Kristina and I have a very bad day when numerous things go wrong on Rad Mode, stranding us in Richardson Bay while we wait for replacement parts. We won't let that stop us from having a good time so we raft up with our friends Dennis and June and have the crew of SV Plan B over for a party before sailing to Berkeley Marina. Talisman finally heads south from Scotland, bound for Camerey Sur Mer, France. This is our first big passage and we bring Iain Hunter of Hunter Yacht Deliveries with us. Iain did all the heavy lifting in terms of getting the boat back into working order after 7 years on the hard, and he knows the boat about as well as anyone. Iain is a great guy, and if you ever need a boat delivered, no matter how big or small, Iain will fly to the location and get it done. He's a pro in every way.

We climb one of the WORLDS most active VOLCANO's, spitting lava. Then go cooking in the boiling hot springs... https://www.sailingnandji.com CLICK THE BELL to know when NEW Nandji Videos are up! In this episode of Sailing Nandji, we rise at 2am to climb one of the world's most active volcanoes. Mt Yasur on Tanna island, Vanuatu. We climb to the top of the crater in the pitch dark and look down into the depths of the earth. The volcano spits lava, volcanic ash and sulphur into the sky. This level 2 activity that we witness means there could be an explosion at anytime and the volcano could spit lava as high as the crest of the crater. Exactly where we were standing. Mt Yasur volcano is one of the craziest natural things we have ever witnessed, its shear power was relentless and breath taking. We then go trekking around Port Resolution with a young machete wielding guide who explains to us how they cook with the natural hot springs. Excited by how they do this, we test out the boiling hot springs and try a little extreme volcano cooking our selves. We take some eggs to the rocks and cook our breakfast in the hot springs. We try to anyway... Lets make NANDJI better! Nandji has a new windvane ordered! YEW! It is because of all you great people, we have raised enough funds to get a self steering aid on the back of Nandji. We are currently waiting for it to arrive so we can install it! Nandji is an older boat and we have plenty of items that we are trying to afford. A new windlass, an autopilot, a downwind sail. Just to name a few. GO FUND THIS: https://www.gofundme.com/help-us-to-help-animals Stunningly beautiful Ile des Pins in New Caledonia - hides an ugly secret behind its magnificent blues of sky and water. The beauty of nature is outstanding here, however up until now, the animals on the island have suffered tremendously. Uncontrolled numbers of dogs and cats roam the neighbourhoods looking for food. In an attempt to remediate the situation, local people have up until now grabbed desperate methods to overcome the problem. Drowned puppies, dogs killed on the road or shot were sadly an everyday occurrence . Thanks to the Flying Vet's campaign, this is now coming to an end with a dog sterilisation program. This clip is a teaser for our longer movie coming up in the very near future. We hope you enjoy the beauty of nature and will find it in your heart to contribute a small amount to our Gofundme program for animal welfare in New Caledonia. A donation of $50 covers the cost of 1 dog sterilisation, so with a following of some 10000 people we hope to raise $10000 which would sterilise 200 dogs on the island. Last week about 30 dogs were helped. The Flying Vet reckons that a three monthly visit will do the trick so that in one year, the problem will be nipped in the bud. The poor female dogs will no longer be obliged to have puppies twice a year, will no longer get hassled by gangs of dogs when they are on heat. The local people will no longer have to kill 8 or 10 puppies at birth and later on, kill the one puppy they often leave to the mother. Help us to help others, thank you! Music Credits

No i sobota w okolicy południa! How to kill and remove Diesel Bug is a short video showing how we dealt with the diesel bug on our Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 36i. After losing power multiple times on our passage from Tilos to Kos, we stripped down the fuel system to find bacteria growing in the tank, filters & traps. The only cure for such a bug is an additive that is put directly into the tank and left for 24 hours to work. Once dead the system must be thoroughly cleaned, including traps, filters, fuel lines & diesel tank. The only part we didn’t do were the fuel lines, they will be replaced before we set sail in 2018. As we were only a few miles from our home port we also waited until we were safely back in the marina before removing the tank and cleaning that. I am sure there are many sailors out there who have experienced this problem and have dealt with it in numerous different ways. We wanted to show the procedure we used on our Sun Odyssey 36i, which covers where to find all the relevant parts, including removing them and cleaning them. #sailing #SailingKejstralAdventures #videoclip Like, share and comment if you enjoyed this video Checkout our channel at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCu_TXBvLqimTelcfKu2Dkfg Stay up to date by going to our website at http://sailingkejstraladventures.weebly.com/ Follow the Blog http://sailingkejstraladventures.weebly.com/blog Keep up to date on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/Kejstral/ AUDIO ------------ Under the Creative Commons Licence Sleepy Jake - Silent Partner A huge thank you to all our subscribers and followers. Sailing our RL 28 Neringa from St.Helens to Mud Islands on Port Phillip Bay. Good sailing winds on the first day with 20 to 25 knots from astern I had a great run to the now complete Portarlington harbour for the night. The wind drops for the next 2 days making for ideal conditions to explore Mud Islands. The deepest water is on the SE corner of the islands and close to shore at this point are a couple of moorings. Anything in the top half of the tide will give a depth of 0.5 to 1 m depth on approach. Beaching is possible here but only in light conditions. As an anchorage it only offers protection from the WSW around to the NW otherwise only suitable in winds below 15 knots. September to November sees the island home to thousands of nesting birds, and absolute spectacle to see and well worth the visit. The islands also know as the Great Sand Islands has long sandy beaches to explore and it takes less than 2 hours to walk around the islands. Sunsets and sea views of passing shipping and the Rip are superb. I could wire this speaker at 2 ohms or I could separate the coils at 4 ohms and not bridge the amp. THE TURTLE ROAD TRIP IS ALMOST OVER! We are so excited to finally be on the East Coast! We are so close to launching Turtle and starting our sailing adventure to the Bahamas! We have friends that live in South Carolina and we decided it would be best to visit them before leaving on our trip, so that we could leave a few of our valuable belongings with them for safe keeping while we will be gone. We don't own a whole lot of "stuff" with living on a boat, but there are a few items that need it be stored properly in a safe place, other than the back of the truck. When we got to Georgia we stopped for the night at a truck stop and found that one of the bran new tires we just got a few days ago was flat the next morning! WHY????? It took FOREVER to pump the tire back up using our portable air compressor, but we managed to get back on the road. About an hour later we pulled over at a rest stop in South Carolina to check the tire and noticed it was looking a little flat again. We tried to find where it was loosing air, but weren't having much luck, until a nice truck driver came over with his spray bottle and helped us see that the air was leaking out of the rim! There weren't any Discount Tire Shops anywhere near by to replace the rim, so we decided that we would need to put the mismatched spare tire on and try to find a tire shop that could swap the two rims for us. We found a shop a little further up the road and the two guys working there were the BEST! They defiantly had the southern charm we have always heard about! We made it to our friends house later that day and parked the boat in their driveway. After we unhitched the truck from the trailer, Randall went to move the truck off the sidewalk only to find that it wouldn't start! WHY?????? We tried and tried over and over again to start the truck, but had no luck! We were extremely grateful that it decided to brake down at our friends house instead of on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere! HOW LUCKY WAS THAT?! Episode 6 We finally leave Gibraltar! We get lots of work done to make the boat more suitable for cruising in Gibraltar but you have to draw a line eventually and just get going. One of the hardest steps is just leaving the quayside. Our sail to Ibiza took 3 days which was a great opportunity for the 2 of us to see how living at sea would be and learn what our roles. We couldn’t have hoped for a more perfect first 2 days but then we hit 20 knot winds on the nose. Catamarans do NOT like to sail into wind, especially in the Mediterranean Sea where there’s a very short wave length. Cats slam and the boat sounds as tho it’s falling apart. That is an exaggeration obviously but upwind sailing is best avoided. We beat into wind for 12 hours and couldn’t have deserved that sangria any more. We first laid eyes on this beautiful catamaran in Port Stephens, NSW on our way north and we first met Fiona and Trevor in Port Macquarie. We have shared many a good time with this couple. So here is part of their story.
Me and Xander Steetskamp are on our way to the Canary island but things really don't go as planned, we go from no wind into 20 knots, the beam gets ripped out the rail and the genua tears. this 70 mile trip became a nightmare!! Also check they video before https://youtu.be/Kl8SeAAT9AA
Isabelle suffered an engine failure due to a blocked fuel line at an awkward moment -- during a gale in Episode 12. Safely home in France, I build a home-made 'diesel polisher' to remove water and sediment from my tank. (No sailing in this one friends.)
Come join me for lots of sanding as I start fairing the deck aboard my 1987 Warrior 38 sailboat. We’re sailing the new Bluewater 50 catamaran across the Atlantic! Tour this luxurious cruising cat with us at its debut at the Southampton Boat Show. We’ll be moving aboard S/Y Zão in less than 2 weeks in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, in the Canary Islands and will be sailing it transatlantic with a crew of fellow sailing writers and videographers. In this episode, we tell you about the upcoming 3,000 nm voyage from the Canary Islands to St. Lucia. We also demonstrate how we’ll do route planning and weather forecasting using the PredictWind® app which has been updated since our last Atlantic crossing. The November voyage aboard S/Y Zão will be our 8th transatlantic passage. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Featured in this video: Bluewater 50 catamaran: https://bluewatercats.com/bluewater-50-catamaran/ Discovery Yachts Group / Southerly Yachts: https://discoveryyachtsgroup.com/ Southampton Boat Show: https://southamptonboatshow.com/ World Cruising Club, Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC): https://www.worldcruising.com/index.aspx PredictWind Weather Forecasting, Route Planning and Tracking App: https://www.predictwind.com/ Track S/Y Zao’s position at: http://zao.charnley.uk/ ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Own the whole Distant Shores collection: All 130 full half-hour episodes of the Distant Shores Sailing Adventure TV series are available as a collectors set as HD downloads and also on DVD through the Distant Shores website.
