1984 Custom Cantieri Navali Scia 50 "Constellation" is rigged as a high aspect ratio staysail schooner. She was built in Genoa, Italy on a semi-custom basis. Down below there are four staterooms plus two heads. There is a very extensive sail inventory plus complete electronics. The boat has been sitting in covered storage and has some mold down below, however the price is likely negotiable, and may be an opportunity for someone looking for a big boat for a relatively affordable price. "Constellation'' has a very unique layout; there is a private stateroom aft with port and starboard berths and ample storage. Moving forward there is an aft head and a nice u-shaped galley on the port and a forward facing navigation station on the starboard side. The salon has two straight settees and a large center mounted table with two fold out leaves. Continuing forward there are two private staterooms with upper and lower bunks. We test our limits as sailors by riding the back of a hurricane down the coast of New England! A hurricane is passing to our east and we decide to ride the north winds the low creates as it passes by to make a jump south. In anticipation of a rough sail ahead we rig our downwind poles to catch as much wind as possible. Es soll allerdings auch hochseetauglich sein, um bequem auch mal für längere Zeit darauf leben zu können. Die Möglichkeit einer Blauwasser Langfahrt besteht nämlich durchaus. Nachdem es die Bénéteau Oceanis aus dem letzten Video nicht werden sollte, sind wir wieder dabei bei ihrer nächsten Bootsbesichtigung. Es dreht sich heute quasi alles um Jeanneau – genauer: Sun Odyssey. Im Gespräch sind gleich drei: Einmal die ausgestellte 44er auf der Hamburg Boat Show, wo unser Tag startet, dann eine 43er DS, die Rolf und Bärbel in Italien besichtigt haben und als drittes das Schiff, wofür sie sich sehr interessieren und mit uns gemeinsam anschauen. Wir waren ziemlich überrascht, die Unterschiede in der Verarbeitungsqualität bei Jeanneau innerhalb von 15 Jahren an einem Tag zu erleben. Außerdem lässt sich Hendrik über Teakholz aus, denn damit steht er seit dem Kauf unserer 7seas auf Kriegsfuß... After waiting for a weather window, we set sail from French Polynesia for an 1800 nautical mile passage to Fiji. This stretch of ocean is notoriously squally and unpredictable. We experienced variable winds and some significant swell rolling in from systems in the southern ocean. After a successful voyage, we made landfall in the beautiful country of Fiji. Our boat Julia is an Atkin designed Ingrid ketch. She is a traditional wooden boat, built of fir and cedar on an oak frame in 1960. This type of blue water passage making is exactly what she was designed for.
