It’s a busy channel, which meant La Vagabonde was constantly copping the wakes of all the traffic. She was also out most nights and not coming back to the mooring ball until 5am... and was constantly complaining of a hangover. We also made the most of being moored near a city for a while, Riley went on a history tour to learn about Panama as he is recently obsessed with pirates and I went to check out an animal shelter so I could FINALLY see a sloth. I could have kept that little baby one and thrown Riles overboard to make room for him our bed HE WAS SO CUTE!!! We prepared La Vagabonde for a 5 day sail to the Galapagos Islands, a place we have been SO excited to get to for a long time now. More new, interesting animals for me to discover. Horaaaaaaay. I would say The perfect "yin and yang" YACHT for a well-balanced couple: adventure, exploration, and offshore fishing, but at the same time lots of space to entertain and cruise comfortably. This 59' / 18M Model definitely felt like a 75' or 80' (23-24M)... Pretty unbelievable! I think we would feel very safe going offshore on this Beauty as everything was solid, well built, and thought through. Loved the location of the galley, all the access, the Master was pretty Fabulous as well. After one month of living off grid on a small island, we learn the world is still shut down. Neighbouring countries had closed their borders and Malaysia went into a 2 week lock down, which was continually extended every 2 weeks. Get Unseen footage, Exclusive vids and engage with us more personally! http://www.patreon.com/Nandji In this episode of Sailing Nandji, after a visit from the Malaysian customs, we decide it is time to head back to town to replenish our fresh supplies and learn more about the current world pandemic. After the ladies complete the food shopping, we learnt it was too early to be back around people. We head straight back to Nandji and set some sails and got as far away as we were allowed, time to spend another month off grid of lockdown living. Rather than return to Angry monkey beach, we find a new anchorage at the bottom of some cliffs. With no internet for two weeks, we move Nandji again closer to a beach where the Whippet can stretch his legs easily. With no other people around for weeks, the noises of the jungle really made it feel we were a long way from anyone or anything. A great place to hide away and let the world heal. With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off from Australia sailing to the Pacific! We have since cruised through New Caledonia, Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and then onto the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the years to come. With a new engine, we continued onto Thailand, then back down into Indonesia and specifically West Sumatra to live the island life and chase the surf. With our Sailing plans changing, we returned to Thailand to wait for the weather and begin our journey to the northern route of the Indian Ocean to Sri Lanka before heading south across the Indian Ocean once cyclone season has finished and the trade winds begin! We were on our shake down sail when the mooring we were on failed and our home ended up on the reef. We saved the old girl and got her back to the boat yard for repairs to continue on our adventure! Ready to sail across the Indian Ocean, we were only days away from leaving when the pandemic begun closing countries around us... We are stuck for now, but enjoying the slower pace! We departed the east coast of Australia in July 2017 and have since sailed over 10000nm offshore. We have explored some amazing countries and met some beautiful people along the way. We have experienced so many different and diverse cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our lives doing it! The adventure is just beginning as we sail West with the trades around the World!
