The Horizon Open House 2012 was held in the last week of June with Horizon Motor Yachts Australia hosting 19 Australian clients in Taiwan for the spectacular three-day event. The event included extravagant dinners, Horizon vessel tours, factory tours of the four Horizon factories including Vision, Atech, Horizon, and Premier Shipyards as well as the Horizon 25th Anniversary celebrations. There were nine Horizon vessels on display worth more then $74 million US Dollars. Included in the display was the launch of the new EP148 "Horizon Polaris" the largest Asian built Ice Class private yacht to date. Other features including the new model, the E56 Sports Motor Yacht and the PC58 Catamaran, which are set to be popular models in the Australian market. With the E56 on display at the Sydney International Boat Show and a PC58 Catamaran on order to be delivered for Sanctuary Cove International Boat show 2013. During the Open House Horizon Australia was lucky enough to sign two clients on new build vessels including the E65 enclosed flybridge and the RP120 Motor Yacht. The Horizon 25th Anniversary Event was held on the 28th of June with over 500 clients and media attending from countries all over the globe. The guests were entertained with spectacular live bands, modern and traditional dancing and light shows highlighting the new Horizon Yachts on display. Horizon Yachts definitely knows how to put on a show! The Horizon Open House was deemed a huge success for Horizon Australia, with the event to be held every two years. With six Horizon new builds in the factory today from Australia Horizon is proving to be the brand to be seen on in Australian waters.

The Boss filters did not do enough to filter the engine noise, and the power draw of the amp and sub were to much for the current electrical system. The drive was longer, if the camera would have keep recording for the entire ride, did get the ATV up to 45 mph driving with only one arm, it would go faster, but I did not dare while I thought I was recording. This we are going to add another type of battery, as soon as I am not working so much I will through more time at this project. Flying from Kota Kinabalu (KK) to Sandakan is easy, fast and inexpensive. This tour was very well organized by Mr Lai of Sandakan Hotspot Eco-Tours. Leaving from KK early morning on day 1, I was met as well as other tourists at Sandakan airport by Hadi, our professional and agreeable tour-guide. After a quick breakfast at a local cafe, we arrived at the Sepilok Orang-Utan Reahabilitation Center, one of only 4 such centers in the world. You get to see orang-utans coming at feeding time on their free will as they are free in nature. You also get to see the newly rescued orang-utans getting some training to be able to survive later in the wild. After a great visit there, we had a nice buffet lunch at a local restaurant and our comfortable A/C bus took us to the Gomantong Caves. We were very fortunate to visit during the 6 weeks a year when bird nests collectors are at work. It gave an extra interest to this huge cathedral-type of cave. Then, we drove to the Sungai Kinabatangan, Sabah's longest river. After checking-in at Borneo Natural Bilit Sukau Resort where I was quite surprised at how nice the bungalows were: I did not need the A/C as the cool temperature and fans where just right. Nice traditional style but clean and spacious. Rooms with personality! After a quick snack, we went for a late afternoon river cruise to spot many types of birds, proboscis monkeys, macaques, and perhaps crocodiles and pygmy elephants. You realize then that your eyes are much better than your camera at distinguishing the creatures often far away and in the shade! After this 2h1/2 hour trip we came back at the resort for a buffet dinner with the many other tourists (most backpackers-type) that came for a day tour or overnight like I did. Shortly after dinner, we were invited to join a night walk around the property to see some animals sleeping like insects and birds. After a great night of sleep, I got up early again, this time to go to a 6am river tour, giving us more chance to see the wild animals clinging to the jungle bordering the river with infamous palm oil trees fields beyond! I let you watch the video to see what animals we did see … After a breakfast on our river tour return, a big bus took a lot of us to diverse destinations, sometimes to connect with other buses. Back at Sandakan airport mid-day, I was back in KK by 4pm on day2. A busy but really fun 2-day tour! I recommend and thank Mr Lai of Sandakan Hotspot Eco-Tours for his support and our great guide, Hadi. Filmed in August 2018.

Thanksgiving week comes and they return to another AirBnB in a place they've never been, but it just might have permanently changed their lives.

I woke every morning for forty days to a wonderful view at Uchinoura Sea Station ( Umi no Eki) based at the Shinjo Fishermen’s Cooperative. The entire team there was very helpful and went beyond the call of duty to assist in helping getting parts, organizing diesel fuel to be delivered. I had planned to sail from there to Osaka Bay and visit my sailmaker but alas the numbers remained high and so once the parts and I renewed my permit to sail beyond 5 NM offshore, I departed for the Mystical Island of Shikoku. At Jacks Bay on Great Guana Cay we struggle with anchoring on what looks like a sandy bottom, but it's actually sand over rock, until we get way close to the beautiful beach. Exploring takes us to South Gaulin Cay, beside Bitter Guana Cay, where we encounter some very friendly iguanas. We take 'Imp' to a nearby set of shallow coral heads to dive on them and see what nature has to offer under the sea.
