is a very functional design that gets you to the anchorage fast and over delivers on features when you get there. Available with either inboard or outboard power and some variation on the cockpit layout this is a boat that will extend your season and act as a perfect stepping stone before moving into something like a flybridge motor yacht. The Ovni 450 is a true bluewater cruiser. The aluminium hull makes it a reliable cruising yacht and the centerboard allows access to shallow bays and small harbours. It might not be the fastest boat, but Ovni is a very popular brand in the yachting community.

So, we created "Odd Life Crafting", a project composed of many smaller projects that we call seasons. The first one was the creation of Odd Life Crafting. The idea was to build a metal boat to be able to travel the world taking our house with us, but we didn't have money for that. So, we started the next season: we built a tiny shipping container house with no prior experience in building to gain some skills to build a boat. When we were almost finished we found a boat 700km away from our hometown that was neglected for over 22 years and we spent 2 years refitting her (Season 3). On the season 4 we sailed for 2 years (exploring the Brazilian coast and part of the Caribbean), we sold our boat and we moved to Europe. The last season we are starting to build a new aluminum 43ft sailboat and a new life. We hope to inspire others to follow their dreams. This Pershing really is like no other. Understanding the need to come out with different models Pershing release the GTX range, starting with the 116. This has more volume than the average Pershing, but still keeps their legendary performance. The shipyard call it a "Sports Utility Yacht"!

I'm building a Chameleon sailing dinghy. It's a sprit rig pram made of plywood and epoxy that will sail, motor, row, and nest. During our last trip to the Bahamas I saw a few rigid dinghies that had small sailing rigs that were cruising around the anchorages. They intrigued me. It looked so cool to see them casually sailing around, and I wanted to a part of that. For one thing, I'm always draw to things that interest the few. Inflatable dinghies outnumber rigid ones by a factor of 50:1, so naturally I was interested in the rare rigid ones. I tend to go the opposite way of the crowd, and my newfound interest in rigid dinghies is a symptom of that mindset. Also, I'm always drawn to simplicity when it comes to cruising. Less things to break means more time to enjoy traveling instead of continually being forced to maintain complex "stuff" that are supposed to be making your life easier. It doesn't get much simpler than a good rigid dink - as far as dinghies go, anyways. So yeah - that's pretty much why I decided to build one. Lastly, this project has been kinda therapeutic for me. It's kept me connected to the sailing lifestyle even though we've been stuck on land for the last few months while dealing with the sale our house. I hope you enjoy this video series that will cover the construction of our Chameleon sailing dinghy from beginning to end. Thanks for watching!! Sailboat shopping? Want to get the best bang for your buck on a cruising sailboat in 2025? The Catalina 380 was all the rage in cheap sailboats but, they're hard to find now. The Beneteau uses glued in keel matrix strigners that can lead to keel failure. The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 37 doesn't have the island bed aft cabin master stateroom thsat the Catalina has but, has more cockpit storage and is easier to find. It uses a sail drive and Volvo and Yanmar engines. #cruisingsailboat #sailing #sailboat #sailboating #sailboatlife #cheapsailboat Want to help support Lady K Sailing? Why are leaving the things you love so damn hard? https://www.sailingnandji.com/ In this episode of Sailing Nandji, it is nearly Christmas time and for the first time since leaving Australia in July 2017 we have the opportunity to go home and see friends and family. Yosh has not been back to Oz in over 2.5 years and Bonita only returned briefly over a 1.5 years ago. We had been working towards being able to do this since changing our sailing plans mid 2019 and finally the final days were upon us. Heading to Oz, means Marley can not come with us due to strict quarantine laws in Australia, instead we drop him off to a carer who will look after him whilst we are away. And then there were two as we say our goodbyes to Marley. Leaving our shadow in Phuket, we sail across Phang Na bay to the Krabi province where we plan to leave Nandji. We're Nick and Terysa and we’ve become completely obsessed with the idea of sailing around the world and sharing our experiences and information through our sailing lifestyle videos with others. We met travelling around India, and quickly agreed that rather than “settling down” and doing what most normal people do, we wanted to travel and have adventures! We moved onto our 38 foot monohull in 2014, sailed across the Atlantic twice, cruised the Caribbean, Bahamas and Europe, before buying a brand new 45 ft catamaran! We hope you enjoy what we do. Trouble is- we were in a pandemic, had a university degree to finish, on a student budget, only had ever sailed dingies, oh and didn’t have a boat. The dream seemed not only unrealistic but pretty insane. However, we worked hard, finished our degrees, worked as many hours as physically possible, saved with all our might, got experience and in March 2022 bought our very own sailboat, Teulu. Having little sailing experience and being a young couple, we have encountered a tonne of hurdles and made plenty of mistakes! but for every downfall, there has always been a reason to dust ourselves off and carry on. We hope you can join us as we sail around the world and keep #bloodydoingit *Timestamps* 00:00 Intro 00:33 Plan for the day 02:05 New liferaft 05:03 New life jackets 06:07 Inflating the old liferaft 10:33 On our way to Panama City 14:03 New crew 16:22 Engin checks 22:16 Preparing for the Panama Canal 23:50 The night before our transit 25:11 Next time #sailing #boatlife #travel
