Before we went to the boat show, Steve made progress with the galley sink, counter, and stowage area. He broke out some locust and used cherry for the first time—some sweeping, beautiful curves have made a beautiful cubby for needful things where food prep will happen. The Annapolis Sailboat Show, also known as the United States Sailboat Show, was every opportunity we hoped it would be. Along with meeting Brian from s/v Delos in person to say thanks for the inspiration, we met cruisers, followers, Patreon supporters, new friends, and we got to see some of the gear we'll need for systems. Having a good look at some of the things we've only researched from afar was enlightening, as was the opportunity to talk with the people who could speak authoritatively about how that gear is going to fit with the type of cruising we want to do on Arabella. Yachting World's boat test on the hot new planing one-design

King planks and covering boards are so essential to the longevity of wooden boat decking, it warrants the caution and care that we've taken to get here. The covering boards are both "glued" and screwed, albeit with a wood glue called 4200, which can be removed with heat when maintenance calls for it. The king planks, on the other hand, will be simply screwed into place, and their solid nature makes for a stable, water-shedding surface down the centerline of the boat. It's a place where a few things pass through the deck of this DIY wooden boat, or where important hardware, such as the windlass (the mechanical winch that raises the anchor, needs a solid foundation. We set our anchor during slack tide and didn't realize how shallow the water was close to Satori. As we enjoy some "play time" on the beach, Satori quickly drifts over to shallow side and we run aground! After trying to figure out a plan of action, the tide slowly brought us back to deeper water and our Mantus reset like a champ. It was much less of big deal then we thought it was going to be. Nach einem Jahr in der Türkei und fast drei Jahren in Griechenland haben wir 2018 unserem YouTube-Kanal ANNAMERA SAILING gelauncht. In etwa monatlicher Folge dokumentieren wir Reiseabschnitte und Entdeckungen und versuchen dabei, Segeln auch für Nichtsegler nachvollziehbar zu machen… Nach der Durchquerung des Mittelmeeres begann auf dem Atlantik ein spannender neuer Abschnitt, mit langen Segelpassagen und der Erkundung der Atlantikinseln: Kanaren, Madeira und des Azorenarchipels. Die Karibik ist unser nächstes Ziel. Wie lange wir dort bleiben und wohin es von dort weiter geht, werden wir entscheiden, wenn es soweit ist. Wir lassen uns gerne treiben, da es meistens sowieso anders kommt als geplant.
