Joanna shot to fame in 2017 when she broke records becoming the first independent artist to go straight to Number 1 in the Official Classical Album Charts with a debut album, "Stars Are Rising". Her 2nd album, "The Rhythm of Life", released in 2019, also shot straight to the top of the classical charts on release. Both albums received critical acclaim across TV, Radio and National Press including Album of the Week in The Sunday Mirror. Joanna entered the world of classical crossover in 2014 following a successful West End and TV career. Her first public performance as a crossover artist was in duet with Britain’s Got Talent megastar, Paul Potts, at The Palace Theatre, London who later also guest duetted with Joanna on "The Rhythm of Life" with a new arrangement of Boccelli's "Because We Believe". Further recordings included a classical Number 1 single with "The Royal Platinum Love Song", released to celebrate 70 years of marriage between The Queen and Prince Philip, a Top 10 classical christmas hit, "That is his Story" and a lead appearance on the Sir Paul McCartney backed “Choirs with Purpose” Stand Together album backed by a 600 strong choir. No stranger to high profile performances, Joanna has sung on the pitch at Premier League and Championship Football Grounds, on BBC's Songs of Praise performing "Ave Maria", as lead soloist at the prestigious Bedford Park Proms and York's Castle Howard Proms, theatres up and down the UK and on her own nationwide tour. As a result of Joanna's chart success she was awarded the first ever "Future Classic Women" Award in May 2019. Would you like a free song not available anywhere else? Bringing Yabá from wreck to dreamy! Episode 158 In this episode of our boat restoration, we finally finish the mechanism that connects the helm to the rudder. We had started working on this system, however, we felt like some upgrades were needed. Now our steering mechanism is stronger, more reliable and a lot more organized than before. we can now move on to the next step to get Yabá ready to launch! This week on Sailing GBU we set sail to Salinas Puerto Rico! We have been anchored at an island of of the mainland that has no grocery stores. It was time we get back to civilization and get ice and food. The wind was light but otherwise a fun calm sail. After renting a car we flew up the mountain not knowing what to expect. *BUG SCREEN FOR HATCH Link https://amzn.to/38COcN5 We upload a new video every week! We arrive very early to the region where our charts say there is an island and reef... but we can't find it... the charts are wrong. It takes almost 8 hours to eventually get there with Margarida starving and seasick...you know the drill by now. Find food and wood and start a cook up...it is a little bit of paradise and we plan to stay... well for a while. Give it a thumbs up if you liked this episode! We will be attending The WoodenBoat Show at Mystic Seaport Museum the following weekend. Be sure to sign up for our newsletter so you don't miss any details. Electronic gear nerds and woodworking fans rejoice! This week, we get back inside the boat for a look at how Steve puts together one of the most personalized parts of a sailboat: the navigation table and nav station. GPS units from Garmin, VHF radios, breaker panels, 12 volt plugs, Garmin radar, GMI 20, and more. We're accepting of the fact that our setup for the navigation station will never be in its final draft for lots of reasons. Lightning strikes, changing technology, changing needs and cruising style... any of these things would mean that we'd need to rethink and change it, and we've always been happy to contemplate (and excited by some of!) the future changes that may come. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella is a wooden boat building project taking place in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve started as an amateur wooden boat builder building a 38' wooden sailboat in his backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and beyond—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that classic wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY boatbuilding project will continue well past launch, when he and the crew will travel and learn to cruise aboard the handmade wooden boat that they've built. Isla Mujeres continued to be a perfect place to find work. Desiree found a side-job doing social media photography for a wedding planning company, scored big time on a cruising sailboat whose owner wanted newly-upholstered cushions, and Jordan honed in on his rudder building skills! We also experimented with doing odd jobs for other cruisers like trouble shooting wifi. After working hard in Isla Mujeres, it was time to get Atticus back out on the water for an adventure! We decided to sail south to Bahia de Ascensión with our neighbors. Check out our process of turning Atticus back into a cruising sailboat! Did you like this video? We sailed over to the Island of Bastimentos and head into the indigenous village of the Ngöbe-Buglé people. One of the locals leads us into the jungle in search of sloths, monkeys and poison dart frogs. T We're in the Ngöbe Buglé village of Salt Creek (in Spanish Quebrada Sal) and we're heading up the hill for a jungle tour through the rainforest. Our guide is a villager who's lived on Isla Bastimentos his entire life. From the village to Puta Vista we're hoping to see sloths, monkeys, poisonous red dart frogs and who knows what else. We're super excited to have some land-time, get some hiking in and capture something cool. We hope you find this short hike through the jungle as fascinating as we did. Let us know what you think in the comments below...we love hearing from fellow travelers and dreamers. A huge thanks goes out to YOU! We couldn't continue to share without your support. After spending a couple of months heads down in sewing and fiberglass work while living in Isla Mujeres, Mexico, we both decided it was time to take a break from the darker side of cruising to remind ourselves about the rewards of working our butts off in a new country. So we took a long weekend to explore Merida, the cultural center of the Yucatan while Desiree's mom visited us to celebrate her birthday. In this episode we finally get to swim in a Cenote, which we've been looking forward to for years! Cenotes are (mostly) fresh-water underground caves, which in many cases actually link up to form the largest underwater cave system in the world (215 miles long!). Cenote is the mayan word for “sacred well”. The Mayans built complex structures to tap into these large quantities of fresh water to sustain their civilizations. They also used some cenotes as sacrificial burials or as punishment for wrong-doing. It’s beyond words to explain the blue, clear, fresh feeling of diving into one of these hidden gems! There are over 6,000 cenotes in the Yucatan- some are small holes in farmers' backyards, some are monetized by huge corporations that sport zip lines and fancy underwater lighting, some are local joints for kids and families to spend their dia de descanso (day off) cooling down, and some are abandoned and overgrown holes in the jungle. Our first Cenote (Cuzama) is still our favorite Cenote of all time. Because it's so hard to get to, it's still relatively untouched. We had it almost 100% to ourselves! Did you like this video? Boat Surveys are not sexy, but I did my best to make it fun to watch the process. It is a long slow day of checking out each individual system on a boat. Technically we just watch the marine surveyor check all the systems. There are a lot of systems, the bottom, the standing rigging, the running rigging, the lights, the anchors, the deck, the tender or dinghy, the inboard diesel motor, the out board gas motor for the dingy, the VHF, the stereo, the DC power, the AC power, the Air Conditioner, the Refrigeration, the head, the fresh water, the seacocks, the starter battery, the house bank batteries, the sails. The list goes on and on and they all have their own specs. A good survey takes quite a long time. It is well worth it. After, the first survey we had I would never buy a boat without one.The key is a good, honest, knowledgeable surveyor. This is what it is like. Not that exciting until you realize you have found the perfect boat! Next thing to do... go sailing! On step closer to living on a yacht. This is The Boat Life. Nic Morganti and Melissa Auman are moving onto a sailboat. The plan was sell everything, buy a boat, live on the boat, and travel and explore the Caribbean and the world while living aboard! Simple plan, but lots to learn and do along the way. Join our adventure as we sail away, live on a sailboat, and explore life aboard. Thanks for watching! Subscribe to get onboard! This force cracked the internal grid in several places and broke a portion of the grid free from hull. At some point an inspection was done, insurance was called and decisions were made. Episode 22 In this episode Ben comes back from the future just to clarify something, we share massive spoilers, we finally introduce our wood of choice and we get building! Frames, planks, floor timbers... so much has happened! We hope you enjoy watching it! Xx ༄ We are Ben and MP! Recently we decided to purchase a two-masted 70ft wooden schooner in Brazil. The fun detail about our story is that the boat we bought was sinking and relying on many bilge pumps to survive so we had to lift it onto the dry to start a full refit. I went to a Lagoon dealer for help fixing my boat and they laughed at me, so we sailed 1100 nm across the Caribbean sea to search for Parlay Revival. Colin and Jamie do everything they can to help and sadly they discover that my Lagoon 450 is BENT and the Bulkheads are CRACKED. I’m smiling for the camera, but dying on the inside. Glad we sailed a week from St. Maarten to Panama to find these guys! Lagoon! Please help me fix my bulkheads, they're not supposed to be like this! In the centre of most IMOCA60 cockpits is a mass of control lines and coloured balls that look more like a weaving loom than the command station of an offshore 60footer. Team Malizia co-skipper Will Harris talked us through what the lines do and what life is like drving an IMOCA60 at speed from inside the greenhouse.

They let light in, which is important of course for a good mood and a lovely living space, but is also likely to keep mold at bay. Along with needing a custom cherry wood interior plate for a finished look, Steve needs to replace the glass, which is likely inappropriate for a boat, with sheet acrylic. Butyl tape is the go-to for many marine hatch applications. It does a great job of sealing between layers, and has a fairly good lifespan. And speaking of long-lived materials: acrylic has a longer lifespan than Lexan on boats. Some people are surprised by that, but acrylic is UV resistant and is unlikely to craze, especially when it's thicker. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella is a wooden boat building project taking place in Granby, Massachusetts. Just kidding about all that, this channel is about a Siberian Laika named Akiva. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you are interested in supporting/helping here are a few ways: https://www.acorntoarabella.com/how-to-help Acorn to Arabella's wishlist: https://www.acorntoarabella.com/wishlistpriority TotalBoat Referral: Please consider using our Total Boat referral code—they send us 10% of your purchase to support our videos!
