Mit dem Bus fahren wir hinaus zum 25 km entfernt liegenden José María Córdova Flughafen. Von hier fliegen wir eine kurze Strecke nach Prereira, um mit dem Bus weiter nach Salento zu fahren. Unser Hotel das Terasu ist die exakt richtige Wahl, um dieses Erholungsbedürfnis auszuleben, die Seele baumeln zu lassen. Rechtzeitig haben wir noch etwas warme Kleidung gekauft, da es hier in Salento aufgrund seiner Höhenlage empfindlich kalt ist. Prompt bekommen wir eine Erkältung. Ein erster Gang durch den Ort zeigt uns, dass wir hier richtig sind. Wir schließen den Tag mit einem Besuch in einem Spezialitätenrestaurant – es gibt hier Forelle, mit Knoblauch bzw. asiatisch. Am nächsten Tag machen wir einen Ausritt zu einer Kaffeeplantage. Unsere Reitkünste sind vergleichbar minimal. Mein Ross hat stetig den Anspruch Erster zu sein. Brigitta war natürlich erst einmal vollkommen überrascht, obwohl eine Weltumsegelung wesentlich besser in Ihr berufliches Leben als Vorruheständlerin passte als in meins. In den letzten 6 Monaten hat Sie aber eine erstaunliche Entwicklung hinter sich gebracht und freut sich auf unser großes Abenteuer genau wie ich. One of the club boats broke her mooring and with some heavy weather scheduled for the weekend, I offer to help get her back on another mooring. She was a heavy boat but we managed to get her off the shore using Lulu and my trusty Epropulsion outboard. We purchased Sappho about 9 months ago, and since then she's either been up on the hard, or floating at a dock. There was a list of things we wanted and needed to do to her before we felt comfortable being off grid and away from a power source and amenities... but we did it! We are finally back floating in the bay at our mooring buoy and it's a great reminder of why we have been putting all this work in. Just before leaving the dock we got our new solar panels hooked up along with our new fridge that will run off of them, and we also marked our anchor chain. We hope to spend the rest of the summer out at anchor somewhere in the Gulf Islands or Desolation sound whenever we don't need to be at the mooring due to work. I always strive for honesty and clarity and the truth is in the title, unless of course you enjoy watching a little day sail then here it is, but in truth we shoot these videos for our family and as a great diary and sometimes it may not be that interesting for the masses. We are planning a few trips and some boat work soon but until the temperature picks up a little at night we don't want to subject our little crew member to any unnecessary discomfort and likewise stress ourselves out. I am also finding our safe limits with dealing with a small person on board as the basics are all there, I know I can sail the boat single handed so that's fine, but particularly Charlie needs to get used to dealing with the little baby on board when the world aka the boat is tipped on its side and bouncing up and down. I never want to cause any discomfort to anyone on board and we have the luxury of time to get to grips with this. For those of you that enjoy our videos and watch regularly and comment, thank you and we appreciate each and everyone that takes the time to write and time to watch. Next trip after having enjoyed the real luxury of Tutka Bay was to fly to the real wilderness on the other side of the Cook Inlet to Stonewood Lodge. Sometimes it seems nice to live in a lodge 90 minutes flight from the nearest shop but we still haven't been pushed that far in this crazy world. Must admit that I borrowed some bear pictures from Darlene since the salmon was already gone at the falls and it therefore did not make sense to fly that far south. We did see a lot of bears ourselves in Funnel Creek just south of Iliamna Lake.
