We thought leaving South Africa would be easy. We were wrong. Our last stop before checking out was Langebaan — and if we're honest, it might just be one of our favourite spots on the entire South African coastline. Kite surfers everywhere, wing foiling from the boat, sunsets and sunrises we wish we'd had more time for. Naturally, we found it right as we were about to leave. But before we could properly say goodbye, there was one more thing hanging over us: weeks earlier, an online system failure meant we couldn't formally lodge our visa appeal — and we had no idea if that would come back to bite us at the border. So we sailed into Saldanha not knowing whether we'd be checking out of South Africa cleanly, or walking into a much bigger problem. What actually happened at that immigration counter genuinely caught us off guard. From there it was straight into passage prep — one of our biggest provisioning runs yet, loading Happy Days I with enough fresh produce to get us through the unknowns of what we'd find (or wouldn't find) waiting for us in St Helena. And then, one last afternoon with our friends aboard Rolling Stones — a sunset, a pizza, and a goodbye we didn't film much of, because some moments you'd rather just be in. Two boats, two directions. Sailing Yabá 324: Sailing to Brazil’s Most Infamous Island: Bees, Miracle Fruit & Prison Ruins (Ilha Grande) We pull anchor from the historic town of Paraty and set sail for Ilha Grande, an island famous for its pristine, sheltered anchorages, but hiding a dark, complex past. Tucked away in the calm waters of Saco do Céu, we drop anchor and connect with fellow sailors Michele and Gustavo aboard their wooden schooner. What starts as a World Cup watch party leads to some of the most surprising encounters on the island: tasting "miracle fruit" that completely flips your tastebuds, touring native Jataí stingless bees with local keeper André, and hiking up jungle trails surrounded by local dogs. Later, we leave Vila do Abraão on foot to explore the wild history of Ilha Grande. From 19th-century pirate hideouts and the crumbling ruins of the Lazareto quarantine station, to the jungle-swallowed cellblocks of the Cândido Mendes prison in Dois Rios, the exact birthplace of Rio de Janeiro’s Comando Vermelho syndicate. We were lucky enough to witness two of Fakarava’s greatest natural spectacles: the legendary Wall of Sharks and the incredible Grouper Spawning — a breathtaking gathering that happens only at a very specific time and place. Thousands of fish come together to spawn, attracting an extraordinary number of sharks and creating a truly unforgettable underwater spectacle. Experiencing this in such a remote and pristine place felt like a privilege. je vous embarque pour une navigation entre Saint-Cyprien et Canet-en-Roussillon. Pas sur Joy cette fois : on monte à bord d’Hélios, le voilier First 25 d'une amie. Au programme : découverte du bateau, test du pilote automatique, une baignade magique dans une eau cristalline (on voyait le fond à 9 mètres !). En deuxième partie de vidéo, on retourne sur Joy pour avancer sur le chantier électrique. Au menu : installation de la Busbar et préparation du nouveau tableau électrique. Malheureusement, j'ai aussi eu une mauvaise surprise avec un mégot trouvé à bord... la suite est à découvrir dans la vidéo.
