The best hike-to view, a majestic banyon tree, an amazing local parfume shop and boutique, homemade ice cream stand, the most beautiful beach and of course the best local lunch place to have a bite. After chatting with the people at the Visit Bora Bora tourist stand our expectations were set to a level that we should have realized was unobtainable. Was it a total fail? No, not even close. We had a wonderful time exploring the south end of Bora Bora and we cooled off with a snorkel surrounded by curious fish. For our next adventure we'll keep our expectations at a normal level, that way we'll be pleasantly surprised no matter what we see. BTW - YES it was really, really hot and humid. I've no idea why we chose the hottest day to have an island land adventure! Haha. Welcome, to Indigo Lady. This WAS a 2002 44' Voyager sailing catamaran. But then was converted into a fully solar electric powered vessel. With 7,200 watts of solar panels, and a total 32kwh lithium battery bank. This boat has gone just as far as my own sailboat. Steve and Alix started as amateur boat builders building their own 38' wooden boat in their backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and beyond—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that wooden boats command. SOLD! Congratulations and safe travels to the new owners. The 42 Flybridge is widely considered one of Nordic Tug’s most sought-after models. Fog Dog is a 2004 model year, hull number 57, with a 2 stateroom, 2 head layout. With her distinct build heritage to working tug boats, her hull shape is well known among trawler enthusiasts as being hardy, strong, and elegant through the water. Lots of interior upgrades have been done to revitalize her living spaces and by stepping aboard through the cockpit into the saloon, you can instantly feel a modern touch to her. The original carpet has been replaced with teak and holly wood flooring that has been double insulated to reduce engine room noise and temperature. The large windows open for maximum airflow, natural light and viewing pleasure. The living quarters, galley, and pilot house are all entered from the saloon. Nestled below the saloon is the engine room, housing a Cummins 450 HP diesel engine that allows Fog Dog to be easily navigated around docks with both a bow and stern thruster. Up a few steps from the saloon is the pilothouse, a wonderful place to spend your days cruising comfortably. A variety of Raymarine digital navigation, including autopilot, afford the operator detailed charts and info of the water ahead and below. Morse electronic engine controls, bow thruster, stern thruster, and a large helm wheel all serve Fog Dogs’ operator for easy maneuvering. The upper deck and flybridge are accessed via a ships ladder in the aft cockpit. Tall safety rails line the edges of the upper boat deck to help prevent accidents. The dinghy is an 8’ AB with a 15HP Yamaha outboard, that rests on custom chocks to the starboard side of the boat deck. The dinghy is raised with a heavy-duty Steelhead crane. A few short steps up the port side is the flybridge. The flybridge is shaded by a canvas Bimini, with comfortable seating for a captain and co-captain at the helm. Fog Dog is reluctantly being passed on to new, loving owners. Her current owners have spent many years at sea and have now decided to live a new life on land. She has provided many amazing memories for both friends and family alike, just as she will for you. Want to see how a modern city looks after being buried in a pyroclastic flow? After randomly drawing our Patreon crew contest winners Martin and Crystal, Delos sets sail leaving Antigua in our wake. After a few hours of fantastic downwind sailing we anchor ourselves in the protection of the island and begin our exploration. It turns out the entire south portion of the island is an off-limits exclusion zone to protect the population from the very active volcano. We get a permit from the government to enter the exclusion zone, and along with our local guide Joe enter the abandoned villages and towns that used to be homes to thousands of people. What we find is absolutely amazing and creeps at the same time. It's literally a modern ghost town buried in volcanic ash, rocks, and mud. We fly the drone and get as close as possible to capture the experience from both the air and ground. Now all the pieces are with us, it's time to give the boat a dry fit before we can think about glassing in bulkheads, or bonding the components together. **Like our videos and want to support? Once we can get that up and over, we can bolt the two together. But working with pieces over our heads which weigh 300 pounds? (150kg) We have to come up with lots of interesting ways to manage doing that with just the two of us. We also go through the effort to make sure the hulls are properly aligned, which means moving the port side hull forward *just a touch*. Once have made the measurements (in metric) that everything is where it is supposed to be, we use a water level to make sure both hulls are level with each other. We hope you enjoy!
